      I was with 5 others on a trail ride; and, a man almost backed his horse right on top of an Eastern diamond back rattlesnake. It didn't make a sound. I don't know how I spotted it ~ perhaps divine intervention. I calmly let everyone know; and, we guided Tom & Thunder safely away from the 🐍.
      It was creepy and cool at the same time.

    Coach whip is beautiful. As for the rattle snakes I am a fan but I’ve had a few too many close calls. I worked at a Boy Scout camp in Utah and went on an over night canoe trip. I laid down to go to sleep and maybe 20 mins later my friend is yelling at me to get up. I ask why? He says dude there is a rattle snake five feet to you left. Sure enough I look over and that’s the fastest I’ve ever gotten out of a sleeping bag before. I never went on the canoe trip again.

      For me it was a big , ticked off copperhead in the middle of a trail called "rattlesnake ridge" at a girl scout camp in Indiana. We were on horseback and snake was sunning itself until we disturbed it. Horses freaking out, counselors yelling at us to control our horses; real fun time lol. And yes, I went back to horse camp the next summer!

    • @lordtoe666
      @lordtoe666 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn’t sound fun. I’m glad none of you or your horses got hurt. I was in Bear Lake Utah where rattlesnakes are very frequent. It wasn’t the only encounter I had we’d have to close certain paths every day because of snakes being right next to those paths sitting in the shade.

      @@kurtastrophe9183 I would call 911 and ask what to do. Just because you're near a hospital doesn't mean they have what is needed there - you may drive yourself to the hospital and wait only to find out that they need to put you in an ambulance and take you across town anyway. The best way to get plugged into the right action is to simply call 911 and let them take care of the rest. If you're out of service, you should still try anyway, since 911 service will override any individual network and you may actually have coverage. If you work or recreate routinely in areas without service, it would be good to consider getting a satellite communication device (they're relatively cheap now) or an iPhone 14 pro, which has a new satellite SOS system.
