Aries is a member of the Aeta, the first inhabitants of the Philippines.
Since the devastating volcanic eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991, Aries and his people have had to alter their traditional way of life in order to survive the changes brought to the landscape.
Compounded by the pressures of industrialization and colonization, the eruption has threatened their ability to live off the land.
Aries and his community are turning to farming as the bridge towards healing themselves, their traditions and their past.
    Join the journey!

Greetings from Fiji 🇫🇯 keep the love tolerate each other. Respect the Indigenous People. The Aeta's are the first arrivals... However, it pays to corporate and share. Our moment on earth is brief... Our legacy is not what we possess but what we share.

The aetas were closely related to the people of Fiji who used to lived in the phil but because of Malay migration was driven into the mountains and into the sea reaching Pacific islands those that were driven to the mountains were the ancestors of these people

Very nice documentary. Someday, I'll have to visit my homeland. I left Pampanga in 1988. I was only 7 years old. I can see Mtn Pinatubo from where I used to lived as a kid. Aetas will have to become farmers & know about agriculture in order to survive. No matter how modernized the society will become, never ever lose the indigenous culture. City life is poisoning & it's ruining the environment in the planet. The world can learn from our culture...live simply & happily. I would love to learn the traditions so I can pass it on to the future generations so this planet can survive & not destroy the environment & ultimately not kill the people who inhabit this planet. Us, city people, are killing the environment by the material things in life because we were never taught to live simply & happily. Aetas have so much to show the rest of the world to respect mothernature & in return, mothernature will give back to us 100 times more. Aetas are rich in knowledge, please teach the future generations your knowledge.

@@kaneja2861 Obviously the human race can trace its origins in Africa technically human beings no matter the skin color, religion, culture, and languages comes from Africa in in north Kenya you can even search it up in the internet for evidence it isn’t only the Chinese that trace its origins in Africa but the whole human race

Great documentary although the translation IS VERY MUCH lacking and loses the important points the Aeta people were trying to communicate. I would seek to change the transcription to have a much more accurate representation of their narrative. You can personally contact me as I am fluent in Tagalog and am knowledgable on how to accurately translate the words and stories and perspectives of my people.

This documentary was very good. I have been to Mount Pinatubo. I have seen and bought bananas from the Aetas. It's a nice little trek from when you get off the 4x4 jeeps and a small hike to the crater. It is such a Serene place to be walking where there was so much destruction .Blessings from Bermuda via Boston USA

At 10:21 the lady mentions that their change of diet has led to sickness. It's a pity they are not growing the same food as prior to the volcano eruption.

I salute the Aetas for what they believe and stand for . High respect to nature. I can believe Koreans had more rights than the Native Filipino. Don't they have lands reserved for the Aetas . Don't they get any protection from the government of their lands so they can live with nature. Pls. help this people retain their culture and history.

The Aetas have their own language, which is different from the dominant Tagalog/Pilipino language. Why can they not be allowed or encouraged to speak in their own language? After all, subtitles in English or Pilipino can be used for the non-Aeta-speaking viewers.

Never from Africa 🌍 These people are the native indigenous people of the Philippines. It would surprise a lot of people that china, Korea and Japan 🗾 had black indigenous people but they don't want people know that part of History.
