Racism is nothing new, but until recently there were rarely headlines about discrimination against Asians in America.
Since the pandemic started, there have been several incidents of Asians across the country being attacked, threatened and blamed for the coronavirus. That includes in Texas.
In San Antonio, an Asian restaurant was graffitied. "Go back 2 China" was written on the wood. The words "Kung Flu" were sprayed on the windows.
According to Stop AAPI Hate, between March 2020 and February 2021, more than 3,795 incidents of Anti-Asian hate were recorded. At least 103 of those incidents were in Texas.
"Texas also has 20% of the cases that are physical assaults," said Dr. Russell Jeung, co-founder of Stop AAPI Hate. AAPI stands for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Dr. Jeung said, "There's been a surge of racism. There's been an increase in hate crimes and overall blatant racism and racist policies."
As an Asian, it's really frightening to even step outside of my house these days. I didn't realize existing as who I am could be enough reason to be hated when I'm also just another victim of Covid like everyone else..

@Brad Robert I've never been robbed or been a victim of crime in my life. Under your logic, does that mean robbery doesn't exist or crime is embellished? Even though the majority of people are peaceful, law abiding folks, there is always going to be a minority who is blatantly racist who act on their racism, commit crimes, etc. Asian Americans are being beat up or harassed from coast to coast, with a spike in reported hate crimes in both red and blue states across the country. While the majority of Americans are decent folks and the majority of Asian Americans won't experience any hate crimes, hate crimes are still a real thing - ignoring the fact that there is still racism and hate crimes is counterproductive. Also, if you look anything like you do in your profile picture, then it makes sense that you've never heard any Anti-Asian comments - you're a white Caucasian of European descent. You're much more likely to hear these racist or stereotypical comments if you're part of the minority group being targeted.

Sadly that is the truth. Things unfortunately stayed in the same in America since 1968 when violent civil unrest forced a change. Fighting gets you somewhere, and neither whining nor yelling gets you anywhere. Respects towards Korean Americans. I remember in the LA riots the Korean business were protected by the brave armed Korean Americans.

Well apparently it was swine flu pandemic arose on factory farms in Mexico in 2009ish.
People were trying to blame it on Asian back then.
But a subsequent report[41] by researchers at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2016 found that the 2009 H1N1 virus likely originated from pigs in a very small region of central Mexico.
I didn't hear the president at the time going around on national tv saying it is the Mexican flu.
My brother went to Paris last year. He was called "ching-chong, go back to china!" by people that sell eiffel tower figures just arounf the actual eiffel tower when my brother refused to buy it. They pushed him. Unfortunately my brother is an amateure MMa fighter in Japan, so he beat up two of them fracturing their nose and eye sockets. He went to jail for a week and got sent back to Japan :) He said racism exist there but it was all fun experience.

This is nothing new. The only thing new is the media is reporting about this.
Texas is second largest in population but fourth in AAPI attacks. Which means there's states with fewer people but more attacks.
As an Asian I can definitely feel the resentment towards us even here in Canada. Thanks goodness Canadians in general are not violent but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Most of the attacks are verbal but also most Asian business suffered 2x as much during the pandemic. Even in the job market, it's harder to get a job if you are Asian, definitely the prejudice is gaining momentum.

Too many people watch it happen thinking it's not my problem, but if we let this happen to anyone, this could happen to you or anyone, we don't want to build a culture like that. East Asian here, this kind of stuff has been going on my entire life. People look at me strangely and visibly move out of my way more than usual-I feel othered, like I don’t belong here. I have White parents, no ties to my birth country, and no matter what I do or how I speak, people are going to think I’m a foreigner. It’s exhausting. I hope for the safety and security of my fellow Asians, regardless of where you are.

Keaundra Young, 24, was indicted on charges of assaulting Jung Kim on March 17 2021.A grand jury concluded that the assault was motivated by racial bias and added a hate crime enhancement to the charge.

I live in an HOA in east Texas that has all white supremist board members & staff; I am white but they will not let of my Asian friends in the gate to visit me. The house next door to mine is up for sale, my Asian friends tried to buy it but the white supremist owner would not sell it to them nor will the HOA allow them to live there if they did buy it.
Immigrants move here thinking they are escaping to a better life but are actually going from a frying pan to be thrown in a fire.

Where our feet land whatever country we don't ask to be born, we don't have any control over that, so the world is open to anybody.
At first I felt that way too to refer the hate to people who are from Wuhan but then I noticed that makes no sense, there is no point in that, we should be stopping the hate not passing it on to someone else. I'm 6th generation born in North America from Chinese decent, now I stand saying that no one deserves discrimination not even people from Wuhan China or anywhere. Division will only bring more hardship and chaos, we can't just "switch sports jerseys" to pass the target onto someone else when it's convienient for us. Help stop discrimination of all kinds. 1) California with 1,691 incidents making up 44.56% of Asian hate crimes. 2) New York with 517 incidents making up 13.62% 3) Washington with 158 incidents making up 4.16% 4) Texas with 103 incidents making up 2.71%. I got this from KOAA News of southern Colorado . One way to stop the hate is to fight back; carry a weapon, mace, etc. when you see it happening. That will leave a sizable part of the crowd more hesitant to attack other people.

If you are migrated from one country to another country, you must maintain the courtesy and dignity over the native people and country.
I am seeing majority of people who got visa or PR think themselves that they are part of that country and they think they can do whatever they want to do. That's not right, you are not part of them and you always belong to some other region and go there for the job which is belong to one native person.

Hard working Asian people showed they never needed Affirmative Action programs to get ahead. This incurred the rage of many black Americans. It also irritated Affirmatice Action white liberals because Asians showed Affirmative Action wasn’t necessary to get ahead. This same white liberals instituted practices at high level Americannuniversities to keep Asians out. Actually made required scores higher for Asians and lower for black Americans. This discrimination towards Asians by universities was pointed out by - surprise? Donald Trump, although mainstream medium avoided reporting it. Asian student applications have been refused for the vaguest of reasons. Also, in street crime, for decades elderly Asians have been attacked by black youths in a “game” they called “Knockout Game”. Elderly Asians have been killed in front of their families. Again, the liberal media refuses to report all of this. The recent attack on a woman by a black man who kicked and punched her while two doorman did nothing, was partly surprising because it was actually reported by CNN, who routinely ignore these attacks.
I’m no racist but I say fair reporting of real life facts for all.
