Why have you got Marvins windows, he’s going to be annoyed when he finds out.😊
You are missing a very critical point, we need to discuss about it: Zipline people, we need a crazy zipline to a deck with a small hidden hatch with whisky
@21:24 I just remembered why I subscribed to this channel.
I just saw that part, and it made me laugh!
I don't see new plumbing, windows, doors, drywall, wiring or even new mismatched work. I just see dollar signs. Lots of dollar signs ...
As a European it still boggles me to see you replacing decks and electrics and winfows and flashings and sidings and roofs every five years. Or 20. Why not build a good house right away?
First off, this was probably built as a vacation home, not a year-round residence, and I think he said it’s 50 years old not 20. That said, one reason we need to replace roofs, flashing, etc. in North America is because we actually get “weather.” In Central Europe, 3 cm of rain in one day is an emergency. In New England we regularly see that much in an hour, and 10 cm in a day wouldn’t be unusual or remarkable. Temps are also much more extreme. All that takes a toll on building materials.
Please explain how Europeans build houses. We would like to know.
And that explains why your houses look like shit sorry but not sorry Wood rots electrical wires become frayed houses burn down because of that stuff. If you don’t go to the doctor and find out something wrong, you’ll just drop dead one day right same thing with houses. They need to be periodically inspected so a roof doesn’t come crashing down on you or an electrical fire because wire got frayed and burns your house down.
Video posted 5 minutes ago, over 700 view already, good for you Jason!
Video posted 59 minutes ago and 9,189 views, good for you Jason
Looks great! You keeping the wood burning fireplace? Since it’s going to be an air bnb, I wouldn’t be comfortable having random people starting fires in my house. Too many idiots out there lol. I’d turn it into a gas or electric fireplace
WOW!!!!! It looks so good. When I saw the first video tour of the house when you bought it I was really thinking it was a wild looking crazy house that was so horribly laid out. You corrected so much stuff to make it into a normal code compliant house with safe character. Amazing work! I cannot wait to see how it all turns out.
Let that air conditioner breathe. The surround is a bad move.
Its interesting to read some of the negative comments more or less saying he should have bought a house that didn't need as much work...or commenting on how much something costs and or the value. I'm sure that when he bought the place he had a marginal idea of some of the work that they were going to put into it. Of course I'm sure there is also a lot that no one would have known until you start digging into the walls. Ive done the same on multiple renovations, especially any house that's 50 years or older. At the end of the day, be appreciative that its not your wallet but his. Appreciate that he has the means and ability to renovate this house and provided the content for you to watch and maybe get some idea from for your own projects. I know I am. Not all of his projects are exactly how I would do them or how I would spend money, but they have given me ideas to use on my own projects or different ways to look at something. Thanks Jason and Team. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your content.
Ummm... I for one would be totally onboard for a Bourbon Moth Woodworking golf series.
Also..... Bourbon Moth X Bob Does Sports whiskey golf challenge anyone?
You might reach out to ModustrialMaker about you concreate plans. Do a colab or something. It would be cool. A learning experience for both of you.
@ 14:27 I am laughing so hard right now!!!! We All Picked Out / tell the truth, your lovely wife picked out all that stuff " you are so funny that you think your wife still lets you make interior decorating decisions " you had better talk to your "Better Help" therapist because you may be delusional ?? LMAO
17:43 as soon as Jason went to squat, youtube threw a cliff bar ad at me, with a woman who was cliff diving smiling underwater.
Which is funny because not only do clif bars look like... well..
But the cliffdiving lady as well...
Squarespace? Really? I thought MARVIN was this week's sponsor?
The place is looking great! Made some important changes and upgrades.
However, I think you are making a major mistake with just a half- bath upstairs. A shower for smelly, active kids that is in their space will keep up the downstairs bathrooms for those sleeping downstairs. Just a consideration.
Make sure you watch CarlRogers oak staircase building video.
golfing = not business expense
making a video of you golfing = business expense
The more updates on the way the house was originally built, the more I’m convinced it was a “I know a guy” special
I like It, looks so much better! Good Humor Man! Ice Cream! Dammit now I want Ice Cream......
Superb progress! 🎉 Well done, I can't wait for you to start putting your own stamp on it. Looking forward to the Germany episode too! Wood rocks! Peace out. 😊
You’ve jacked up the door knob and slid a new house under it. Hope you didn’t spend more than $1 for the original house.
Not trying to be a butt… But it’s called a water heater not a hot water heater. Why would you need to heat hot water? The water that goes in is cold. It then gets heated up and pushed out so again it’s a water heater not hot water heater.😂😂😂
Whoaaaa you’re half way there!! No, not really. Once drywall goes up that’s just shy of the halfway marker to a renovation in my book. But great to see major progress!
Looks like the cleanest work site I've ever seen lol. Honestly surprised it's comin along this far. Have fun and try not to succ too many lints.
All the old wiring neatly stacked for all the pdx junkies to salvage
As much as construction and contractors are a pain, it is kind of fun to see all of the changes and progress to the projects... as long as you aren't the guy paying for it... or dealing with contractors. It's going to be a gorgeous vacation house. Nice job!
I see this as their weekend house. After Jason is finished with the interior, he nor his wife is going to want folks renting it.
Nice work! Looks really good.
One pet peeve…
Its just a Water Heater ,
not a Hot Water Heater. 😮
if everyone played as much golf as i do, there wouldn't be any golf courses.
i was just thinking about the cabin about 4 days ago. It looks Gr8 i hope your return comes back swiftly for yall
Garage door opener. Will you install a wall mount garage door opener and eliminate the overhead door opener? That's my suggestion.
Looking great! May I borrow you for a few weeks? Come to South Carolina for a little bit and work your way through my honey do list? Think about it…
Might of been cheaper to just knock it all down and build new lol... definitely get rid of that tree goin through the deck, don't want any trees on a house, just no good for the roof or anything else...
YIKES!! I would have been tempted to just get a bulldozer and level it. Then start over.
You think your shop is in a mess? You should come and see mine! I'll enter the next build contest to get you guys to come help reorganize my stuff!
The right way to do things! In my condo they had the electrical remade, but they left the old one(s!) there. A sea of cables, and you don't know what the hell they are!
Great work... So much has happened! Can't wait to see all the finishing you all are doing in it.
18 inches of beam seems like a case of over engineering but I guess stronger than it needs to be is better than not strong enough.
@ 12:15 the kitchen sink in today's houses means much less because of dishwashers / mainly used to wash vegetables / a sink in the island might be a better choice
How does insurance work up there? I'm curious since you're in a heavily forested area. You do awesome work
With all the work your vacation house needed, would you have bought this house? Knowing what you know now.
Really good progresse, lot of structural issue done, bravo.
Un vrai beau projet même si cela est un gros investissement ;)
Engineer here: respect level should be lower. We pretty much just guess on every project.
Golf: That is called team building business activity
we just had those same windows put in about a month ago. they look awesome!
Is there a second full bath or do kids have to use the master bathroom to shower?
The place is looking perfect! Are you still going to make it a air b-n-b?
walking ad of stuff you got for free huh... lucky you :)
You just shave your chest, back and arms in the shower, Jason.
You’re a good golfer too! Man, I hate people who excel at everything they do.
Slow down your backswing, brother. 🥸
Window wernt flashed oregon really come on guys
Looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see the hardscaping go in!
Great job.... but no shower upstairs?
How long till Jason builds a new shop in the cabin?
I see progress, beautiful beautiful progress.
Jason, you son of a gun. I’m a big fan of your work. Thanks for sharing.
Those woods in the back are just awesome!
I like the "This Old House" style into.
Don't forget to get ALL of your inspections
Overpaid for a dodgy house? we have all been there.
Gotta love "can of worms" projects.
i think Craig is standing on the wrong side of the ball.
How do you put a new footer under an old house?
You should make a pond or something
That new place is looking good.
It should be stamped concrete
That cost more than $1,000.00
Networking opportunities.
New House. Looks positive.
Nice swing. Poor Craig lol
Can I have the rabbit?
Who's Marvin?
By adding either your wife or brad for the foil originally as ororiginally played by Shelly Long in the movie "The Money Pit" you would have a hit movie. Maybe it's the filming but for me this layout does not make sense and seem livable/practical. Too many quirks that do not seem to connect with each other. If the numbers work before furnishing I would sell if the housing market allowed me to pull the ripcord. This home will be in my opinion while now sound difficult to maintain as an absentee owner for short term vacation rentals. You have corrected many issues both structural and layout the same way I do by accepting the issues and fixing with dead presidents. Who was the original engineer and architect and builder I would revoke all their licenses? Best of luck, I hope you can make this investment work for you and your family the area is stunning. Ray
Some folks hire a local property manager to handle properties that are too far away to manage.
Howdy 🎉❤😊
FORE!!!
Does Craig know he's standing on the wrong side of the ball?
Left handed like me.
👌
You can say "master bedroom".... it's okay. Really.
Jason it is coming along nicely but can I make a recommendation and replace the hot water heater with a conventional water heater! It seems very inefficient to heat hot water……just sayin 😂
If you don't heat the hot water, it eventually becomes cold water.
Silly me! Back to my woodworking because a plumber I am not! Building a new cabinet to house my new hot water heater that is fed from the water heater! Pesky cold water. Take care brother!
Air B&B or second home?
Air b&b
Don't tell the IRS about what?
Replying to @SkippyRo:
I will finish your sentence FOR you:
"you did here"
Did I finish your sentence right?
Exactly
What flannel shirts are those?
Need this information as well
@@tangofox4434 it’s Wrangler. Paused and zoomed in.
@@KhrisKringle thanks. On mobile and wasn’t able to get a good look.
*rerun electricity in the whole house, move plumbing in multiple rooms, make structural changes interior and exterior* are you sure you didn't want to just build a new house? 💰
$1,000,000 invested is $1,000,000+ earned! Looks like a great plan!
@ 4:50 common on ! You Have To Mention The Guys On Stilts !!!
lol, LOL!!!! Suc-u-lent. 😆🤣😂 That's going in the joke book.
Craig, you’re standing too close to the ball……after you hit it :)
Primary bedroom? Primary bathroom? What happened to Master bedroom, master bathroom???
I don't know if this content produces more views and stuff, but this channel went from woodworking to rich man bragging about his expensive shit really fast. at this rate we will be at cardashian level crap really sooon
Don't be jealous of his success... He obviously worked hard to get where he's at! He has earned it.
As a contractor in the PNW…All said and done, I would estimate this remodel to cost you about $250k all said and done. Seems like a waste of money for that specific house. Hopefully you can recoup some with the Airbnb. But it’s gonna be A WHILE. Some house make sense to remodel to this extent, for an investment like in your case, no house is worth this level of remodel.
