    I used to suffer from huge discomfort in my hamstrings, I only discovered later and also thanks to your videos that I was simply stretching ineffectively and even if I was working on my flexibility I wasn’t strong enough to sustain the split pose. Now I am able to do the front and middle split and I do not suffer from any pain anymore! It’s a journey but it definitely pays off

    Why is it so hard to find info about this injury? Thank you for taking the time to make this video. How are you doing now? Are you all healed up?

    I was incredibly dumb and did the splits from a jump (while drinking) and not warming up. I tore both hamstrings at the same time at the tendon just below the glute. 8-12 months PT plan. Couldn't stand/ walk for two days and had to use wheelchair. For 2 weeks i Couldn't even sit on a seat or toilet. Couldn't even sit up when stretching with a straight leg. Good info but If the injury just happened, ice and rest for 2-3 days before movement. Eat a high protein diet, in a caloric surplus, and include vitamins. Stretch everyday and only add in these exercises if it's not too painful. Timeline on when and how to do rehab is more important than the exercise itself. (195lbs who used to deadlift 605lbs. Took 2 months before I could leg curl 15 lbs).

    Thank you for this video! I got this like a year ago so I don't think it ever went away but I would stop stretching for like a week and then it would feel fine. And then I would have flare ups sometimes if I stretched a lot/pushed really far. But it would always subside in a couple days. But recently I've been training with heavy weights and I've been doing weighted squats for a couple weeks and recently I've been noticing that pain getting a lot worse when I squat heavy. And the pain also carries over to when I try stretching my splits. It's been a couple days and I haven't stretched at all but I still feel the pain occasionally it's definitely the worst this time. Hopefully I can get back to stretching soon :(

      Hi Michael,
      Sounds like a tendinopathy. This is unfortunately what happens when you don fully recover it. It will be coming back when squatting heavy and stretching. I have had mind for 3 year. The first two years even though I knew I should’ve been rehabing it I did not (hard to admit but this is the truth). One year ago I started seeing a physio again and got some dry needling done for it and ongoing rehab for a few months and it helped me a lot. Unofficial advice and a treatment you could look at as well is getting a blood injection there. It is a very effective way of recovering tendons. Some doctors and physios are against it and there are reason for it. Read yourself up on it and see w physio. I wanted to get it myself but it was very difficult to get a referral to one and only doctor that does it here. In Poland where I am originally from it is very normal form of treatment.
      Not giving any official advice as I have not diagnosed your injury in person just a few things you can read about and ask you physio ☺️

    Omg so i have this. I even have the exact moment on video when i pushed too much into my splits. It hasn't been the same since, it makes my pancakes and middles worse too. It always takes extra time to warm up. My other leg front splits has well overtaken the injured leg now 😅😢

    • @stretchandtrain

      Sounds exactly like a tendonitis! My is on the lateral head and your sounds like one on your medial (closer to the middle/inside of your leg) So my middles are not affected like yours but you should definitely try these exercises and I will give you some more if you like during our next weeks zoom ? ☺️

    I think I have got this in the tendon at the inner back side of my knee. It also started when I stretched too intensive and maybe I wasn't warmed up enough as well. Do you also know an exercise for this part? That would be wonderful! I also thought that it would be best not to stretch this part right now. Would you recommend to take a brake from stretching?

    • @stretchandtrain
      @stretchandtrain  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This is a bit difficult to reply to as I would not want to give you any bad advice. If it doesn't hurt when stretching nor after I think stretching it should be fine. However, if you do feel any pain after stretching or when coming our of your stretch it is probably not good to stretch it. It is also super important to do rehab for it. All the best :)

      Thanks for your comment. It is hard for me to give an exact answer but hope this is of help. I would recommend you see a physio even just for one sessions. They will help you determine what the injury is. If you feel pain when stretching splits I myself would not stretch them as if the injury is there pain indicates you are aggravating it so better not to push in splits and let is heal
      completely before stretching more. :)
