Hey guys… hope everyone is doing well! We are recovering from getting slammed by the remnants of hurricane Helene. All of our crew is OK but many have lost their homes, businesses, and lives locally and across the entire southeast. Many small communities in WNC have been completely wiped out by unprecedented flooding. Our hearts and prayers are with all of those affected from Florida to Virginia. We have spent the last couple of days chainsaw trees, and helping neighbors, but the rebuilding efforts will take years. On a positive note, I found a place that had satellite Internet so I was able to release this video. Hope you guys enjoy and are staying safe.
All you guys be safe in the recovery efforts. Have many friends living in the Asheville, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure Area. I cry when I see Devastation on the area!
At a time when I'm nervous about our country, I am full of joyful pride that viewers around the world are seeing the PBB team and recognizing American workers as you represent us! I love you guys!!!
So glad PBB and crew are ok and helping out neighbors. Hope the job site held up in all the rains. Grateful the eye of the storm went right over western Swain Co and my home so high winds were not an issue here. So very sorry others were not so lucky. The devastation in Asheville and surrounding areas is unreal! Holding folks in my heart as they deal with the long term aftermath. Wish I could help in some way but having had hip replacement surgery 9/25/24 puts me out of commission in the physical help realm. Thanks for the laughs with the love scene of Erik and Jason. Jaime’s column envy also laugh out loud 😹! I needed some levity from the last week of weather and healing from surgery! Stay safe boys, love you all!
@@patrickkenny2077 - thanks! Drove by Cardinal coffee today going to and from town to a Physical Therapy appt They were doing a booming business! So glad this end of WNC was spared the worst of Helene!
With the recient storm and flooding in your area I certainly hope you guys are all safe and sound with your familys. I watch your channel daily and love the content. Our prayers are with you.
I really hope you, your family and friends and neighbors, are all ok and there are no floodings in your homes!! Saludos from Ensenada, Mexico, home of the Baja 1000
Hello, Perkins Brothers and team, We are reaching out from Canberra, Australia, and our hearts go out to you as we watched the devastating footage of the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in western Northern Carolina and Tennessee on TH-cam. The scenes of human suffering and widespread damage are truly heartbreaking. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your community as you work towards recovery, and our hearts go out to those who have lost so much.
Having built some houses, it is a privilege to get to watch you guys work. The authenticity, integrity, and wonderful disposition in your character exudes excellence. It would be an honor to help build with you if I still did that. You guys look good at what you’re doing and make it look so easy! Blessings!!
It is SO good to see an upload from you guys... especially in light of the storm/hurricane that hit this past weekend. We've seen all sorts of footage showing all the damage in Ashville and other places, and right away we get concerned for how you weathered all of that. ... and your rental properties/partnerships! I hope you'll come through the other end of this relatively unscathed. If you didn't in this video, please update us on your situation.
I hope you are all okay. I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through with the storms you're experiencing. I live in Denmark, and we don't experience anything like what you're facing. My heart is with you, and I hope again that you and your family are doing well
i'm still watching the Kitchen Addition & Remodel EP05 from 2 years ago so i hope to see this series when you guys finish, love you guys and stay safe.
Dreamy Jamie is soothingly awesome to watch and makes my day too...just love watching construction in general..the coolest process of stages till completion..and hands smirk smile is awwwwwww adorable too ❤❤❤🏗️🚧🧰👷♂️⛏️
So glad to hear you're all ok. You have been on my mind all weekend as we are close neighbors... I'm over in Newport, TN our area was hit very hard like yours. My family is ok and made it through relatively unscathed... Unfortunately too many others can't say the same.
They built some of those on the farms my father leases. There are two layers of one inch diameter reinforcement bars you are looking at. And those reinforcement bars tie into two rows of one inch bolts at the top because they bolt them down on the outside and inside of the tower tube. AND, all the dirt they dug out of the hole will be packed back down into the hole with only one or two inches being above grade. That is not only what prevents those wind generators from sinking down but it also prevents them from toppling over in strong winds. And where I live we will periodically get straight line wind storms with gust up to 100 MPH. Been 15 years since they put them in and they are still standing strong.
Been praying for you all. I have no doubt your communities will rebuild. Love that area and will support how I can. My wife and I got engaged in Valle Crucis 8 years ago. Still love to visit the Boone/Bryson City general areas. You all are a great picture of the spirit I’ve seen in that part of the state. Best wishes. So glad you all are safe.
Great to see you and Alex biking. It’s mentally hard to see y’all before the devastation of the last few days knowing what was going to happen. Glad again everyone is safe as of posting the video.
Hey guys! Loyal follower. Wait every week for newest video. Have learned a LOT from watching you guys. I install flooring for a living but construction intrigues me. When I'm building something now, I have you guys kinda talking in the back of my head lol. Also wanted to mention, I've signed up for AG1! Thank you for the link Currently watching your Mega House build. Have fun! BE SAFE!
Looking at those plans that Jamie has drawn reminded me of an episode of Grand Designs (UK based house building programme) where the final house had little QR code plaques in the house. This left the owners with a house manual, giving advice on everything from replacing lightbulbs and retouching paint colours to watering the roof garden. It also had full plans on how the house was built. Would be amazing to see Jamie's plans live forever via those.
As a fellow North Carolinian I’m saddened by what happened in WNC. I’m glad to hear everyone made it. I am sure there are families far less fortunate. Be safe and good luck with the rebuild process.
Jamie has always been very cerebral with this work, but I've REALLY enjoyed Jamie taking the time to explain the what, why, and where of each element. Good job Jamie!
I’m glad to see a new post. I hope everyone is doing ok post Helene. The images coming out of WNC the last few days are heartbreaking. The devastation is unfathomable.
I would love to see more of the building plans and some of the material calculations Jaime has to handle daily. Might not be the most exciting content but I think y'all can make it entertaining and educational.
As I watch this episode on the 1st of October, I hope the jobsite, all you guys' homes and families made it through Helene without problems or minimal problems. God bless.
Yippie!! I am glad the team is ok after the storm came through!! I hope you all talk about your experience of all the rain & flooding in your area. I am loving the build! KUTGW 😀
I’m glad you are safe and thinking about the people who had their lives changed forever. I just had to comment on the video I saw from West Jefferson, we go there quite often and I saw major destruction It made my heart hurt but I know you guys in W NC will recover and come back stronger.
I did something like that and welded together a metal termination block that the vertical 4x4 terminated into and the beams rested on top of that. Keeps the rain out and makes sure the weight is spread evenly between the four posts
one recomendation, always put a 4-6 mi plastic barrier (evan plastic bags) between the concrete and soil, it help you not lose humidity from the concrete and in the long shot stop humidity to start "climbing" the concrete into de rebar
