Anime only; I am really concerned for Norn. She gets to find out that her father died, her mother is mentally gone, Aisha's mother returned safe(if probably very hurt), her brother is missing an arm, and now he's brought some new woman in. And she's the one who told her brother to go.
She also has to reconcile with the alternative: that Paul would have died in the Labyrinth even without Rudeus there, or come home empty handed after potential years of failure of not being able to reach Zenith, or she simply would have never seen him again and he might have chosen to stay in Begaritte. That Zenith may never have been found in the labyrinth at all. That Zenith could have died before they reached her. Or that sending Rudeus may have not changed a thing and that she could have been sending even her brother off to die (which almost did happen.) There's a lot of circumstances that could have happened. The fact of it all is though, she is going to be devastated, and she will probably try to blame Rudeus to a degree.
@@jeremypurdy1833 I dunno, with as close as Norn got to Rudy before he left, I think she'll be mad more at herself than at Rudy--though I agree with you that she will blame him about Roxy, even if Sylphie doesn't on that score.
The fact that this is so messy, thier love for eachother all over the place, the feelings of love yet not wanting to betray lotalty is what makes this feel so real. I find this far more interesting than cut and dry feelings because love is never black and white.
As a WN reader from way before the first season came out I didn't think it was that bad of an episode adaptation-wise, the first season had episodes like this where they skipped A LOT of stuff so I'm just used to it. The bar scene and his "fake" story being skipped is sad, but that's just how the adaptation has been since the beginning, a lot of things need to be cut for the story to fit in just two cours. Many LN readers are mad and I wholeheartedly understand them, but some are taking it too far and are saying some real bad stuff about the people behind this amazing project and the people that enjoyed the episode that I just don't feel it's fair
Exactly, As an LN reader myself I know there was a lot condensed/skipped/rearranged, but I thought they did it very tastefully. I do like how they changed the pregnancy thing. Elinalise now convinces Rudy based on how she knows that Rudy actually does love Roxy so she just nudged gently in that direction. People have to remember that Roxy is basically Elinalise's best friend or was for a quite some time, and it's killing her to listen to her friend cry herself to sleep at night.
And it’s not like because they skipped it, it doesn’t mean that it can’t be use on the story later on and who knows they might put those skipped contents even better than the LN.
@@dbuy3 those are very good facts, I just think that the moment he said about that content. I think they handled better this episode on those topics you just talked about and I am grateful for first watching it here in Anime format.
I honestly preferred the way the bedroom scene with Roxy went, short and sweet but didn't skip over the conflict. I would have preferred the bar scene before to be included and the morning after scene to be relatively similar but the scene itself shows more than you'd expect emotionally, if you read between the lines (make your own headcannon) Honestly I think in an effort to sanitise the story they had to make it so Roxy took advantage of that situation, which she 100% did in this version. The characters are messy in a realistic way and I'm glad they went the route of Roxy being the one to make the advance rather than Rudeus. It adds a bit of grit to an otherwise cutesy, do no wrong character
Same! I really personally like the few changes the anime has made so far. And I like how they give the anime viewers room to make their own interpretations rather than letting us hear every single other character's inner thoughts.
I haven’t read the novels but the sense I got from Paul’s request to Rudy for him to save Zenith even if it kills him is that Paul needed Rudy’s absolute best and he wasn’t sure he would live any further to see what that potential looks like on full display. Paul was pretty desperate with that hydra but there’s a sense Paul understands he can’t beat the hydra unless Rudy lives up to his prodigy potential and Rudy was hesitant during that first round in the chamber. So Paul dies with a smile on his face because (1) he always intended to protect Rudy during that fight even at the cost of not knowing if his wife would be saved; (2) when Paul had to jump in, it was because Rudy had done exactly as Paul said, focusing on making sure the hydra was near defeat without any other tricks; (3) he got to see what his son was capable of; (4) he could take pride that he saved Rudy, his son defeated a hydra, and it was only possible because of his son’s plan to cauterize the heads; and (5) Paul finally, unequivocally, got to do one last thing that only a great father would do after 17 years of feeling like he had nothing to offer his prodigy son. This is all just my interpretation of the context and I prefer believing that Paul had this flash-before-his-eyes moment that brings his fatherhood full circle from a guy who could only teach swordsmanship to his son, to a father that begrudgingly learned from his son about listening before acting, to ultimately expressing his own love and wisdom through his swordsmanship (the two swords lesson, showing off right before the final room, and demonstrating honed reflexes to pull a party member out of danger) as his son now respected the one last request he would ever make of him.
My interpretation was, considering how distant Rudy is and unable to understand or express his emotions, and Paul's own feelings of inadequacy - seeing Rudy's devastated, naked expression of shock and loss breaking through his shell told him his son did love him right before he went.
As an anime only, I feel like there were 3 things you talked about that I didn't understand from the episode. One is Elianlise planning to get them together from the start, the amount of money that they now have, and Rudy giving the reincarnation story to Roxy. Everything else I feel like I got from the episode.
I've just started watching this video, but I've read book 12 like 8 times. Anyway, the first to come up with this option was Geese (after looking at Elinalise he brought up the option of "getting lucky" to cheer Rudeus up). Elinalise wouldn't do it and a brothel would probably not work so they were just going to wait thinking Rudeus was strong so he would surely get over it himself (which is when Roxy took it upon herself to do something).
Some of the stuff Rudeus says in the anime, he actually just thought to himself (mainly how he hadn't changed and made the same mistake). After the deed, he DOES tell Roxy a fictional/hypothetical story talking about his experience without mentioning himself and being a little vague. But Rudeus does mention Roxy seems to think he is giving her some sort of metaphorical story. So I doubt she figured out he had reincarnated.
By the time Rudeus got to Sharia he had been saving all the money he earned. He had also kept almost all the money they made with the Dead End party (and while in Millis they got some money from the Search and Rescue team that had been allotted to transport Eris if she was found). Though he used a bunch of money buying the manor/small mansion he lives in. Then he received more money when Norn and Aisha arrived. And then he received his share of the loot from the Teleporter Labyrinth. He said he pretty much had enough money to live comfortably for over a decade at that point (and gets even more later, haha)....
Anyway, Elinalise didn't plan to get Rudeus and Roxy together from the start. But it probably did become like that some time later. Could have been the "morning after" or more likely at the stop over in Bazaar (which was cut in the anime). Elinalise took most of the women to have a drink, Roxy got hammered and spilled her heart to Elinalise (and probably complained to her, since you could feel she was frustrated that Elinalise never gave her a heads up). Anyway, during the Elinalise and Rudeus conversation. Rudeus had already admitted internally he loved Roxy, but he didn't want to break his promise any further, so Elinalise resorted to lying to Rudeus. She made it sound like Roxy was probably pregnant. And that was the last push Rudeus needed to change his mind. So in the book it ends up as a mix of love and wanting to take responsibility. But you do get the feeling that Rudeus really loved Roxy and wanted to make her happy too.
As a LN reader and as much content that had to be cut they still did a really great job and showed Roxy's intimate feelings towards rudeus was very well showed compared to what i would have expected. They also didn't do bad showing how Rudy truly started viewing paul even if it was a tiny bit and it almost brought me to tears. I cant wait to see this episode get dubbed its only gonna display the emotions of this episode even more for me. Happy Mushoku Sunday ❤!
Yeah that was a huge manipulation from grandma's side. I thought they would kept it to make Rudy not look that scummy, but I guess he's scummy regardless, this way they made the relationship between Rudy x Roxy more genuine.
That's the thing I'm happy they cut. Didn't like it in the novels at all, it seemed too cheap to force Rudy into a shotgun wedding instead of having him decide to marry her out of his own volition
These skipped content videos are a great lifeline as an anime only. I feel so much more fulfilled after learning all of this context. I absolutely adore this anime.
34:04 Yea I feel so sorry for Lilia, she’s lost Paul and now has to look after Zenith, she’s so strong. She’s the one character that I always wonder is she actually happy, because we rarely see her true feelings.
Anime only, but even then, you can visibly tell how poor Rudius is doing. Jaw line sunken in....etc etc. That said, I would have liked to see the conversation prior. Pregnancy scare is unnecessary. I like the way they did it here. Less manipulation. I also like Roxy's response to Rudy's 'proposal'.
Yea Absolutely agree here. After hearing all the skipped, I have no qualms. Sure roxy being aggressive a bit odd, but i think it all was beautifully done. That prego thing would have been sooooo bad to me.
@@rhinoplug5491 I read the novel myself, and...yeah I didn't care for that part either. The pregnancy scare doesn't end up mattering much in the end, as it's made very clear very quickly that Rudy does really love her, and does need her in his life, but the fact that this is made so clear so quickly is all the more reason that the pregnancy thing just wasn't necessary. They're two grown adults living in a world where having multiple wives is perfectly acceptable. They shouldn't need to be tricked into having a relationship, and they don't need to feel guilty for wanting to be in a relationship. They just need to be honest with Sylphie. So long as she's okay with it, there's really no problem.
@@DevilHunter1994 I'm also glad that pregnancy thing didn't brough up because in the end it just Elinalise lie to get Rudy with Roxy. the whole mood of this episode is sad and wholesome if we just add pregnancy thing it will break immersion of everything
I think they added the pregnancy scare to make Rudeus realize Paul wasn't such a bad guy for stepping up and taking responsibility of both of the women he cherished. Even Rudeus wondered if he could be great as Paul and how he cared for his wives. But yeah I'm glad it was left out, Rudeus would've married Roxy regardless of that, kinda pointless.
It's amazing how many emotions this story can make you feel. Sadness for Paul's death, a bitersweet sensation for Roxy's and Rudy's relationship (I'm team roxy but feel bad for sylph), whatever the emotion rudy is feeling now having to tell Norn about everything that happened... On a side note, I really appreciate having your skipped contents and I look forward to them as part of the Mushoku Tensei experience. You mention that you were disappointed but with your videos it doesn't feel like I missed anything. Keep up the great work.
5:35 After last weeks episode I read/watched Pauls last seconds (from that CD) and his thought before passing on. It just gives so much more context and even more hurt.
Honestly, I love your vids man! These are so insightful and help connect dots so much better in my head as I watch through the anime! I also want to add, never feel the need to rush! We are all hear and want to hear what you have to say, so thanks for making these! If they go long that’s ok by us! (Unless it’s algorithm things!! Then do what you gotta!)
It blows my mind that this anime I put on for background noise, I ended up binging and now and so emotionally invested in that I legitimately got upset when Paul died and gasped when Zenith was Casca'd Also, I really appreciate you doing this. I don't have a lot of time to read manga myself and usually anime is just something in the background for me, but doing this I was able to listen along and get all this missed content. Thank you so much Aweeee, I just realized that Roxy hasn't seen her parents in a long time and she'll be able to show up with the boy they met a few years earlier and a baaaaby
While on one hand yeah the whole skipped context of leaving out the whole reincarnation part hurt plus context why Roxy did what she did hurt I did like leaving out the pregnancy scare from Elieninese as it makes Rudy come out a whole lot better in admitting he loves Roxy. I think removing the pregnancy was a huge plus however all these changes do put Roxy take the for force of" deed". Hot take I kind of prefer it this way as it kind of reinforces that other people then Rudus can do fucked up things despite living otherwise good lifes with good intentions.
Yeah but you can also make the argument that they had to make her act out of character for it to happen,Roxy has always been the purest of souls and here out of nowhere she is making moves on him
@@onesmileybaldy8303 yep, in the LN she was one of the most, if not the most pure character, now she just r*ped rudy when he was depressed with his father death, thats so fked up
33:11 I'm sorry man, the notion of Elinalise setting things up is fanfiction at this point - Geese was the one who gave the idea - Elinalise didn't even explain what it was about when Roxy asked her, it had to be Geese - We get some of Elinalise thoughts, none of them was about Roxy making a move on Rudeus - Elinalise suggested Geese to take Rudeus into a brothel - Elinalise concluded that Rudeus was going to be all rigth - Elinalise was surprised when she saw that Roxy did it - There's not a single moment where anyone suggested or remotely implied that Roxy do it The only moment I could think of is when Elinalise says (he needs someone he trust to lean to) and Geese suggest to send Lilia and Elinalise gets mad at him. But there's never a follow up like "There's someone better for that" or taking glances at Roxy. Absolutely nothing. This is clearly a fan moment of seeing how you think the character would act instead of seeing what the character actually does.
Idk, I read it the same way as him. You have to remember - we see this conversation from the perspective of Roxy, an imperfect narrator. She is seeing what she wants to see, but the audience has seen exactly how manipulative Elinaise has been regarding situations like this. I read this as her getting comparatively straightforward and blunt Geese to say what she could not out of not wanting to directly hurt Sylphie. Given she vocally agrees with Geese's assertion that it be someone Rudeus trusts, it sounded like she was only opposed to the only statement Geese said that she didn't want him to - that the solution was Lilia, not Roxy. Now idk if she expected Roxy to actually go through with it, which is why she's surprised, but someone who is always thinking about these things, clearly knew what Roxy was going to take away from the conversation. Especially given her readiness to lie later. In my opinion there's no way she didn't realize Roxy had a crush on Rudeus. But idk, since she played her hand so vaguely intentionally and we never got her perspective, we many never know. Both are valid opinions. Your comment actually made me have to go back and re-read this, because I'm so used to Elinalise doing stuff like this, that I never even considered the possibility that she might not actually be trying to send hints to Roxy. I'm glad I reread it with that thought in mind.
@@UmiYokai My problem with this is that even if it was from Roxy perspective, we DO get some of Elinalise internal feelings in the text, which were for her to not betray Cliff and Sylphie. It was clearly something she was thinking at the moment, which wouldn't be the case if the current conversation was part of her plan. If the author wanted to imply that Elinalise was manipulating this at the time, I think he would have added at least a "Elinalise glimpses at Roxy" or something like that. It is definitely something Elinalise would do, even though I reach the conclusion that she didn't, it still surprises me if that's the case
@LisaLavitz I'm the same, it's exactly how I took it. She's not dumb. She noticed how Roxy and Rudeus interacted in the labyrinth. She was the one whom roxy told her love story to. She definitely remembers that as there's no way she doesn't. She got mad at the Lilia suggestion too. This was definitely the intent of the scene imho
Knowing the skipped content always provide a new perspective to the anime episode. In fact I usually watch the anime episode before looking forward the skipped content (I dislike spoilers) and immidiately after. Knowing the skipped content enriches the experience.
I have a feeling that putting everything on Roxy and making her more proactive makes the polygamy arc more acceptable for the general audience. It’s still a shame they cut the conversation in the tavern. It gave excellent motivation and justification for Roxy actions, anime only audience may feel negative about Roxy taking advantage of Rudy in his depressed state for her selfish reasons.
I REALLY liked how they handled it. I did not like the idea of Rudy getting a harem basically. BUT, this episode truly made me start changing my stance on it. I still don't fully like it, but I feel much better about the idea and if things went the way they did in the LN, I would've still been very against it.
Yeah I kinda knows hhow it is on the LN... and I watch mushoku alongside some friends that are anime only and yeah, they felt pretty negative against roxy, I had to explain 😅😅
@@kamikaze.33 Nothing is wrong with a harem as long as they execute it right. I mean some religions have harem relationships in real life so it's nothing to really get mad over.
Its a long episode but these questions were in my mind as I watched this last episode. I appreciate your effort in answering them abd assuaging the burning questions and the contexts involved
I like seeing your videos after watching the current episode, gives me context as to what's actually going on. One thing id love to see is maybe some of the manga art splashed in too while talking about the differences. 😁 Love the content and appreciate what you do
As Anime only watcher, who just like to browse on wiki, and spoil stuff to myself, I was really looking forward to this moment, and i was not disappointed. Your video was great for a context, and i will have to read whole LN someday, but I don't feel they did any injustice to source material with the time and format they have. I feel the skipped content is nice thing to know, and I enjoyed the episode even more now knowing what happened in the background, but even without it, i still think this episode was really good and well made. Only thing, where i prefer the LN is propably Roxy being shy, and Rudeus being the aggressive one, but that is simply my preference.
Love your impressions and indepth explanations of LN content cut from the anime. Really makes the short 25 minute episodes feel like fulfilling hour long episodes with all the explanations you're giving. Allows me to understand the LN without having to read through content I've already watched. Though this keeps tempting me to start on the LN, maybe after the season finishes!
I'm super glad I listened to this honestly when I watched the latest episode it felt like all she did was sleep with him and it made everything better but I know that the series probably intended for me to watch out for more and listen for more so I'm glad I found you here
Personally I prefer the change that Roxy decided for herself & not Elinalise. The original idea is that Elinalise knew it would be the only way to cheer up Rudy. But to me it makes much more sense that Roxy would know that instead, which I thought they did a good job highlighting with the memory flashblack. I know a lot of people don't like when the anime changes from the manga, but imo, this was a good change and I like how they try to strive for slight improvements.
I’m an Anime only fan, and I do like skipped content videos A LOT, keep it up man 🔥 Side note on the episode, I do like the change they made with Roxy is taking over in that situation, I know it’s a little bit off her character but “Love makes Miracles 😂”. Also I guess that makes Rudy less guilty and more likely would be reasonable for Roxy to accept that he has to have Sielfie’s confirmation about the marriage thing.
the fast pacing through this season i was hoping ment this one part would be given the time it needed to really be great and get more people interested in the series
I am glad I am as old as I am, & have read SyFy Novels (1000 Plus pages) that have multiple Books, Some in the range of 10 Plus Books from start to finish, with NO PICTURES! How much content would be cut from them? So I understand that it has to be done, & with todays Moral Taboo's? OMG! So the fact that Mushoku Tensei is even being adapted, & Has made it past the first season, is a a God send to me!
31:30, wait, Roxy knows that Rudeus reincarnated? Yes, Roxy understood that Rudeus was talking about himself, but I didn't get the impression she believed the story was real;
Yeah, I didn't get that impression either. To me Rudeus was saying some definitely compromising things, but not clearly enough to indicate anything, and Roxy never gave any response that indicated she knew or suspected. To me, the conversation was more of a 'near miss' where Rudeus got close to giving it up, but his words were just vague enough to get by with being otherwise interpreted. Edit: Actually should clarify I'm thinking of the anime version. The LN version seems much clearer. The anime seems to be dodging it, not sure why. Maybe it was deemed unnecessary, but left the hint in there.
Rudy never revealed this until some point in his life, due to fear of rejections. But his wife intuitively aware that Rudy is too special to belong to their world.
Yeah it's implied. Roxy isn't stupid, same with Sylphie and the wedding with Nanahoshi. She followed the conversation and hit him with "even Paul would want you to do the same"
Let me just start by saying your content can never be long enough, i would love if you keep going, bedsides that i love earing the skip content is has such a different "way" from the anime. Love it love it ❤❤❤
As an anime only, and as someone that really hasn't been through anything similar to what Rudeus is experiencing, I feel like they did a good job of showing us what he was feeling. Even if we didn't get to listen to the internal dialog and the details of what he was thinking, the situation itself, the flashbacks and seeing Rudeus depressed are enough to make you imagine what it would feel like to be in his place, to feel bad yourself about the situation. I get that you're disappointed in the anime for not portraying his perspective but I think for the anime only viewer it was excellent; I loved it and if I didn't have the LN to compare, I would be completely satisfied with what I saw in the anime. I didn't feel like details about Roxy pushing Rudeus and getting on top of him vs what happened in the LN made her look too assertive since she still looked quite timid about doing it, it didn't feel different to how she was acting in previous episodes. Maybe the way she is written in the novel makes her seem more shy than what I can interpret by just seeing her blushing in the anime but to me it didn't look out of character. Also she's been my favorite since the start of the series so I loved this scene and the rest of her scenes in this episode. The thing that I'm curious about is if Roxy really believed Rudy's story about being reborn and if it will be brought up in the future. Are they going to ignore this scene? They haven't been using flashbacks to patch previous skipped content, so if Roxy ever wants to discuss this with anyone the anime is going to have to explain why she knows this somehow. The rest of the changes I don't mind; I understand that they have to be made for time reasons. Of course I still like to listen to all the details about the world, the different perspectives and the little interactions between the characters, and that's why I watch your videos, but I've been really enjoying the anime as it is.
its nice to know the skipped content. I do feel they mostly did fine adapting this but I do feel that scene in the bar before roxy approaches him was important context though. Im an anime viewer myself but im starting to think maybe I need to read the LN
The missed content always helps really love these videos and it does explain why Roxy did what she did more because it did feel out of character without the explanation.
anime only here, honestly i look forward to your vids every Sunday after i watch the newest episode, but thanks for the info and context and details the anime skipped or whatever. already loved the series when it fist came out and your vids are just the cherries on top to helping enjoy and appreciate the story even more, so thanks again, keep up the awesome work
While i didn't get *everything* you covered, i thought the way thr anime handled it was fine. Rudeus looked really weak, so weak thst it was entirely plausible that Little Roxy could absolutely pull him back into bed; so weak that him taking charge really would have felt out if place. Even as they traveled, seeing him fall, and Roxy helping him back up, i could see that Rudeus really needed her help. It wasn't a flippant want, ir desire, he genuinely needed Roxy. When Roxy spoke to Elinelise, i absolutely got the impression that this had been somewhat coordinated, even if them sleeping together wasn't planned. I could go on, but I'll sum up here. All of the details you went into are absolutely great. I love hearing more about the world, but i don't think there is anything wrong with the way the anime handled things. I actually preferred the idea of Roxy taking the lead, not because she was dominating him, but because she was supporting him in a way only she could. Everything made perfect sense, and even flowed into her saying "I only took advantage of you". The anime really did a good job, at least with me, depicting Rudeus' struggles, even if the LN gave more details i love.
Been through the novel a long time ago, from watching I can tell there's a lot they skipped, but I never quite remember just how much. That's why I love your channel, feels in every gap for me. Thanks a lot.
Love the videos as always. Keep up the good work you do a great job at pulling us into the episode with you. And I kinda agree I was a little against rudes cheating at first.
Thanks for this. I think in the anime, they are trying to keep Rudy in a better light than the light novels by having Roxy as the assertive one. With her not having any experience, and her bashful actions, I think I would have liked it better they way it was in the light novel. I think the characters would have been more 'true' to themselves. The change wasn't horrible, because she did love him and I can see her taking away the decision from him to lessen any guilt and it might not have caused her as much pain since it was her first time. I also felt like the trip back was rushed, and after watching your video, I think it would have been nice to take it a bit slower and show things on the way back. It will be interesting if the bit about Roxy's missing 'visitor' is going to result in a similar situation that Paul was in. I think we need 20 ep seasons. :)
When you think about it: Elinalise and Roxy really played on Rudeus' emotions and depression with the loss of Paul. Elinalise forced Roxy onto him while Roxy, knowing he had a wife and child on the way, practically took advantage of him. Yet, Paul's a "scumbag" for cheating on Zenith after being seduced by Lillia. And, not only that, they used the "she's pregnant" route to guilt Rudeus into taking full responsibility when Roxy herself knew she wasn't pregnant and probably Elinalise, too. Sure, we can say "yeah but, Rudeus was depressed etc", but fact of the matter is, he'd have No Choice but to buck up and get his now found mother, Zenith back home safely and relay the news to his family back home with or without sleeping with Roxy. That's personally why Roxy is my Least favourite of the 3.
Emotions and reasoning were perfectly displayed here. Anime always changes things for crunch of time, as well they can put the same important information in later in other ways. This is very normal by how anime normally works in comparison to WN/LN/Manga. We all know if you want the FULL details you read the story, not watch it. Idk why there's always people who are like *surprised pikachu face* omfg everything wasn't included.
In regards to the question posed at the end i feel that watching the anime so far without reading any of the ln only watching your videos after i caught almost everything mentioned i feel the only thing that wasnt cinveyed was the depth of just how bad he was clearly not eating sure but dying was not something i saw
Honestly I kinda liked the way anime handle the situation. It feels more genuine to me like this, with Elinalise's role being diminished. EDIT: BTW he slightly hinted on the fact that he is reincarnated when they spoke. It just was not so direct.
Anime only. The moment rudeus and roxy leave the bedroom and elinalise comes out of her room, roxy mentions she is going to talk to elinalise, it did feel implied like they both had a conversation either the day before or beyond with some idea or plan of having someone sleep with rudeus to comfort him out of his depression before its too late. I was guessing roxy was the one that took the initiative before elinalise could finalize the plan of who he should sleep with. Since you mention the important bar scene with geese and elinalise planning out something for rudeus, it makes much more sense as to why roxy did what she did. She loves rudy and now knows his relationship status, she wanted to help him even if its possible she gets painted as the bad girl in the eyes of all including rudy. Even if it was given that the anime made roxy took a huge initiative and was much more forward with her actions than rudy was. Putting my bias aside with roxy being my favorite girl in the series. Honestly i'm fine with rudy taking up more wives. As elinalise has said, that the milis faith of having only one wife is a old fashion and outdated way of life in this world seen by a minority. By those words, it seems like the harem is the more common trope that people of this world accept. Rudy nor sylphy are not part of the milis faith, but I am glad that rudy is going to talk with slyphy and try and bring roxy into the family despite some possible backlash that might come out. *Cough* Norn *Cough*
Love the content, when the season ends, are you considering doing summaries or LN reading? I have hard time sitting down and reading books. I usually hear your videos while cleaning or cycling.
I think the worst mistake the anime did was not properly explain Rudeus' state. Too many people don't get the reason for the gaunt face and think he was just sad. While the truth is he had spent almost two weeks sleep deprived from nightmares, he puked everything he tried to eat and was slowly starving to death. There was no returning without Rudeus power either. If Roxy didn't act he would have died. All the studio had to do was show him puking his food and maybe show a speeded up day night cycle to explain many days has passed. That way people would have understood better. Really the feel of the event in the book is similar to that of a group of stranded people that end up eating their dead to survive. It's reproachable, but understandable. I at least couldn't blame them for what they did.
I have not read the LN, so I can understand that any deviation from the original story is Dissapointing, however I think the way they did the anime adaptation makes Roxy share more of the burden of him cheating and thus reduce the "shock factor" by several levels. Not that it matters, but just my perspective. Personally I enjoyed seeing Roxy be more forward, it seemed to fit better with how obvious she was acting in the Dungeon, for me it was a solid 8/10.
This story gets better and better the longer it gets. Isekai slice of life, drama, adventure, fantasy, family... who knew all this can be fit inside a wonderful writing.
Yes Anthony, yes! Finally someone had the same thought about Roxy w Rudeus feelings. I as well felt that Roxy is not a love interest, but a person of admiration, respect and a Goddess. Even though I've read through whole WebN and side stories like a continuation of a MT, I've always felt strange about Roxy and Rudeus.
I love to see Elinalise looking out for Roxy, I wouldn't have thought they were that close of friends. Also think it was important that she talked to Rudy because he vowed to be loyal to Sylphie because of his values in the old world. The LN really seems to remind us that he doesn't have a clean slate, he has 30 years of life experience and regrets that influence his outlook and behavior. I wished we could hear more of Rudy's rationalizaton, but im just glad too see best girl taking dubs.
Called it. This anime adaption already skipped/modified enough stuff so it would have been a great surprise if they left THIS moment intact. I personally prefer how the LN handled it, but this was fine too.
I like the way they did it. It give Roxy some agency in the scene. There is a lot of context that got stripped, and without that Rudy comes off as scummy. This works.
Overall, I like the anime interpretation of this part however I wish they would have included Rudy's "fake story". Although it seemed like Roxy noticed he basically said something along the lines of, "this time around" to her in the anime.
They did i good job with this episode. Only thing that i missed is Rudys monologues aobut the "fictional character (himself)" who lived in another world and regrets that he never loved his parents.
Yeah, this episode really shows where the inner-dialogue of the light-novel format just can't be properly adapted into an anime. The grief expressed in the LN was particularly beautifully written and evocative! But the anime format can be superior at times too, so it doesn't bother me too much. Oh, and I don't think Rudy's words gave Roxy ANY clue about his reincarnation. I also didn't mind them changing the fact that she went into his room already knowing that he was married--it made the sacrifice of her own happiness that much more devastatingly sweet! And it's obvious the creators are trying to streamline the story as much as possible, so I get why they've been glossing over certain parts of the narrative and switching the order around here and there. I haven't been significantly disappointed with their approach in the anime so far myself.
I think knowing the context of the skipped content it makes it clearer to see what the anime was going for. I really don't think the anime was able to condense it all into the episode for anime only though. The only reason I knew what was happening was due to having the context you provide without that i think everything was too rushed and it comes off as a harem building episode for rudy. Realistically they probably needed 2 or 3 episodes to fit that info instead of just this 1 episode.
Personally I got the feeling that Roxy was always a more straightforward person. She just doesn’t always have the confidence to act on that part of her. Her intro scene in vol one showcases this perfectly I think.
Another change I noticed is they still have the cart with them after they arrive in the northern continent along with the armadillo creature pulling it when the novel said it wouldn't fit inside the ruins where the teleporter was so they had to leave it behind. Unless they made another cart then that's another change from the light novel.
As an anime only I did get alot of the subtext without the missing context. Only thing I wish they would have included or delved deeper into was the reincarnation reveal you mentioned
Anime only here. I think cutting down on the inner monologue has been consistent throughout this season. I also think that taking out the bar chat beforehand keeps the audience's knowledge on par with Rudeus's perspective - a choice they've made consistently on this show. While they did make Roxy more aggressive than what you described, I think her premeditated motivations are clear by the end of the episode and her actions line up with what we hear from her when she meets Sylphie.
35:11 Lilia is a trooper, but she is getting at the end of her rope. Rudeus realizes he needs to get them home and her more help from Aisha and Norn and Sylphie.
I dont think the change is a big deal, my guess is they wanted to make it abundantly clear that Roxy consented to it happening, there are still going to be haters of course, but I think they at least have that angle covered.
Before seeing the episode as LN reader I was hopping that they wuld adapt this part as closy as possible including the bar convesation at least and possibly even Rudy iner monolouge. Possibly makeing this episode close on Rudeus and Roxy morning after and the next ep the jurney back and what comes after.
I got that he felt he missed out on his parents and felt the resentment from that to his current life and how he did have that kind of love for Paul after his sacrifice. The Roxy stuff that was left out should have been left in since it makes more sense to be Lise idea than Roxy. Also being pregnant makes it more apparent to why Rudy would want to marry her on the spot, although he does love Roxy without that tidbit
Man I feel Rudy a little bit bc my grandad's brother passed away a few years back. We both knew each other, but we're never really that close. Before we had to leave the next day, he told me and my older brother if we wanted to stay the night ahd we both declined. Ik he was upset but I was honestly not thet close with him and felt kinda uncomfortable being around him and other strangers I've never really interacted with. Next thing you know he passed away which really broke me since I still regret not taking that offer to spend sone time with him. To this day that sh** still hits me and I made a clear promise to myself to not make that same mistake cuz you never know when the person you could get to know a lot more could pass away. Might me tomorrow, or a week, or a good year from now.
I feel like I picked up on enough to understand what was going on in rudy's head but having the extra nuance with all the skipped content made everything better
I do feel like this change makes Roxy look stronger as a woman in a sense. Like she was strong in her conviction to do what she needed to do to save rudeus’ life. Instead of just portraying rudeus as this psycho that takes out his frustration and sorrow on a woman and then is gaslit into marrying her 😅
I dont to start arguments with you you did make a good point but what of roxy did lake seem like at strong women because all see is trash and i love roxy i know rudy could have litteraly die but that make me even more desapointed in him that bro was not like i cant let my self die here i have my wife and kid and sistes to take care and what crazy to le yes he was letting himself die and they all see tgat but sex was really the answer? Like ellinalise could not have remind him of his wife wating for him and if bro was still letting himself die take the nourriture and force him to it not like he cant résiste people forcing lunch in is mount then you make him sit with zénith elinalise know where is the circle of teleportation like he was really not that hard that why i dont understand in what part roxy really needed to lake rudy cheat is wife like i legit dont care bro want to take the rentaro life style but atlest dont bretray you wife like that
@@blazenitrozeus5721 lol u gta realize it’s a fictional world in which it’s common practice to lift up a depressed guy with sex. So here's my two cents. As Mushoku viewers, we knew Rudeus was going to attaint the "Trinity" of women. It was set in stone. What we non readers didn't know is how it would come about. And watching this episode it felt so rushed with Roxie. And to me and my husband it felt like the animator done her dirty by not giving that relationship the time that both Eris and Sylphie had. And we understand, they have a childhood they share, but so did Sylphie and Rudeus and we still had a whole season of them developing their relationship before jumping into bed. It was beautiful. We got to see why Rudeus wanted her. But with Roxie, he was mourning, he was crying, he was down as down goes, and next thing we know, they screw. And to make matters worse, we find out Roxie knew Rudeus was not only married but expecting a kid. She had no regards for Sylphie's feelings or the baby at all in the anime and it's hard to reconcile that. And no one during the episode reminded Rudeus about the family he created. Don't even get me started on Elinalise and her speech. Yes, Rudeu's mom came to be at peace with what Paul did. But Norm never did! Norm hates her half sister because she is a constant reminder of how her dad hurt her mom. Easy for a former "slut" to lecture on adult love while ignoring the children who get hurt in the cross fire. Let's not forget she doesn't have the best track record when it comes to children.
Anime only; I am really concerned for Norn. She gets to find out that her father died, her mother is mentally gone, Aisha's mother returned safe(if probably very hurt), her brother is missing an arm, and now he's brought some new woman in. And she's the one who told her brother to go.
At least Norn will have Aisha's mother for support if she ever needs some of that motherly love, but she just may see her as nothing more than a maid.
@Darklordiban7 that is a real good point. She did tell him to go. Damn I love this show.
Spoiler: She's gonna be pissed.
(Like of course she would be at this time in her character, what did you expect?)
So true, this is what makes mushoku so special

@@ericbunker6242 Totally Agree
@@dbuy3you guys are assuming they're not gonna do that next episode
@@jebes909090 He already proposed so I doubt it.
I honestly preferred the way the bedroom scene with Roxy went, short and sweet but didn't skip over the conflict. I would have preferred the bar scene before to be included and the morning after scene to be relatively similar but the scene itself shows more than you'd expect emotionally, if you read between the lines (make your own headcannon)
Honestly I think in an effort to sanitise the story they had to make it so Roxy took advantage of that situation, which she 100% did in this version.
Finally some speaks English, Hi I’m Tony Stark.
You forgot two crucial thing. Rudy got rice grain and a very cute armadillo from beggarit 😂
I personally like that they didn’t do the pregnancy scare because I don’t really that type of manipulation.
Yeah that was a huge manipulation from grandma's side. I thought they would kept it to make Rudy not look that scummy, but I guess he's scummy regardless, this way they made the relationship between Rudy x Roxy more genuine.
I think they didn't want people talking about it for the whole week just to say it was a lie next episode
That's the thing I'm happy they cut. Didn't like it in the novels at all, it seemed too cheap to force Rudy into a shotgun wedding instead of having him decide to marry her out of his own volition
She probably will tell it to Rudy next episode when she is ready or discover it.
Yeah i never like that part, but i still hate they not handle whole monologue better and resolution with rudy told roxy his past
Same!
From what I’ve heard of the LN I actually appreciate that they’ve tried to tone down/ change how some parts are changed as someone who is anime only
5:35 After last weeks episode I read/watched Pauls last seconds (from that CD) and his thought before passing on.
Then do what you gotta!)
you are the best mushoku tensei skipped content channel out there, your videos are amazing and I thank you for them
It blows my mind that this anime I put on for background noise, I ended up binging and now and so emotionally invested in that I legitimately got upset when Paul died and gasped when Zenith was Casca'd
Also, I really appreciate you doing this. I don't have a lot of time to read manga myself and usually anime is just something in the background for me, but doing this I was able to listen along and get all this missed content. Thank you so much
Aweeee, I just realized that Roxy hasn't seen her parents in a long time and she'll be able to show up with the boy they met a few years earlier and a baaaaby
Yeah but you can also make the argument that they had to make her act out of character for it to happen,Roxy has always been the purest of souls and here out of nowhere she is making moves on him
@@onesmileybaldy8303 yep, in the LN she was one of the most, if not the most pure character, now she just r*ped rudy when he was depressed with his father death, thats so fked up
It was a great, chill follow-up from last episode.
33:11 I'm sorry man, the notion of Elinalise setting things up is fanfiction at this point
- Geese was the one who gave the idea
- Elinalise didn't even explain what it was about when Roxy asked her, it had to be Geese
- We get some of Elinalise thoughts, none of them was about Roxy making a move on Rudeus
- Elinalise suggested Geese to take Rudeus into a brothel
- Elinalise concluded that Rudeus was going to be all rigth
- Elinalise was surprised when she saw that Roxy did it
- There's not a single moment where anyone suggested or remotely implied that Roxy do it
The only moment I could think of is when Elinalise says (he needs someone he trust to lean to) and Geese suggest to send Lilia and Elinalise gets mad at him. But there's never a follow up like "There's someone better for that" or taking glances at Roxy. Absolutely nothing.
This is clearly a fan moment of seeing how you think the character would act instead of seeing what the character actually does.
Actually I believe it was an old version of the LN that had Elinalise asking Roxy rather than a stranger. But the official LN doesn't have it.
Geese started it and Roxy came to conclusion that she would have to do it since Elinalise had some good reasons to not "help" Rudy

😁 Love the content and appreciate what you do
Does Rudeus ever have the inner monologue of "oh that's what he meant by 2 swords"? Would be a shame if it's never mentioned again
I mean even in the novel overall is pretty clear that is roxy own choice
Bro please make this type of video after every mushoku tensei episode ❤🙏🙏
I’m an Anime only fan, and I do like skipped content videos A LOT, keep it up man 🔥
Side note on the episode, I do like the change they made with Roxy is taking over in that situation, I know it’s a little bit off her character but “Love makes Miracles 😂”. Also I guess that makes Rudy less guilty and more likely would be reasonable for Roxy to accept that he has to have Sielfie’s confirmation about the marriage thing.
the fast pacing through this season i was hoping ment this one part would be given the time it needed to really be great and get more people interested in the series
Love these break downs. I pick up in something from the anime, but the extra info made things clearer too
Keep making this. Always interesting to watch after an episode

As an anime-only watcher, these skipped content videos have been a big benefit in expanding my enjoyment with the story
31:30, wait, Roxy knows that Rudeus reincarnated?
Yes, Roxy understood that Rudeus was talking about himself, but I didn't get the impression she believed the story was real;
She followed the conversation and hit him with "even Paul would want you to do the same"
@@Derekloffin they prob just skipped much of it since it doesn't really come up again in the LN very much.
Keep doing your skip content once I finish the episode, I immediately refresh my TH-cam to check on you.
The missed content always helps really love these videos and it does explain why Roxy did what she did more because it did feel out of character without the explanation.
anime only here, honestly i look forward to your vids every Sunday after i watch the newest episode, but thanks for the info and context and details the anime skipped or whatever. already loved the series when it fist came out and your vids are just the cherries on top to helping enjoy and appreciate the story even more, so thanks again, keep up the awesome work
Man i love your covering of MT skipped content , its like watching a movie every sunday .
I just want to thank you for your videos, I love it
I was waiting to see you video about this episode.
I have all sorts of emotions about it.
The anime really did a good job, at least with me, depicting Rudeus' struggles, even if the LN gave more details i love.
amazimg content sharing and analyses of the entire universe of mt. thank you dearly from an anime only.
Can I just say I find it extremely hilarious when you put a picture of Rudeus in his old life up next to your own face, and you look exactly alike.
When you think about it:
Elinalise and Roxy really played on Rudeus' emotions and depression with the loss of Paul.
That's personally why Roxy is my Least favourite of the 3.
thanks for this video dude! really appreciate the detail :D
Emotions and reasoning were perfectly displayed here. Anime always changes things for crunch of time, as well they can put the same important information in later in other ways. This is very normal by how anime normally works in comparison to WN/LN/Manga. We all know if you want the FULL details you read the story, not watch it. Idk why there's always people who are like *surprised pikachu face* omfg everything wasn't included.
that ppl is just anoying ,they act like know everything that better to do😅
and if they did include everything there would be a ton of complaints about too much dialogue anyways
beautifull video and you read it so well too! Thank you!
32:00 well if they never talk about Rudy’s past again after this point then it makes sense they cut it out
Thanks again. Love these takes. Really gets me into the show.
The Goddess has revealed her secret depression cure spell!
ROXY!👊 ROXY!👊 ROXY!👊
In regards to the question posed at the end i feel that watching the anime so far without reading any of the ln only watching your videos after i caught almost everything mentioned i feel the only thing that wasnt cinveyed was the depth of just how bad he was clearly not eating sure but dying was not something i saw
This is great work man
Love your vids thank you for the skipped content!
This isn't unheard of. It's well documented that greving people often seek comfort in the form of sex. Especialy among parents who have lost a child.
bless you I love hearing this
the anime did not do justice to such a beautiful story
Your videos are fantastic. Great content and detail. Thanks
Love the content, when the season ends, are you considering doing summaries or LN reading?
I have hard time sitting down and reading books. I usually hear your videos while cleaning or cycling.
Great episode as a LN loved with over $5k of Mushoku merchandise lol
Damn.... Can't wait for your Volume 20-21 cover in Mushoku Mondays. Bet that you'll be crying all over again lol
12:49 kinda nice seeing a serious side of elinalise
I just wanted to see skipped bit, and now I look at the timeline of 1h long video.. I hope it's worth :D
Dude, thank you for the video!
It explains a whole lot 😅 thank you
Anime only here.
Thank you for this video
I feel like I picked up on enough to understand what was going on in rudy's head but having the extra nuance with all the skipped content made everything better
as always, thank you for this!
Like ellinalise could not have remind him of his wife wating for him and if bro was still letting himself die take the nourriture and force him to it not like he cant résiste people forcing lunch in is mount then you make him sit with zénith elinalise know where is the circle of teleportation like he was really not that hard that why i dont understand in what part roxy really needed to lake rudy cheat is wife like i legit dont care bro want to take the rentaro life style but atlest dont bretray you wife like that
I feel like you're 13.
@@blazenitrozeus5721 lol u gta realize it’s a fictional world in which it’s common practice to lift up a depressed guy with sex. I know the anime ddnt show this but they really truly believed that was the way to get Rudy back on his feet to the point of them suggesting Elianise do it. They may show this in a flashback tbh
@@name_adi damn so if i dont agree with your point that me 13 😐so much talk about this ln being mâture but you dont see mâture enouf to talk with me i just put my point on why i dint really like it that all💀
@@BossSpencer96 yeah i understand but that dont change the fact they could force him to eat and move then whe they get home sylphie would take care of sylphie and what i dont understand is why sex would make rudy feel better after lost is father and mentaly lost is mother i really dont get what part of that is suppose to male you better and that one thing i dint like in the ep is that he was sad for is father and mother the 1st 6min of the ep then all this go away and now bro is troubled by roxy and sylphie situation
"gees's judgement was correct in the end" i wonder where he learned that from
He somehow always knows what to do huh
Let's not forget she doesn't have the best track record when it comes to children.
as an anime only, loved the video so much that i want to read (listen) the whole novel. one question have u tried to make an audio book or something?
