    I have always been terrified of snakes. Your videos are fascinating! I learn so much from you. Now, when I see the prairie rattlers common in my area, I won't panic (as much). Thanks.

    Great episode! I was worried that I would have RSS withdrawals, since Bryan is going king cobra hunting in India!!
    Marissa clearly order all extra spicy sneks! And all the multiple snake encounters were SO cool. Love you guys, blessings from an old lady in Southern California. (I have cautioned my husband to look before he puts his hands or feet anywhere, when working in our small, xeriscaped yard!! We definitely have created prime habitat! Don't use any chemicals because I love all our critters. Tons of alligator lizards, probably some blue bellies. No insect problem because enough hungry lizards. Keep safe. Y'all do such important work.

    I want to say thank you for such an informative site you have. We moved to Gold Canyon from Wisconsin 2 years a go. We came home from Dinner on Monday night and i spotted a big snake on my back porch. I instantly recognized that it wasn't a rattle snake, thx to your channel. It was a gopher snake. 2 years a go i would have killed it. Thanks to you and your team, i picked it up with my pinchers, similar to yours and safely released it back to the desert behind our house. Keep up the great work and thank you for educating me on snakes

    I really like that first woman's front door. That's a big door.
    I have relatives in Scottsdale and part of the fun of going there is checking out the wildlife in that area. Right around their house there's javelina's, bobcats, gila monsters and other lizards, snakes, etc. I could do without some of the spiders and scorpions though. It's fun to see a tarantula or scorpion out in the desert, but not fun to see them on your pillow. I found what I think was a brown recluse on my bed once. Now I double check the pillows and under the sheets when I'm there.

    Here in Colorado we kinda live with nature. You have a snake and you are kinda on your own, Every video I watch I think I need to get a snake tongs. Luckily for me the only snakes I have had to deal with so far are gopher snakes (we call them bull snakes up here). My son lives close to an open space and has had to erect snake fence in his backyard. We tend to plant marigolds and other plants around our homes as snake repellents. You guys are amazing. Glad you are out there.

    I work at an airport in the PNW. An employee found a Pacific Gopher Snake in an indoor equipment storage area recently. He killed it because "it got defensive". Then, he showed the pictures of this to anyone who would look, laughing and joking. That really bothered me. Even if I didn't watch this channel, it would still have bothered me.
    A couple of years ago, one of my employees came into our offices stating there was a "big" snake on the ramp. It was a Gopher Snake. It was on the road, and I wondered how it hadn't been run over, with all the fuel trucks and ramp equipment using it. I went into the nearby brush, got a branch, got the snake to climb onto it and, while holding its tail, carried it back into the woods. No drama.
    The reactions were: "Why didn't you just kill it?" A lack of education about wildlife makes people VERY narrowminded.

      @JW...-oj5iw ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You took one step toward snake handling. Good job. Gopher snakes, especially these here in the Scottsdale area, are very mellow and rarely take any offense at being gently carried in hand. Basically you have nothing to fear from the gopher snakes and if you do have the fear and want to rid yourself of it, just take the opportunity of finding some out there and picking them up near the center of the body and not squeezing them. As you do it, you'll learn how they move and what you need to do to keep them comfortable and not falling. Let them try your hands near their mouths as they use their tongues to sample your odor. If you have water in a small container such as a bottle cap, offer a drink. They rarely have enough water and they fill up if they have the opportunity. If I had the opportunity, I'd welcome gopher snakes to my house and get some mice for them.

      @@JW...-oj5iw Thank you for the kind words.
      The areas which I hike in are pine forests at higher elevations. I will see the occasional Garter snake, but I've never seen a Gopher snake out there. By the abundance of chipmunks I see, I would expect large(ish), non-venomous snakes hunting them. There are Pacific Rattlesnakes at the lower, drier regions such as Redmond, OR. They're rumoured to be on the outskirts of the town of Sisters, as well. I hike out there as well, but I've read these snakes are incredibly tough to spot. I've never even heard a rattle. What bothered me the most is we get birds in the rafters, chipmunks running around the terminal building sometimes, yet they instantly call Animal Services. A snake: Kill it!.
