Hey everyone! If you want some limited run Alm House goods Pre-Sale is live now thru Halloween. Thanks!! www.almfab.com/store
Congrats on finishing the cabinets and the new baby! 🎉
I've never bought a piece of 'Maker Merch' in my life, but that design is *chefs kiss*. I nabbed a hat. Kitchen looks top shelf, mate. Good work.
Congrats!!!! A whole new baby build series! Baby proofing! Parent rockers (with foot rest!). Changing table (with clever storage). Baby fencing! So many possibilities!
You missed an opportunity to do your first dad joke with "a real dadline" instead of "a real deadline". Sorry...
😂 I'm still learning
Phenomenal delivery! I'm gonna need to steal this!😂
After he said it, I came to the comments to see if I was the only one noticing he missed such an opportunity xD
@@MichaelAlm I forgot to say Congratulations to Ashley and you 😊
Me too@@cesarneves
Congratulations on having a baby 🙂
Congratulations! Can’t wait to see the custom builds for the nursery
Aren’t deadlines like visitors and a baby great motivators? 😁😁😁
Congrats on the baby!! 🎉🎉🎉
It’s got to be a relief to be wrapping this up with the baby on the way! The cabinets are beautiful. Michael- pick up a few feather boards to fit onto your router table. Downward and inward pressure really reduce the chatter when using those cove profile bits and help preventing the cut from wandering with the density of the wood grain especially on white oak.
Beautiful kitchen! Give us a hint on what you’re thinking for the countertops
Thanks! They should be installed by the next video. They’re quartz that looks like marble
THATS GREAT! Congrats . Nothing better that having a child with the person you love. That's a bad ass kitchen.
Perfection takes time, and you made this perfect! Congratulation soon to be dad!
I know this is a slightly random question but @MichaelAlm could you tell me what type of Levi's your black jeans in this video are? 511? Looking to get a pair myself, yours look really nice. Thanks & love your channel!
Can't wait for the next kitchen update: "Bespoke Solid Oak Baby-proofing"
Congrats for the baby, Michael! All the best for you and your family! 😃
That was a truly amazing work, from the beginning to the end! Really well done!!! And I'm definitely looking forward to what comes next!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I thought this was going to be a rental! Congrats!
Love how the cabinets are all the way to the ceiling,no DUST buildup, nice I have always wandered why carpenters short change home owners. I think it looks so cheap and not thought through,or no money,or not caring what they produce. NICE-BEAUTIFUL WORK,you should be PROUD.
Congratulations! You and Ashley seem like very nice people with a lot of patience and a great sense of humor. Lucky baby!!!👶
LOVE these cabinets!! Are you making a crib for the baby? Congrats to you and Ashley.
Congrats to you and Ashley! Oh, and the kitchen looks great..... : )
Doesn't matter what happens in the video, I'm commenting and liking this video immediately after hearing about the kid. Congrats!!!!!
Helpful and informative eh? Well then, let me just say "Your skills are mediocre and I don't like your face". How's THAT for helpful and informative? And to top it off, IT WAS A LIE! You're very talented AND a handsome guy! SO TAKE THAT, MICHAEL ALM!
I always love it when the "Build DONE" music starts. Congrats both on the beautiful kitchen and the coming addition to the family.
Congratulations to you and Ashley and all love and luck for the baby. I have really loved this whole kitchen series. Don’t mind what comes next.
Any plans to offer the ALM HOUSE shirt in any other colors besides black? Like a light blue that the flooring sample inspiration came from?
Congratulations on the arrival of the new member to the family, may it fill you with love and happiness¡¡¡¡¡ you deserve it, you are young people full of future.
Early or late December birth? A Sagittarius would be cool. A third of December would be perfect!!! Work a baby motif into that graphic and you are done!
The Rockler on Stoneway was the first woodworking store I visited too. It was called “The Woodworker Store” then. Bought my first set of chisels and forstner bits. Still use them today 30+ years later.
Quite an undertaking overall, but you did a great job and everything looks fantastic. Congratulations on the family situation!
Bill
Firstly, congratulations 🎉 great news about the new baby.
Secondly, excellent work- LOVE your channel.
Lastly, nice comment about not having a jointer yet - I’m sure Grizzly, Hammer or Jet will oblige 😂 fingers crossed.
Ps. The sticker I ordered looks amazing on my iPad cover - pride of place…😊
The cabinets turned out so beautifully! Congrats to you and Ashley on the bun in the oven. I wish you both so much joy during this special time in your lives. ❤💛❤💛
Am I misremembering or wasn't this house supposed to be an Airbnb? It might have been a change of plans or simply a cover-up for the pregnancy (or the plan of it), I guess. By the way, congratulations on the soon to be newborn!
The cabinets are absolutely beautiful. The under-cabinet lighting isn’t great, at least on camera. The hotspots on the walls are a “glaring” problem (had to throw in a dad joke after the news you dropped). Not trying to be mean, just a point you can improve on in a future build.
Congrats my dude. I'm expecting my first in February just after you. Also my shop cabinets I still need to add drawers and doors 3 months after building the carcasses.
“Aww, what a wholesome video! Look at the snug fits! Smooth and satisfying! His wife is pregnant! Goodness, what a nice and warming vi…”
*shelf labeled “taxidermy eyes” in the middle of a shot*
“… what … I’m out…”
Congratulations! I pray that your family is blessed and content with their wonderful home!
Hey, your local Rockler is also my local Rockler... So I have some local questions. Where do you get your hardwood (that isn't rockler). As far as I can tell, the best places in Seattle (Crosscut Hardwoods and Hardwoods Seattle) are only open during bank hours, which doesn't work for a weekend hobbyist. I needed a lot of oak strips for some shelving that I'm making and have cleared out HD's supply of usable wood twice (about 1/3-1/2 of the wood is straight enough, as I don't have the equipment to mill it)... looking for better options. And, speaking of equipment to mill it... Do you have any recommendations on local places that have bigger equipment to rent? We've got lots of maker spaces and tool libraries in the area, but with limited descriptions on their web pages, it's hard to know where to start.
I have 2 girls from december, busy month…😊 its the best thing in your life❤ congrats!!!!
Ok here is my question did you buy extra step stools that you custom built that cabinet for? I know a lot of people were suggesting you do that. And of course congratulations on the upcoming addition to the family.
Congrats! Mine just turned 10 and she's the best thing in my life. You'll be great parents!
My closest Rockler store is a 3 hour round trip drive unfortunately. Yes, I can order on line but it’s not the same as seeing and touching. In addition I can’t avail my self of their classes. You’re fortunate to have a store near by. I’m up by Santa Rosa, CA. I guess that’s one the prices of living in a less congested area. Mazel Tov on the new family member coming in December! We’re enjoying our grandchildren. They bring joy everyday. Your new home is beautiful. You’ve done a masterful job.
Ok, a long project, but lots of good decisions and work the entire time. Turned out awesome! Congrats on the baby-to-be!
Using the old flooring pattern is perfect and it makes me happy to know you’re framing that piece. Super cool man. Thanks for inspiring and congrats!
Congrats on the kitchen - looks fantastic and I really enjoyed the build series !
And congrats on the new family member! I’m a December baby myself and I love having my birthday in the holiday season 🎄 🦃
Michael, I have a question (maybe a noob one) but first of all congrats for the kitchen as it is becoming a work of art, and also, congrats in being a dad, it has its days but it's the most beautiful thing. Now, to the question, how do you line up the european hinge and/or mark where it should be in the cabinet? Do you hold in place and mark the holes to drill? It seems cumbersome. Again, sorry if it's a newbie question.
Congrats on the kitchen, the house, and the baby...a true adult! Good luck with everything!
Such a great job man. I'm gearing up to tackle my own kitchen this fall and its been great timing to see you problem solve your way through this process. It's really helped. I particularly liked (and agree with) your advice in another video to never take just your first iteration as it will often be a purely functional solution. As an artist myself, that really resonated for me (said as I finish up the 1000th SketchUp drawing of my kitchen...) Congrats!
With a very slight adjustment that deco design could be an “AF” would be a cool update to the company logo.
My kitchen is in progress going on 5 years... Trade ya for your 1 year kitchen! LOL
Congrats on the imminent tiny human! May I recommend a full scuba drysuit, or perhaps a titanium war bubble? Oh, I know! I bet Rockler has Baby Clamps! Secure the wild little monster in place while performing routine maintenance. ;)
So glad I got to follow this whole project. I am building my forever home later this year, and I learned soooo much, thank you. ❤ Also, thanks for the tip about the comments, I'm going there next. Congratulations on your baby!! Let your wife get naps before and after, it will save your marriage. ❤
since I got there with watching the video, I was using the hinge holes will larger screws to attach cabinets to each other or the additional covering panels, that's how I was working in Romania. And I live in Seattle, never visited the Rockler shop, one day for that as well and congrats for the baby, we have a 7 months old baby boy, life changing experience, but it's great.
Congratulations on both a beautiful kitchen and the baby! I am sure you and your wife will be awesome parents!!!
Oh my gosh I just tore up my travertine floor and found something strange beneath. It looked like a waterproof underlayment or membrane that was on a burlap woven backer. I think it's exactly what you're holding- the original floor in the kitchen!
...Hopefully I'll get the all clear on the asbestos lab results so I can demo that stuff out next.
Oh my! I’m hoping building out the rest of the house will include the baby’s room - I don’t know why but I am always fascinated by how these rooms are designed
Congratulations. I'd not seen instagram but had an inkling that was on the cards for you. Enjoy watching your restoration project
Love it dude. And I LOVE the design for the logo too. As I said, you’re an artist above all :).
Really happy for you ! for the renovations, the kitchen and the kid :D
Mate, this is just excellent!! What a fantastic kitchen!!! Congrats on the clean work and install..
Even moreso, congrats to you and Ashley (?) on your upcoming baby :)
You should make an all wood version of that floor design using different species of wood and add it somewhere in the house, maybe even inlayed in the cabinets somewhere. It would make a cool little project video and look great.
Hi, Michael, I mentioned on an earlier video that we both started kitchens at the same time, well, you won the race to the end... and it looks great. Congrats to you and Ashley.
Used to go to the old Stone Way Rockler all the time with my dad. Good memories. Edit: love the kitchen, very nice work!
Congrats Michael, as a fellow dad I can confidently say that being a good dad will be the most rewarding and most important thing you do in your entire life.
the care and thought you put into all your builds is inspiring! kitchen is looking great! congratulations to you two on your growing family!
Hello from a fellow Washingtonian. Congratulations to you and your wife on your little one. I love how the kitchen has turned out, and all of the other features that you have shown us so far.
Congratulations!!! So excited for you and Ashley!
Congratulations, Michael! Best wishes to you and your wife.
Congratulations! Been watching all your videos in prep for our kitchen reno as well ❤
What lumberyard do you buy from? I’m from Seattle area as well. Would love to know your preferred lumberyard
You've said you like comments, so... :)
The European style hinges, the internal part has three holes. The two external which are mostly used are not exactly circle (depends on the models) but have room for adjustment. However, there's a third hole in the middle which idea is to be used once the adjustments are done. It also makes them more durable. So, you could use the third hole to attach the side panels without install/uninstall the hinges so many times.
Greetings from Bulgaria.
that is a fantastic kitchen, all the units need now is a coat of paint now to pep them up a bit. (just kidding, would be horrific to see any paint on them) 🤣
Congratulations on the addition to your family. Beautiful kitchen.
Totally need to see a custom paper towel holder to fit within this beautiful kitchen...
Congratulations! The design looks great and love the stickers
you also could have just used longer screws for the hinges and gone through both pieces of wood.
Congratulations on the baby and finishing up the kitchen!
Congatulations! I hope the birth goes well for mother and baby
0:57 "I have a real dad-line"
You're starting early on the dad jokes?
aw congrats on the baby! great christmas present for you both!
Being a mama and woodworker, I would recommend ALWAYS wearing a mask in the shop. ESPECIALLY when slicing into foam… your baby needs their papa for as long as possible. ♥️♥️♥️
Nice job finishing up the kitchen. And congrats on the baby! Woo hoo!
I’d love to see how you do the winfow/door trim and baseboards. We have a whole house to do and I need tips.
1. Congrats!
2. Wow you are *super* local.
Congrats on the growing family! So exciting
Congratulations mate, enjoy the ride🎉
I didn’t realize white oak was a whole category of trees
wait did you just say you edge banded solid wood? WHY?
Congratulations on your new child!
You are the most attractive in my eyes congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations, Michael!!!
Congrats you two on the incoming baby!
Congrats on the baby in the making.. also taking almost a year to be done :D
Hey, congratulations!
Oh my god congratulations to you guys !!
Congrats on news of your pending baby!
love the handles, simple yet perfect
Hey, Michael. I love the flutes in the cabinets. Just FYI, I work in the Rockler in Fairfax, VA. If you ever come out toward Washington, DC, please let me know and come visit us at Rockler #49.
Thanks! I’d love to!! I appreciate the invite 🙌
Congratulations on the baby.
What's next, you ask? A crib, dresser, changing table, maybe even a glider/rocker. :)
Great answer
Seattle Rockler staff is great! Very helpful, super knowledgeable, and just fun to chat with about all things woodworking.
Couldn't agree more!
Uug, only a mother can love!
Trabalho perfeito! Parabéns.
LOVE that new design T-shirt!
Questions for the next video:
1. What's the long-term plan for the yard, and is there a garage? (Pretty sure you're not moving the shop...and BTW, how far is the shop from the house?)
Thanks!! The yard is staying the same. We might build a back deck next summer. The shop won’t change. It’s about 60ft from the back door to the house.
