Great video Dr Elliott. As a diab doctor myself I used Libre to understand my patient's diabetes too and my own blood glucose. It was an insightful journey.

What a fantastic lecture I've learnt a lot especially as I'm into my 3rd day of using the Freestyle Libre2 on a 14 free trial and am puzzled by some of the results. The one thing that I would love and maybe Abbott can sponsor it is to repeat this in a professional studio to improve the picture quality and to edit out the audience noises. Other than that thank you so much.

Rather than metformin why not prescribe a low carb diet or fasting
I will never take metformin or statins

This is a discussion to have with your physician. The use of Metformin is case by case. However, for certain patients, Metformin has a multitude of benefits that make this drug ideal. The science regarding Statin use in diabetes is impressive. Despite our emphasis on ideal blood glucose, the average diabetic is MOST at risk for premature cardiovascular events that can at best reduce life span and quality of life and at worse, can cause sudden cardiac arrest and subsequent death. Statins help reduce that risk, significantly. But again, this is a conversation to have with your physician, taking into account, the individual's risk factors, social factors and lifestyle choices.

Great video but lousy audio! Bad recording. Wish I could hear it as well as the person sitting in when they were coughing!
