The 3DS boss fights aren't necessarily bad, I actually like most of them. However, the rival fights... they weren't as good as their home console counter parts. Specifically because they based them off the Sonic Rivals encounters. Also, those locations for those rival fights were somewhat strange choices, except for the Shadow rival fight. That one reminded me of the Sonic Adventure 2 opening more than anything, which I did appreciate that.😅

I almost forgot, but I have to give points to the 3DS exclusive boss fights having some of the greatest boss remixes in the franchise. I'm looking at you, Big Arms. It's such a great track. It's just unfortunately cut short by how long you can take out the boss, which is roughly 30 seconds to beat. 😂

1 thing I would like for SEGA to fix in Sonic Gens 2.0 is to allow Sonic to die during Shadow's rival battle. It just feels less of a challenge when you don't feel like there's anything that can actually harm Sonic, aside from not having any rings when you get hit by 1 of Shadow's chaos spears, but that doesn't happen quite often during the fight.
