- When a gunman went on a killing spree last week in Atlanta, it sparked national outrage and conversation around the rise of racism against Asian Americans.

Since the Covid crisis began, there has been a massive increase in hate crimes against Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and other Asian Americans in the US.

I’ve experienced racism in supermarkets, stores, at work, from strangers, and even at doctors' offices.
One thing racists do not discriminate against is where they display their closed-mindedness and hatred.
I’d like to believe their behavior comes from a place where they have been wrongly informed. Because people are scared of what they don’t know.
However, on the flip side...I’ve learned that some people are just haters and closed-minded.

Some of the biggest incidents happened where I live and I’m getting worried about going out. Especially more worried for my mom who is an elderly asian woman and a lot of the attacks seem to be aimed at her demographic. What can we do to protect ourselves and our family? Some people say I shouldn’t worry but I can’t help but worry because even though I live in a high Asian population city, the attacks seem to be surging in my city. I never thought this would ever happen here in America.

I was a social worker. There has been a great amount of tension between the black community and the asian community for decades. This is nothing new.
Heck, there is a great deal of tension between light skinned blacks and dark skinned blacks.

There are things really wrong in the notorious things that keep happening in the USA. Perhaps it's bad when others out of fear froze when witnessing somebody is being beaten helplessly. However, the worse is when witnesses silently sympathize with the attacker by letting the attacker freely beat the victim. The government and authorities may have not been doing much proper action to address these Asian hate crimes.
