AID-clamp is a proprietary test protocol that determines exogenous insulin requirements of an individual under test conditions via analysis of the automated insulin delivery (AID) event log. Absolutely true about the fear of going low while asleep. My young daughter would go low in her sleep multiple times a week before we went on the looping program. I feel for the people unable to afford continuous glucose monitors since they or their caregivers wouldn’t even know they were going into a diabetic coma until it was too late. Insulin is a fickle beast and continuous glucose monitors which communicates to the insulin pump is a must for quality of life for diabetics. Thank you for bringing the message to the Canadian House of Commons.

You should not be promoting the use of using one vial for multiple uses. There is no preservative in these vials so you run a massive risk of A: infection from bacteria and B: it's effectiveness isn't the same. it's also not approved by Eli Lilly either.

If you get 15 mg vial and need to split it , how many times can use the same vial after opening?

Do we have to transfer the vial content to another one with BC water or can use same vial multiple times as long as left in fridge and using new needles?

I was told no matter what is the power or concentration of tirzepatide in a vial, whether 2,5mg or 15mg, that I always have to take the whole vial, as it does not contain any preservation agents in it, so after an hour after the vial is once stabbed through by a needle, there is a high risk of bacteria contamination…

Insulin stays in the fridge & you repeatedly use the same vial (with sterile syringe), so mounjaro may be similar but I'm not sure about air, maybe refrigeration prevents the issue. I'm not risking it with my mounjaro though, I just follow instructions

TLDR: Semaglutide (Ozempic) is a medication that can help lower weight and sugar levels, reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, and comes with a sample pack for easy injection. 00:00 💉 Semaglutide (Ozempic) is a drug that helps lower weight and sugar, reduces risk of heart attack and stroke, and comes in a sample pack with a pen and needle tips for injection. 00:45 💉 Screw on the needle, dial up to 0.5 milligrams, press the grey end and hold for six seconds to administer the medication. 01:40 💉 Start with a 0.25mg dose of Ozempic once a week, and use the clicks on the pen to adjust the dosage. 02:12 💉 Push the button for six seconds, then put the needle back in its lid without touching it, and you can use it a couple of times before changing the needle. 02:43 🤢 Take a small dose of Semaglutide, wait a week, increase the dose, and repeat if no nausea. 03:12 👩‍⚕ Gradually increase the dose of Semaglutide injection over several weeks to minimize side effects.

just got switched from Levemir to this. I've been using basalgar since march 1. the only problem i have with it is, i am severely visually impaired, and i rely on the clicks when i inject as an indicater, when injecting my insulin. this basalgar seems to be silent. this means i have to pull it out, check to see if i have administered the whole dosage required, and if its not totally given the dose i have asked for, i have to inject again. 🤔

The case manager didn't introduce himself, I had to ask. He didn't even take and read the 3 pages questionnaire info sheets I filled up at home. Happy for those with good experience with BC Diabetes.

I'm starting it today after much hesitation yet watching the progress, the understanding, the public response for over 2 years. If it does cause nausea with delayed stomach emptying (what it was designed to do), it would certainly stop one eating. My endocrinologist offered it 8 months ago, my doctor also but i was sceptical. Since being a diet Queen most of my life, including lapband surgery over a decade ago, i went on an odyssey this year of nutrigenome and microbiome testing, bloods, naturapath, to understand myself, my inner workings. An anti inflammatory mediterranean diet was the end result. Perfect, delicious, inflammation reducing, but with ravenous hunger due to the carbs. Exercise 3 times per week, physiotherapy, walking, all good yet the weight unshakeable. Keto, my go to for decades rarely lost much weight but reduced my appetite, it however caused inflammatory responses. Yes, "eat less," you say, and all true but life is unbearable at 1,000 calories, or 20 grams of carbs, or continuous monitoring what goes in the mouth, forever. So let's try the ozempic, nothing to loose at this stage except perhaps weight.

Thank you for sharing about the desperate reality of being a diabetic senior on a fixed income. I have learned more about the costs and outcomes for type 1 or type 2 on insulin and also about research and new products from BC Diabetes ….even though I now live in Alberta. As a disabled senior I get no real help at all covering my diabetic supplies, my deductable is 1000 dollars a year. So I just cover needles and insulin, I can't afford to keep abreast of my blood sugars. I know I should but I can;t afford it. Dix says we have the best coverage???? ROLF if I lived in Ontario my scripts would be 3.99 each instead I spend 100 dollars more than that. Because I haven't been able to properly maintain my diabetes in years I also now have Stage 3 kidney disease. So MR Dix, it is pretty to pay for preventative treatment or pay more for my complications.... or do you just want me to die so I don't cost you anything?????

When it comes to the cost of the OmniPod, it is 100% a case of the company absolutely r@ping the Canadian government and taxpayers. The same PDM which Canadians pay $6000+ for can be had in most other countries for ~$500. However they have designed it such that if you purchase a PDM from another country you can't buy the Pods in Canada. The only reason the PDM is $6000+ in Canada is because when they came in, later to the game than other existing pump companies, they simply charged as much as everyone else was charging, since the government was already covering pumps in some provinces. The big difference, of course, is that with OmniPod you're still paying $300 for the pods. And the PDM is such an utterly cheap piece of garbage you'd think it came out of a cereal box. Unfortunately it's still the best option for those that want to pump without tubes.

Oct 28 Cochrane Ab. The Walmart Pharmacy is out of Ozempic the medication I take for Diabetes. They kindly sent my prescription over to another pharmacy and they will fill a 2 week supply. I am grateful that the pharmacies are working together to ensure there is a continual supply of medication and not suddenly thrown into a health crisis. I hope everyone who has a prescription for this drug never has to go without. I asked what will happen when I reorder? The answer was - if they were out, my prescription would be forwarded to which ever Cochrane Pharmacy had a supply. Liz van Schilt
