Tested in multiple game chats and parties and everyone says I sound loud and clear. If you play a lot of FPS COD, Battlefield, R6S etc. I'd give it a thumbs up. The only complaint I have is they do like to unpair but if you hard reset the headset (hold a sequence of buttons on headset) the problem is easily fixed. Ive owned every model of the Astro A50. I love it. The sound is top notch. You can use optical audio and connect it into your tv and use them for whatever youre listening to, game, movie, or tv. Also hook them to my PC. You can use usb or optical, i prefer optical. I was a little worried that the new base would be crap because of the headset changing shape after a while of use. But they still sit in the base nicely. I really like how they added the ability to customize the presets now. And the battery last almost twice as long in the new model than the last one. Last model would get me about 6 hours. New model last me all night and then some. About 13 hours.
But for the time i got to use these, they we're amazing. Wireless with 12+ hours of play time and just amazing if it comes to comfort. May be really expansive but the Astro A50's are great!
My wife just got me this for my birthday! Thank you very much for the description!!! It has helped me look into the insight of this headset. I cant complain though! This is one hell of a present and by faar the best I've ever had!
I'll just continue using my Sony Pulse Elite headset for my PS4 and for listening to music on my S7 Edge. Love this Headset. You inspired me to get it, from watching one of your previous videos. So thank you for that. Got a brand new one for less than $100.
Hey Judnar, I appreciate the review of these headphones. You're right the $300 price tag is too much to ask. I appreciate your honesty with these headphones, great video review.
It's a big dope for the price I got it. The price of 159.99 USD on sale. Though I still prefer my Bose QC352, I mainly got it for an upcoming Christmas gift my brother, he's used to 50 dollar razer headphones that are shit, it'll be a good change for sure.
They have a common fault atm where they disconnect from the base station, after a couple of hard resets they gave up. Really disappointed in them, luckily I got a refund, razer and hyper cloud both look promising.
I’m glad you said no after giving it props. Solid debate. Changed my mind back to getting a G933 now I just need to figure out if I want black or white
The only headset with amazing build quality, using them for years and they still feel new with no breaks or scratches. just saying. it might be a 300$ investment, but that 150$ headset wouldn't last 20% of this headset's lifespan.
Yes sir you get what you pay & I've had mines for almost 3 years now & they're still going & I'm rough with them & they're still in really good condition 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
It’s made for people who want a much more way to play video game’s I highly recommend the A10, A20, A30, A40, and the A50 Pick the one that’s best for your gaming needs It’s actually pretty cheap, I got mine for $40 on Christmas Day, i was shocked, and after I used it for 3 days, i loved it... Sadly I’m not gonna call someone with those gaming headsets cuz most people don’t care about how expensive they are...(even if they’d yell so loud) And I’ll say this again...I’d highly recommend & suggest any A10(or) even if your trying to save some money for Xmas or even maybe a best friend _( 2020 / January / 1st / 8:12 PM )_
Thanks, this video really helped me with crossing out Astro from my list. Everyone in my group of friends has been telling me that I need to get some Astros because there is nothing like them. I just can't justify spending this much money on a headset when there are others out that can do the same for much less and as a plus aren't as flashy as these are.
They are a nope. When will people learn that these are trash. They sound quality isn't good, a lot of plastic and will break in about a year. For that price, you can get HD 558, SMSL Headphone amp and mod mic. You will have way better sound quality, higher volumes, clarity, durable and more importantly.....the mid will sound 10x better. "When you pay more, You don't always get what you want" Remember that.
Nick Opz my bad. it was supposed to be Modmic. it's a mic that you can stick on to your headphones. search modmic on youtube. you sill see what it is. cost around 60ish but sound way better than any headset mic.
I will say that I've had a few gaming headsets and every single one has died. I still have my Astro A40's from 2009 and use it daily. the cables are falling apart and the mix amp looks old. Yet they refuse to die on me they may no longer look new but one thing is for sure. They still work.
Got mine over black Friday with the mod kit. $255.00 bucks total (that's a worth it price). As far as the mic issue, there is already a fix for it posted in TH-cam videos. You just have to switch to the original driver for the mic (not the drivers for the headphones, JUST the mic drivers). You can access these drivers off from Astro's site and download them. The mic with the original drivers makes the sound quality nearly on par with all the top headset mic's out there (night and day improvement, you will be very happy). These headphones aren't perfect, but I would consider them, quite possibly the most well rounded headset out there in their price range (even above their range over other, more expensive headsets). They do the Dolby 7.1 beautifully, They have features up the wazoo, excellent mic quality (with the fix), and good customer service with the warranty, should you need it (buy the 1 year extended warranty, just in case, it's only $27.00). I am not biased towards these, truly. I owned the Gen 2's and they had some real issues that bothered me, such as the beeping/buzzing issue from the left ear-cup because of the transmitter installed in it. Astro has improved these gen 3's and they are worth it if you can get a deal on them. If you want the absolute best bang for your buck, then get the Sony Platinum's. They have nearly the same sound quality for half the price. They are almost as comfortable. They are lighter. They also have a solid build quality (Sony). One drawback is that their max volume is not as good as the A50's (it's noticeable, but not a major decision breaking issue). The other thing is that the 7.1 isn't as spacious and immersive as the A50's (again, it's not a major difference you can only notice it if you compare the two). Lastly the A50's have a bit more bass. Overall the Sony Platinum's kick ass and would be the best value for what you get.
The thing is I can use these a50s totally wireless on many platforms while maintains the 7.1. That's the problem with many headsets that are wireless. Can't be cross platform or will lose its 7.1 capabilities on certain things. And for people giving other options stfu. I don't want a wired headset and a blue yeti mic lol. Not trying to be a fucking DJ while I game
Ricardo Ngh mic is trash and the volume is pathetic. The sound quality was great, but not enough volume is usually a no go for most people. It cuts off just when the set starts to sound good. The Elites were a fail imo, had so much potential.
Unfortunately mine broke/right ear hinge snapped. Build quality not the greatest. I must say that I’ve been using them with care but it still broke. Not satisfied and for that price tag the elite 800 is not worth it in the long run. Had mine barely for 2 years.
For future reference, when you talk about the quality of a mic, show a sound sample from the mic itself so we can hear what it sounds like. Anyway, I love the production quality of this video :)
Well think of it this way. Every time you quit gaming you set your headset down somewhere. So now you would just set it on the charging dock, and theoretically you would never have the headset die while gaming. Unless you play 12-15 hour sessions. In that case... well I can’t help you.
djsmith_13 I was literally thinking that you would also want these when I found the comment😂😂 I just want these so bad but they are a lot so I only have the a10s🙁😂😂
dear uravgconsumer ... heeeyyyy it's Mylo again yeah man ... I know what your thinking again *dang thus guy really tryna get that switch huh* and yes , yes I am the switch is amazing and I don't just want it fam I NEED IT LIKE A HUMAN NEEDS AIR ... and you know what I just noticed your editing is low-key good as hell like for real you getting shots of you playing doom and nice pans and angles of the headphones it's to a point where I'm not even concerned about what ur saying I'm just satisfied looking at the vid keep it up
The docking station is a nightmare for me. Whenever I put my headset on the dock, it doesn't charge. That's because it has to be perfectly inline with the 3 pins, and if even 1 of those pins don't line up, then it won't charge. And if you don't notice it and fix it, your headset will mess up and no longer work until you reset it, which is just the most awkward thing ever! I got these for $120, so I really shouldn't be complaining, but goddamn is it annoying putting these things on charge. I actually believe it would be faster to simply use a micro-usb cable, which defeats the whole purpose of the charging docking station.
I had the same problem with mine (which costed about 220 euro). Wireless which is so worthless because they dont work properly at all! Sound cut out when sitting next to the computer... worst it when I'm trying to speak on discord with them. Constant cutting out and lagging so yeah. For that price I'm appalled how bad they are.
I've had mine since Christmas. It's my first wireless gaming headset. I've never had any issues with sound quality, connectivity, or any microphone distortion. The ONLY issue I've experienced is the magnetic charging. When I place the headset over the base station so that the magnets "grab" the earcups supposedly into place they don't always seat correctly and the headset doesn't begin charging. This happened a week or so after I had them and when I came back the next evening to start gaming they were at around 50% charge. If I carefully place each earcup into the base station I'll usually get the yellow charging indicator (you'll even see in the video when he "drops" the headset into the base station the red light stays on and doesn't turn yellow; that means it's not charging). Sometimes it takes a little wiggle or two but it's definitely a little disappointing. To me though it's minor compared to having a great sounding wireless headset. Plus the mixing on the earcup (voice / game) works wonders for various on-the-fly situations.
I got A50s back in the ps3 days because every COD player had to have astros so I got them. Even though they are 1st gen they are still amazing and I haven’t stopped using them since. Really good headset
Crazy thing is, if you've got a base station, all you needs is a data connection from any USB port to power it. And you can use a Toslink switcher to play between consoles. No reason to buy two base stations, and that also applies to the new Astro headsets as well!
for someone considering theses, a point to consider is that the headphones are so loud that the fabric earcups leak a ton of sound and creates echos in chat so if you game with friends leather is mandatory.
i have the older A50 now for almost 2 years and they are awesome, the sound is really good. The sound of music is really clear i found it even better then the sennheiser 2.0. Its an awesome gaming headset and really worth the money
Should do a video of the best "dope" gaming headphones for PS4. Also I have the Astro A40s you're definitely right about the Mic it seem to follow them on plenty of the headsets they make. Had to use the software you can download, and open the gate to a different setting. Now I come through crystal clear, but so does everything else in the background.
Make a new video on the LATEST Gen 3 Astro A50... The mic is much better now with the new firmware updated fixing all problems. Best headset I've ever used!
I ended up picking up the older A40s that came with the mixamp for $175 from Astros site. I don't think I'd pay $300 for a headset, but at $175 these are absolutely great for anyone interested.
You deserve my Sub for your honesty, been watching your videos for ages good job 👍. I’m on my third headset in 6 months all from turtle beach and they all broke “snapped”, the elite 800 lasted 1 week. I know decided that I’ll never buy another turtle slow but quick to break. Shame I liked the px24 better than the elite 800, I don’t know what to get now, I’m o. PS4 help!!!!
What would you recommend for the best all around gaming headphones? I mainly use my XB1X. Also that base station would be a great addition to my entertainment center. Thanks and keep up the great vidoes.
Hey man! Watched your review and decided I'd just buy these for both my PC and ps4 as the turtle beach elite 800 just didn't seem like a good fit for me. You've had these for a while. What's your experience like after all this time?
Dope. My brother and I lucked out on black friday last year. I think they were 35% off, maybe it was 30%....either way I saved over $100 on them.....and still worth every fucking penny I tell you
Since i live in australia this headset cost me almost $500 but I really love it. I've had them for a year and a half now and they are a great pair of headset and there wireless 2 which I love about them cause me a wires have a long history. Only 1 problem I experience with them once a day when using them, me and my friends call it Robot, when my mic at a random point of the day start sounding like a robot , its not lag i checked that and the only way to stop it is to wait it out which is like 5 minutes or turn your headset off and on again.
I have the man o war wireless from Razer and it's great for both music and gaming. While I do have to be a little careful with them since they're not all that well built, the price tag for the sound is pretty great. Plus, completely custom EQ even though the default settings already sound great.
The headset is DOPE but the price is HELLLL NOPE!!

RedTech Do you game on PC or Console ?
My wife just got me this for my birthday! Thank you very much for the description!!! It has helped me look into the insight of this headset. I cant complain though! This is one hell of a present and by faar the best I've ever had!
I'm glad you enjoyed your equipment. That's all that matters :)
Legend has it if I'm early he will comment back.
Sup!
YourAvgConsumer reply to me also plzz
UrAvgConsumer common bro!! where is my avrg consumer!?
I'll just continue using my Sony Pulse Elite headset for my PS4 and for listening to music on my S7 Edge. Love this Headset. You inspired me to get it, from watching one of your previous videos. So thank you for that. Got a brand new one for less than $100.
Honey where's my super suit?
waat?
i said WHERE'S MY SUPER SUIT
I don’t get it.
Hey Judnar, I appreciate the review of these headphones. You're right the $300 price tag is too much to ask. I appreciate your honesty with these headphones, great video review.
Did anyone notice him watching Full Metal Alchemist:Brotherhood?
yes and i subed lol
Hey you are almost at a million subs!!! We've come a long way.
In Philipines this is worth 25000+ pesos just the cost of the ps4 pro here :)
Might aswell buy a ps4 pro
It's a big dope for the price I got it. The price of 159.99 USD on sale. Though I still prefer my Bose QC352, I mainly got it for an upcoming Christmas gift my brother, he's used to 50 dollar razer headphones that are shit, it'll be a good change for sure.
Best generation of the A50s by far.
Sherlock its the fucking newest model of course its the best
They have a common fault atm where they disconnect from the base station, after a couple of hard resets they gave up. Really disappointed in them, luckily I got a refund, razer and hyper cloud both look promising.
I've had these since launch and they've held up brilliantly, honestly worth the money
that ps4 thoe, you teasing me I might just get one.
I owned a 50$ headset from amazon that I used since before I went to 6th grade and worked until I got new ones this summer... I'm in 11th now
It’s made for people who want a much more way to play video game’s
I highly recommend the A10, A20, A30, A40, and the A50
Pick the one that’s best for your gaming needs
It’s actually pretty cheap, I got mine for $40 on Christmas Day, i was shocked, and after I used it for 3 days, i loved it...
Sadly I’m not gonna call someone with those gaming headsets cuz most people don’t care about how expensive they are...(even if they’d yell so loud)
And I’ll say this again...I’d highly recommend & suggest any A10(or) even if your trying to save some money for Xmas or even maybe a best friend
_( 2020 / January / 1st / 8:12 PM )_
It's a huge no. Do NOT buy this thing. I promise you, a wired option like the A40 is significantly better in sound, and will last longer.
Trent Mathews Who cares about wired stuff. Wired is the best
A40 isn't wireless. So no thanks.
Falconbox Trust me. The A50 is trash.
Trent Mathews nope
Jimmy O Sullivan yep
Watching your videos is better than watching adverts on the television, you give more details.
What's the new keyboard on his desk?
Bernard Simon Corsair K95
MandosGTIAllDay what is a mod mic?
Nick Opz my bad. it was supposed to be Modmic.
it's a mic that you can stick on to your headphones.
search modmic on youtube. you sill see what it is. cost around 60ish but sound way better than any headset mic.
No thanks. I need wireless.
MandosGTIAllDay I've had my A40s for 4 years and I haven't had any issues like what you're talking about
MandosGTIAllDay
Literally had my a40s for over a year and the plastic is completely fine.
Great review. I like how you always try to color coordinate to match the product you are reviewing. It's a nice touch.
When are you dropping a Nintendo switch video?!
Raul Martinez when its out
Raul Martinez because its not your avrg consumer....actually everything is expensive lately i. his videos
Jason Bourney he said "when" not "why"
I will say that I've had a few gaming headsets and every single one has died.
I still have my Astro A40's from 2009 and use it daily.
the cables are falling apart and the mix amp looks old.
Yet they refuse to die on me they may no longer look new but one thing is for sure.
They still work.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
This mic is dope
But my wallet says nope
Not trying to be a fucking DJ while I game
for Real yo will look like dj
All you would have to do is plug it into the controller. You sound like such an idiot.
No honestly though the 7.1 surround sound and sound quality is fucking insane on this headset. Like it’s fucking insane omg.
The elite 800s are better guys
Ricardo Ngh mic is trash and the volume is pathetic. The sound quality was great, but not enough volume is usually a no go for most people. It cuts off just when the set starts to sound good. The Elites were a fail imo, had so much potential.
Ricardo Ngh I have the Elite 800s myself
Unfortunately mine broke/right ear hinge snapped. Build quality not the greatest. I must say that I’ve been using them with care but it still broke. Not satisfied and for that price tag the elite 800 is not worth it in the long run. Had mine barely for 2 years.
For future reference, when you talk about the quality of a mic, show a sound sample from the mic itself so we can hear what it sounds like. Anyway, I love the production quality of this video :)
Way too overpriced. Sure it can sound amazing but that mic tho...300 dollars folks
It seems ok with me
These are so comfy and light. Recomend it for birthday or Christmas!!!
I want them but you need to charge them 😂
Well think of it this way. Every time you quit gaming you set your headset down somewhere. So now you would just set it on the charging dock, and theoretically you would never have the headset die while gaming. Unless you play 12-15 hour sessions. In that case... well I can’t help you.
djsmith_13 ummmmmm😂
Tommy Black ummm😂😂weird seeing u here
djsmith_13 I was literally thinking that you would also want these when I found the comment😂😂
I just want these so bad but they are a lot so I only have the a10s🙁😂😂
Tommy Black add me on snapchat roshan_12345 i want to see the a10s
That was real cool man, glad you're always honest with your reviews.
📌Pinned by UrAvgConsumer
if this gets pinned thank you
These are a go if you plan on having them for a good time and have the money. I still have my 2012 Astros A50s. Still going strong.💪
I totally agree with this review, I was expecting better sound quality for the price.
dear uravgconsumer ... heeeyyyy it's Mylo again yeah man ...
Plus the mixing on the earcup (voice / game) works wonders for various on-the-fly situations.
i can not really compare the A50's to something else but imo listening to music especially while having the leather earcups on just sounds awesome
I liked the video before it even started. Love your videos
Since your voice is quite base I love that it suits my ears ..... anyway I enjoy all your videos
i have the older A50 now for almost 2 years and they are awesome, the sound is really good. The sound of music is really clear i found it even better then the sennheiser 2.0. Its an awesome gaming headset and really worth the money
Love your videos man. They're pretty entertaining, and unbiased. 🔥👊
Love the dope or nope videos, keep up the good luck
Super informative video and cleanly edited as well. Thank you
Great vid. Gaming on the PS4, is there a separate chat volume and one for the game volume?
I just purchased these at Game Stop I'll be back with a review soon.
Yoooo I rememeber this dude It been so long, since I watch your vid, I watch you alot 2015 and 2014. Just sub keep it up.🔥🔥🔥🔥
what a smooth voice , pleasant to listen to
Congrats on 1 million followers!!!
This is the best review I’ve seen soo far 👍
Tuff video dude. Absolutely love the opinion. Keep the videos coming bro!
I ended up picking up the older A40s that came with the mixamp for $175 from Astros site. I don't think I'd pay $300 for a headset, but at $175 these are absolutely great for anyone interested.
DAMN...just noticed you under 30k from the big 1! HYPE!!!
Thanks for the review, man. I like the idea of a great quality headset, but it looks like this isn't the one. Keep it up
ALMOST AT 1M CONGRATS
You deserve my Sub for your honesty, been watching your videos for ages good job 👍. I’m on my third headset in 6 months all from turtle beach and they all broke “snapped”, the elite 800 lasted 1 week. I know decided that I’ll never buy another turtle slow but quick to break. Shame I liked the px24 better than the elite 800, I don’t know what to get now, I’m o. PS4 help!!!!
Thank you for your solid review! Would you happen to have a review on the Logitech g933 headphones?
Hey love your review videos!! What other headsets for PS4 do you recommend which sound like Astros but cost significantly less? Thank you
My 4th pair of A50's in the mail, can't wait to try out 3rd gen!
What would you recommend for the best all around gaming headphones? I mainly use my XB1X.
Also that base station would be a great addition to my entertainment center.
Thanks and keep up the great vidoes.
You're the best videos maker! Keep it up man!💪😎
came for the gundams and stayed for the quality of the vids! 👍
Don't mind having those. Since having both systems. Great vide
Hey man! Watched your review and decided I'd just buy these for both my PC and ps4 as the turtle beach elite 800 just didn't seem like a good fit for me. You've had these for a while. What's your experience like after all this time?
I thought that was a Skin on your PS4 for a second. Looks cool though! Where did you get it done?
Dope. My brother and I lucked out on black friday last year. I think they were 35% off, maybe it was 30%....either way I saved over $100 on them.....and still worth every fucking penny I tell you
pennywise247 pun intended lol
Honestly thought you said “ my brother and I fucked out “
Since i live in australia this headset cost me almost $500 but I really love it.
Great video, used to love the last gen astro's
Nice review, but I was expecting a mic test part.
That price tag is INSANE! at least include the freaking base station jeezas lol
u r the best ytber ever u deserve far more than a mil
