you asked about their ages, they started when the lead singer (Sumetal) was 14 and the backup singers (Moametal and Yuimetal) were 13, they are now in their mid 20's. Yui had to drop out for medical reasons so for a while it was just Su and Moa but last year they pulled in a reserve dancer to become the new official 3rd member Mokometal. this is the band that pioneered the Kawaii-metal genre. their first hit was Doki-Doki Morning. They have such a range of styles from the all out death metal of Babymetal Death, to softer almost ballard of the one. I recomend looking at Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!, Give me Chocolate and Catch me if you can. they are good introduction songs to the craziness that is BabyMetal, from there I'd say look at their 'black babymetal' period with onedari daisakusen, the live version of which is MoaMetal solo.
I'll pay good money to watch BABYMETAL in concert but pay you so I can watch you reacting to BABYMETAL? No thanks - if I want to spend my money on something silly, I'll buy a half-gallon of Crown Royal.
You were right about the Dragonforce sound. Much of the song was written by the manager and other musicians behind most of the Babymetal songs. But the guitar riffs were co-written by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce. They also performed on the album.
No, they didn't, search on TH-cam "Herman Li of Dragonforce talks about Babymetal". The only thing Dragonforce did was playing the guitar parts for the album, not writing it.
No, you're all wrong. I heard that Herman Li actually IS Su-Metal. He just puts a dress on and gets his makeup done really nice, and no one notices because he already has fantastic hair. Throw in a little auto-tune magic and you can't even tell it's him. Pretty amazing when you think about it.
If I remember correctly, this performance was when the lead girl (Su-Metal) was 16, and the other two were 14. Can you imagine, basically commanding a crowd of 20,000 people, and then going to class in high school a couple of days later??
Great reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL. And excellent song and video choices to start with. This was the epic final encore of a super epic concert, New Year Fox Festival - Legend 2015 held on January 10th 2015 at Saitama Super Arena, with a sold-out crowd of over 20.000 people. Su-metal (the lead singer) had turned 17 few weeks before this show, while Yuimetal and Moametal were both 15 at the time. Well, it better sound like DragonForce since Herman Li and Sam Totman collaborated with BABYMETAL on this one doing the guitar arrangements and also playing on the studio recording. Funnily enough they ended up performing it live with the girls later that same year. They also snuck them in their own time slot at Download Festival 2015 when Andy Copping (DL promoter) had banned them from performing the festival (he isn't still over this). 🤣 They define themselves as a fusion of "kawaii" (cute) and metal and they are very diverse musically since they don't hesitate on mixing any music genre with metal (any sub-genre). So always expect the unexpected and prepare to be surprised (in a good way). I'd like to suggest you to check out their newer songs: "Divine Attack", "mirror Mirror", "MAYA", "Monochrome", etc. (ideally live). Until next time! 🤘🦊
Oh wow! 😳 I thought it sounded like Dragonforce some and now that makes sense considering they all collaborated! Thanks for the info and swinging by! 🤘🏻
Welcome to BABYMETAL, and great reaction. They resumed their activities last year after about a year and a half of inactivity, and decided to go on a concert tour to 25 countries, attracting 250,000 people. More BABYMETAL!
I saw them live last year and it was awesome! They also legitimately did have a wall of death in their mosh pit during one song. The energy they bring is even more stunning in person, you'd best believe I (and everyone else) sang my heart out for this song, which is what they closed the concert with.
You should check out "Babymetal - Tales of the Destinies (Tokyo Dome Live 2016) Eng Subs". So technical they've only did it live once... in front of 55,000 people at the Tokyo Dome.
Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey.🦊🤘🔥 Always glad to see more reactors getting into this amazing group, trust me you ain't see nothing yet. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. About this song: Just like here it was the ender for the show in the recent World Tour 2023, and everyone loved to have fun with this one. "Road Of Resistance" is a power/speed metal song, it's one of their most epic anthem and the album version got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce (you got the right vibes). It's all about facing your own path without looking back. This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, by this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment. With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remembered when they're performing this song to remind them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages. The Kami Band here are a magnificent set of elite musicians who were sent to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarists). They are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly passed away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but his fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to make them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed from X-Japan saying it at live concerts too. Next suggestion; - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. I'm gonna try to leave in my next comment where to get safe clips to react if YT allows me to do it. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥
Appreciate all the info! Can’t wait to hear more from this band! That crowd was insane from the start to finish! So fun to watch! Thanks for stopping by! 🤘🏻

What is BabyMetal?" is more short and with some fair update until this year unlike the other one. th-cam.com/video/9X5vj1-Sg_4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=icqbG22Ysw0Pc-Ll 🦊🤘
@@setonhillstudios Don't mention it, there's a lot of more suggestions including new songs from latest year but this is a starting pack to appreciate the evolution once you get there. Have a nice weekend.🦊👍
Babymetal is Japan's #1 International Group!! They also hit #1 in the USA in 2019 on Billboards "Top Rock Album" chart with their 3rd album "Metal Galaxy"!! During this performance, Su-metal (lead singer) was 17 and Yuimetal and Moametal were both 15. Suzuka just turned 26 in December and Yui and Moa are both 24, though Yui left the group back in 2018. But you will get more info on that as you slide further down the Fox Hole!! More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 BABYMETAL performed in your town, Louisville KY, on Sep.23 last year at Louder Than Life Festival. This anthemic song was played there in the finale. BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover) We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
They were at Louder than Life?!? So cool! Wish I would have known about them then! Thanks for all the info and swinging by! We appreciate it so much! 🤘🏻
Ridiculously talented band, the craziest most dedicated fans, and all of the young ladies are great singers, dancers, and the athleticism is through the roof (just try to keep that energy, do those dance moves, and sing at the same time for the duration of a full concert). Plus, add in the most amazing set designs as well. Oh, and great storytelling through their albums.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏴 🏴 🏴 "Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) - Pretty much a master class in audience control. The lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or just "Su") had just turned 17 a couple of weeks before this January 10th, 2015 concert. Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) were 15. Su is about a year-and-a-half older than the other two. BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song. You can definitely feel the power metal component in this one though. This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) with a sold out crowd of over 20,000. Su first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old. She's been back many times since with BABYMETAL.
It's still anthemic even after all these years! Their shows are spectacular - I saw them live for the first time in 23, and at the end I was torn between wanting more and amazement that they'd kept up the energy for as long as they had. Smart reaction, ta!
@@setonhillstudios They co-headlined a US tour last year with Dethklok. I saw them in Philly and it might have been the best concert I've ever been to.
I also saw them on the Babylok tour. Such a treat. Babymetal live is a whole different beast to the albums. They have the best interactions with the crowds.
All the very best Metal and Rock of the 21st century is being made by Japanese female and female-led bands. I've been Rocking and Metalling since the mid 70's but haven't looked west since 2016 due to the unreal levels of musicianship there. Babymetal (and their superb band, as seen here, the Kami Band), Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Asterism....the list goes on and on.
That was a fantastic reaction. You were super engaged and had great comments. Really liked your very positive energy too. Nice job. Right off the bat one reason this has a Dragonforce feel to it is Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragon force did the guitar arrangements. Technically speaking Babymetal is the three ladies, the Kami Band who backs them here are among a group of elite players from Japan (Kami Band of the East) and America (Kami Band of the West) who are part of the Babymetal experience. In this performance I believe Su aka Sumetal was 16 and Yui and Moa were still 14. Which when you view their commanding stage presence is kind of amazing. Babymetal is still going strong Su-who turned 26 this past December and the rest of the crew have continued to innovate, mature and rock the house for over 10 years now. This may be the most impressive live performance I've ever seen and I've been around for quite a while. You seemed to me exactly the type of person who can really appreciate a band like Babymetal who are perfectionists and give 100% every time they step on a stage (and stick with Babymetal and you will see some of the most amazing stages you could ever imagine). On a personal note I have to add, that I was thrilled when I saw you were a drummer. Hidecki Aoyami the drummer here delivers some of the most powerful and relentless drumming I've ever heard on this track. I'm sure you noticed. As you can no doubt understand Babymetal are noted for their legendary performances so many if not most Babymetal fans recommend live performances for reactions. The energy level can be ridiculous! You got my sub and I look forward to hopefully hearing more Babymetal reactions.
"In this performance I believe Su aka Sumetal was 16 and Yui and Moa were still 14." This concert was from January 10th, 2015. Su was 17 years old, and Yui and Moa were both 15.
Last year I saw them live at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia. It was great, but to see them in Japan where they fill the biggest venues with the $1,000,000+ stage setups has to be brutal.
Thanks for this reaction, very good. Welcome to the most famous Japanese teenagers outside of Japan (at the time, they aren't kids anymore) and most famous teens in metal genre too. Yep, before Babymetal nobody had seen choreographed dances like this in metal. Babymetal started at 15, 15 and 16 years old have been doing world tours ! These kids are wild. You clearly know a few things, you. For example finally someone who can also realistically guess crowdnumbers as well ! it was 20 000. 🙂
Not sure if it's been mentioned or not but this was at the end of an hour plus show. And they have a different dance for every song. I saw them years ago in Chicago and they put this much energy into that show as well.
Great first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello. 🤘🦊🤘
Now I will also add for future reference, Babymetal is just the girls, the band is a session band with more then 20 members who rotate in and out, they are call the Kami band and there are two different Kami Bands there is the Kami band who wear white robes and corps paint and the Western Kami Band who wear masks and black robes, there is no official Babymetal Band
The concert is at Yokohama arena. Capacity is 20,000. Like every Babymetal concert in Japan, and the world for that matter, it's sold out. Less than a year later they performed back to back nights at the Tokyo Dome at 55,000 per night.... in other words, they sold out the Tokyo Dome for two nights in a row. Soon after this concert they headlined Wembley Arena in London. In 2019, they headlined The Forum in LA. They just came off a 100+ date world tour including the US and Europe and are currently scheduled for most of the major rock/metal festivals across the world in 2024.
I saw Babymetal live here in Sydney last year. The crowd was amazing, old rockers, families with kids on shoulders, cosplayers, goths , all kinds. The show was just so much fun everyone just had a great time. The one thing that blew me away is just show small the girls are and yet how much energy and power they project. BTW I am 62
I should add some things about the song, this was the 3rd performance ever of this song, but one of the things that impress me is they make it look like they've been performing it for years, even though they are still kids. The first performance was in the UK at a much smaller venue (chosen in part because the UK is where the guys from Dragonforce are from), in Japan in an ever smaller exclusive venue only for fan club members. And then this performance. In interviews when they looked back over their 10 years existence of Babymetal (over 13 now) they mention this performance as well as a highlight. This was the first arena show of Babymetal, after their first world tour (which went with their first album release) and before their second world tour. This song became a mainstay. Sadly an other song had to clear the spot of closing song on basically every show, which is now this song and has now been performed 269 times. Always and everywhere gives an epic feeling. 🙂 I don't know, I'll shut up with throwing out random facts LOL
😂🤣 No worries, I love it! I always like digging into these bands and learning more! Epic is definitely a perfect way to describe this band and their shows! Thanks!
Looking forward to the next Babymetal reaction, if you have any questions don't be shy to ask in the comments, some knowledgeable fans are around watching reaction videos.
When this footage was recorded, this song was released only a day before and it had been played live in London a few months before. It was really incredible that everyone could sing along perfectly.
They have fun songs, meaningful songs, fast, slow, some will make you laugh, some will make you cry... Babymetal is amazing!!! Hope to see more from ya!🤙
Yeah so the name of the band is Kami Band and I got to see the original 4 play in a small club in Tokyo, I wanna say it was in 2012 or 2013 and they absolutely shredded
Welcome to Babymetal! I’m sure you’ve gotten tons of info already, so I apologize for repeat info: *1:20** - The girls and the band* Officially, Babymetal is just the 3 gals, but the session musicians of the Kami Band has been playing live for them since 2012, fully since 2014. Same core guys, until passing of guitarist Mikio Fujioka in Jan 2018, and 2019’s addition of Kami Band West to assist with increased touring. So they are very much “Babymetal”, even if unofficially. *4:07** - Dragonforce?* Yep! Herman Li and Sam Tottman of Dragonforce co-wrote the guitars. *5:38** - Pop band and metal music* This is exactly what Babymetal is going for - fusion of J-Pop and Heavy Metal, thus starting their own genre of Kawaii Metal (cute metal). *7:17** - Leading the crowd* Babymetal is 100% a live performance act and crowd engagements are their specialty! *8:48** - How many people?* ~20K sold out show in Jan 2015, Tokyo. *10:20** - Choreography* Mikiko Mizuno is the choreographer, and she consulted on 2016 Summer Olympics too! *13:12** - How old are they?* At the time of this performance (Jan 2015), lead Su-metal just turned 17 and her “Lieutenants” 😂, Yui and Moa are 15. They started Babymetal in 2010 at the age of 12/11. To quote Rob Halford of Judas Priest, after performing cover of Painkiller and Breaking the Law on stage with Babymetal at the 2016 APMAs: “These monster ladies are the future of metal.” As of today, Babymetal are 13 year veterans of the show biz, with 9 years of world tours, 4 albums, and 60+ songs. I’m sure you’ll get tons of suggestions, all are wonderful. Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊
You are a legend for answering all these with time stamps! Thanks so much! There is so much more coming from this channel when it comes to Babymetal! I am excited to hear what else they have out there! It is appreciated more than you know! 🙏🏻🤘🏻
@@setonhillstudios My pleasure, and thank you for checking them out! After I discovered them, Babymetal became my absolute favorite band of all time, period lol. You’ll get so much variety in their music, straight death metal, to prog metal, to rap metal, even salsa metal, and pirate metal lol. Much fun to be had!
This song does a pretty good job showing the kami band behind the girls, but id suggest "Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live" (band is front and center, invite only arena, epic intro, heavier song). But if your new new to babymetal you cant go wrong with either Megitsune (music viseo help explains the fox theme behind Babymetal) or BMTH Kingslayer ft BabyMetal live in Tokyo (probably the two hypest songs in their catalog, along with Pa Pa Ya live). Welcome to the fox hole 🦊
I'm going to subscribe to your channel right now and wait for your reactions to Rondo of nightmare (WITH Mischiefs of god intro please), Akatsuki, Karate, Megitsune, Headbangerrrr and BxMxC@@setonhillstudios
Excellent first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 Sorry in advance if I am repeating anything you were already told. They are a Japanese band formed in 2010, there were 3 original members (they were only 12 and 11 years old at the time) and we have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet. This video was filmed at their concert in January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. That was over 20,000 people completely under the control of Su, Yui and Moa - Su was just 17, Yui and Moa still only 15 at that time. You have a good ear - you have a;lready been told about Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce's involvement in the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in). BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and Momometal (in charge of backing vocals, harmonies and mainly hyping and involving the crowd with their choreo). The original third member Yuimetal last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for health reasons until she announced she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band. Su and Moa continued as a duo for 4 or 5 years supported from 2019 by 3 dancers who would take turns dancing in the third spot until 1st April 2023 when one of those dancers, Momoko, was finally revealed as the new official third member. BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics to create their very own sub-genre ... and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings. They don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music). BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement. They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They first appeared in October 2012 and became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014. In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced and they have been supporting BABYMETAL on their more extended foreign tours since then. They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different from the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal, often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it. Look for 'Monochrome' live at the PIA MM Arena BABYMETAL Begins, Clear Night and see what they were doing in April last year just before they set off on their world tour (over 90 concerts all around the USA and Canada, SE Asia, Australia and Europe). Or Jake Muller's list of suggestions is very good.
Appreciate the detailed comment! You are right, they have a unique style and approach all their own! Can’t wait to hear more! When the crowd hit that death wall I was like “Here we gooooo! “ 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Thanks for stopping by!
Yessssss.....!!! New original babymetal reaction. Yui team here ❤ Road of resistance is Yui's favorite song. Thank you for showing your love to Yui's era of babymetal ❤
Good reaction. Welcome to the crazy universe of BabyMetal. BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin. Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.). One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born. The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads. And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them. And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did). In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on TH-cam (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. KobaMetal had doubts about taking the step, since their musical proposal (Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal, a genre of which they are considered creators) might not be accepted in the West and the metalheads who went to the Sonisphere had a reputation for saying goodbye to very bad manners to the artists they didn't like (even with bottles full of urine), but they were offered to go to one of the secondary stages (about 5000 spectators) and they ended up accepting. But the success of BabyMetal on TH-cam and the fact that all the concerts they were going to give in Europe were sold out in a few days, convinced the producers to take them to the main stage, where they would share with groups like Metallica, for example. How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. . But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one." And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well. They currently have 4 albums on the market: -Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces. -Metal Resistence (2016): an album that, without losing the essence of the first, shows more mature music, going from childhood to adolescence. Songs like Karate were a large part of his presentation in the West. -Metal Galaxy (2018): a turning point in its style. Without abandoning their energy, they turned their attention to new forms of metal fusion (hip-hop, dance music, Hindu music or European folklore, among others), projecting a much more mature music in keeping with their age, which was already around 21 years old. of Su and the 18 of Moa (unfortunately Yui left the group due to health problems). Pa Pa Ya is from this album. And now in 2023 they have just released their new album "The Other One", which is, again, totally different from what they have done until now (one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal is that their songs are usually very different some from others (although they are all positive adrenaline releases). Currently BabyMetal is considered the most important Heavy Metal group in Japan (I'm not saying the best, that's for everyone to decide) and the most influential in history in the West (it has reached levels that no other Japanese heavy group has reached before). ). The journey through the Babymetal galaxy may be long, but it is certainly entertaining and with a few songs it drags you with a smile into the fox hole
@@setonhillstudios You have started with an excellent cover letter. I recommend you continue with the milestone I'm talking about: Ijime Dame Zettai at Sonisphere 2014 th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HBwZyYla50yvLMa8
Now you know such a thing exists. They even danced the 2nd guitar solo; people seem to miss that. How do you dance a guitar solo? BabyMetal: "Hold my beer."...
From a drummer's standpoint, this is probably a pretty good place to start exploring Babymetal. Don't be fooled by their cute appearance, Babymetal put on a high intensity show that leaves the audience exhausted. This performance was called "Legend 2015 - The New Year Fox Festival" and was held on the 10th of January 2015 at Super Saitama Arena in Tokyo with a sold out crowd of 20,000. The group was the brainchild of their producer/manager Kobametal, who wanted to revitalize interest in metal music in Japan and thought that blending metal with J-pop (Japanese pop music) would make it more approachable to new audiences. Babymetal are the pioneers of this new style of hybrid metal that they call "kawaii metal" (cute metal) because it blends the vocals, dance, and aesthetics of J-pop with the music of heavy metal. This video features the three founding members of Babymetal; Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) is the lead vocalist, and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) are the backing vocalists and dancers. Yuimetal was forced to retire from Babymetal due to health issues in 2018, leading to Su-metal and Moametal continuing as a duo until April 2023, when Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) joined as the new third member after having served as a backup dancer for the past four years. The group began in 2010 when Su-metal was 12 and Yuimetal and Moametal were 10, so they have been Babymetal for more than half their lives. At the time of this performance Su-metal was 17 and Yuimetal and Moametal were 15. The musicians that back them during live performances are called the "Kami Band" (God/Spirit band); they are some of Japan's top session musicians, hand picked by Kobametal to accompany Babymetal. The lineup of the Kami band isn't fixed, and members rotate in and out depending on availability, though there are a few members that appear frequently. The Kami band at this show was Leda Cygnus (guitars), Takayoshi Ohmura (guitars), BOH (bass), and Hideki Aoyama (drums). In recent years, a second Kami band made up of American musicians has been created for their overseas tours. In 2023, they performed 94 shows in 26 countries as part of their world tour.
That was the second and most pure metal album by Babymetal. Their first was experimental and for the third they had already developed their own genere, what now named kawai metal.
Great reaction and welcome to the Foxhole! 🤘🦊🤘 Most of the truly important information has been or will be given in other comments, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base) as well as other (un)important information. BABYMETAL started as an experimental sub-unit of the larger JPop/JRock group Sakura Gakuin. Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess. Before Sakura Gakuin, she performed in a stage production of "The Adventurers" and was a member of the JPop trio, Karen Girls. Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Former member since 2018: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess, Yui-bot and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Yui had a minor role as a child actor in a Japanese TV Drama before joining Sakura Gakuin. She has cute, chubby cheeks. Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs. ** WARNING ** Do NOT, ever, under any circumstances call her “small”, "smol", “short” or “tiny” (same rule applies to Moametal). Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love\Smile, Queen of Hearts, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon. She has huge dimples and a smile that melts the hardest of hearts. Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage with little pranks as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs. Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Joy, Kawaii Princess, Princess Peach, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Queen. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was a contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" (which thankfully for The ONE, she was eliminated from early on) and performed in a stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only “Avenger” (see below) to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows in 2021 and was officially named Momometal and made a permanent member in April 2023. She deserves the spot! Fun Fact: Momoko's father is a popular comedian in Japan known for making dead-pan jokes. Momoko worked very hard to make her way without using his name as a crutch. BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) some of which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui's departure. Now that Momometal is a member, we are hoping for more BBM songs with MoMoa! But only the Fox God knows. AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They were not official members did not have microphones and were not even named. It was the fans who quickly figured out who they were and you will see them in live performances between 2018 and 2021. They were: Momoko Okazaki (see above). Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the JPop Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist. Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin and like Yui, was considered arguably the best dancer in SG during her time there. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates (Kano, Momo, Soyo and Gumi). Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel, likely due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and the then developing @onefive. We are #notacult. Kitsune Da O! 🤘🦊🤘
Thanks for all the fun facts! Love that and it gives me a perspective into who they are and what they enjoy! Appreciate you swinging by the channel! 🤘🏻

You definitely need to check out their videos with the kami band intros, they really showcase the band. And if you like drums, you will be amazed with pretty much all of Babymetal's songs, just pick any one. Distortion, Starlight, Headbanger, and Yava are a few of my favs..
A fully armed and operational Babymetal is a sight to behold all right. You've noticed Su-metal's singing ability and the amazing skill of the Kami band, but another strength is the incredible excellence across their whole discography. I'd recommend at least half their songs as killer immediately, and all of the rest are solid at worst; no filler on any of their albums. The choreography is excellent too, and is what sets them apart from other top-notch metal bands for me. I love Judas Priest and Metallica, but they lack Babymetal's visuals. I'd recommend Headbanger at Legend 1997 where Su celebrated her 16th birthday, BMC live at Budokan 2021 to see Su spit some bars, Megitsune either the MV or at Red Fox festival 2017, Monochrome at Pia Arena 2023, or..., the list is very long 😎 Live Babymetal is the best Babymetal. Welcome to the Foxhole, you're gonna love it.
@@setonhillstudios They only have one song that I always skip (No Rain, No Rainbow), yet many others love it because it's a slow ballad where.Su shows another side to her vocal talent; it's just not my thing. Great reaction BTW, I look forward to more.
None of the Dragonforce guys have any writing credit to be clear, though they clearly inspired the songwriters and recorded the guitars for the album version of the song.
An interview "Have you heard of BABYMETAL?" ... Slash "yeah they are blah blah cool".. Interview continues "Would you play with them?" Slash .. "Oh yeah" .. BABYMETAL opens for Guns n Roses on Tour of Japan a few years later... Toured with Korn and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Did some tunes with Rob Halford etc ..
Welcome to the World of Kawaii Metal. I bought their first five concerts on LE Bluray and every one is just insane to watch. Their fan base is one of the most dedicated and involved out there, and make the experience almost otherworldly. Someone else has probably said it already but this particular song sounds like dragonforce because it pretty much is. It was co-written with some of the dragonforce guys hence the familiar sound. You should definitely check out some of their newer stuff because it’s very different to this, still slaps though 👍
Saw them love here in germany and i will go anytime again i get the chance to. Love all, Su`s vocals, the dancing, the band, the energy, they were the best live band ive ever seen personally :) Oh and that feeling of hearing Dragonforce in there might be becuase they co-wrote the song :D You can literally listen to any song and you will not be dissapointed :) I would suggest: Gimme chocolate, Kagerou, BxMxC, Rondo of nightmare
If you think they look innocent now, you should see the first two music videos they put out (Dokidoki Morning and iine). The girls were, like, 14, 12, and 12 at the time, IIRC, and being Japanese, they looked even younger to Western eyes. And then the metal starts playing, and they start doing metal screams, and rapping, and whatnot... The combination of metal with kids' j-pop was pretty new at the time, and a fair few people thought their heads were going to explode from the contrast.
I think they are in their early 20s. The start of the lead singer was 14, and the other two were 12. Now 26 and the other two 24. But the one girl on the left had to quit the band because of health issues. And the new member is 20 years old

The crowd energy was through the roof!!! How long has Babymetal been around?!? 🤘🏻 👇🏻
14 years, 2010, the main singer just had her 26th birthday, and this particular performance was in 2015.
@@regaubade8329 Gotcha! Appreciate it!
you asked about their ages, they started when the lead singer (Sumetal) was 14 and the backup singers (Moametal and Yuimetal) were 13, they are now in their mid 20's.
@@Filboid2000 Sounds good 👍🏻 You can do whatever you like with your money
You were right about the Dragonforce sound. Much of the song was written by the manager and other musicians behind most of the Babymetal songs. But the guitar riffs were co-written by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce. They also performed on the album.
So cool! Thanks for watching!
No, they didn't, search on TH-cam "Herman Li of Dragonforce talks about Babymetal". The only thing Dragonforce did was playing the guitar parts for the album, not writing it.
@@mr_ozio They didn't simply play it. They also didn't write it. They most likely made the guitar arrangments
Haha 🤣😂 That’s wild when you put it like that! I don’t think I could go back to school! Might be done with it after that! 😎
Ever since I found Babymetal the best part has been watching people's reactions.
Babymetal convinced me that only teen girls can be "true metalheads". They're the only ones with that much energy and bounce.
True!
They define themselves as a fusion of "kawaii" (cute) and metal and they are very diverse musically since they don't hesitate on mixing any music genre with metal (any sub-genre). So always expect the unexpected and prepare to be surprised (in a good way).
I'd like to suggest you to check out their newer songs: "Divine Attack", "mirror Mirror", "MAYA", "Monochrome", etc. (ideally live).
Until next time!

I saw them live last year and it was awesome! They also legitimately did have a wall of death in their mosh pit during one song.
They are:
*SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26.
About this song:
Just like here it was the ender for the show in the recent World Tour 2023, and everyone loved to have fun with this one.
They are:
- Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums.
Next suggestion;
- Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014.
I'm gonna try to leave in my next comment where to get safe clips to react if YT allows me to do it.

(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
They were at Louder than Life?!? So cool! Wish I would have known about them then! Thanks for all the info and swinging by! We appreciate it so much! 🤘🏻

Pretty much a master class in audience control.
You ain’t lying! That was a masterclass for sure! Thanks for all the info!
It's still anthemic even after all these years! Their shows are spectacular - I saw them live for the first time in 23, and at the end I was torn between wanting more and amazement that they'd kept up the energy for as long as they had. Smart reaction, ta!
Thanks so much! So cool you got to witness them live! Must have been epic! Thanks for stopping by! 🤘🏻
@@setonhillstudios They co-headlined a US tour last year with Dethklok. I saw them in Philly and it might have been the best concert I've ever been to.

I’ve been loving discovering all these bands! They are rocking! Can’t wait to hear more! Thanks!
I appreciate that so much! I loved hearing them! Killer show with crazy energy! Can’t wait to hear more! Thanks for stopping by! 🤘🏻

Thanks so much, appreciate the info!

BTW I am 62
So cool to see all those generations and walks of life coming together for the love of music! 🤘
I don't know, I'll shut up with throwing out random facts LOL

So cool!
Welcome to Babymetal! I’m sure you’ve gotten tons of info already, so I apologize for repeat info:
*1:20** - The girls and the band*
Officially, Babymetal is just the 3 gals, but the session musicians of the Kami Band has been playing live for them since 2012, fully since 2014. Same core guys, until passing of guitarist Mikio Fujioka in Jan 2018, and 2019’s addition of Kami Band West to assist with increased touring. So they are very much “Babymetal”, even if unofficially.
*4:07** - Dragonforce?*
Yep! Herman Li and Sam Tottman of Dragonforce co-wrote the guitars.
*5:38** - Pop band and metal music*
This is exactly what Babymetal is going for - fusion of J-Pop and Heavy Metal, thus starting their own genre of Kawaii Metal (cute metal).
*7:17** - Leading the crowd*
Babymetal is 100% a live performance act and crowd engagements are their specialty!
*8:48** - How many people?*
~20K sold out show in Jan 2015, Tokyo.
*10:20** - Choreography*
Mikiko Mizuno is the choreographer, and she consulted on 2016 Summer Olympics too!
*13:12** - How old are they?*
At the time of this performance (Jan 2015), lead Su-metal just turned 17 and her “Lieutenants” 😂, Yui and Moa are 15. They started Babymetal in 2010 at the age of 12/11.
To quote Rob Halford of Judas Priest, after performing cover of Painkiller and Breaking the Law on stage with Babymetal at the 2016 APMAs: “These monster ladies are the future of metal.”

Makes sense!! 🤣😂 Thanks for watching!

How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. .
But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one."
And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well.
They currently have 4 albums on the market:
-Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces.
Appreciate the detailed comment! So much more to discover! I’m excited to hear more!! 🤘🏻

Thanks so much! So much more for me to explore with this band! Thanks for stopping by the channel! 🔥

Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite
Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Former member since 2018: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Tomato Princess, Tomato-Kun, Kawaii Princess, Yui-bot and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul).
They were:
Momoko Okazaki (see above).

Kitsune Da O! 🤘🦊🤘
Thanks for all the fun facts! Love that and it gives me a perspective into who they are and what they enjoy! Appreciate you swinging by the channel! 🤘🏻
Saw them in fall of 2023 .. great show.
Lucky you! I bet it was sick! Thanks for commenting and swinging by the channel! 🤘🏻

Gotcha, thanks for the info! 🤘
would be awesome if u would react to Sis. Anger, thats black babymetal, its Yui-metal and Moa-metal the 2 dancers/co-singers alone, don't really see anyone react to that, and thers alot of power in that one aswell :) nice reaction..
Thanks! I’ll add em to the list! Appreciate you watching!
The band is insane, but the ladies' energy is out of this world, the dancing and then keep singing like that, loved every second of seeing them live.
I bet that was a wild show! Thanks for sharing and stopping by the channel! 🤘🏻
I recommend Headbanger live at legend !! you'll love it
Thanks so much!
No one can beat Japanese live concert discipline with badass
They’re disciplined for sure! So cool to watch!
Awesome reaction 🤘🦊🤘
Thanks so much for watching! We appreciate you stopping by the channel!
If you want to know more, i recomended Bbaymetal headbanger live legend 1997, it is the best
Thanks for the recommendation!
You definitely need to check out their videos with the kami band intros, they really showcase the band. And if you like drums, you will be amazed with pretty much all of Babymetal's songs, just pick any one.
Distortion, Starlight, Headbanger, and Yava are a few of my favs..
Kagerou mate, please react to Kagerou.....
One of the best Babymetal songs, the intro alone will melt your face off.
Thank me later. 🤘🤘
Added to the list! Thanks for the suggestion! 🤘🏻
@@setonhillstudios You're most welcome lad, trust me you'll love Kagerou.
Great vids, keep em coming! 🤘🤜
I'd recommend Headbanger at Legend 1997 where Su celebrated her 16th birthday, BMC live at Budokan 2021 to see Su spit some bars, Megitsune either the MV or at Red Fox festival 2017, Monochrome at Pia Arena 2023, or..., the list is very long 😎
Live Babymetal is the best Babymetal. Welcome to the Foxhole, you're gonna love it.
It’s tough to have no filler tunes! That’s amazing! Can’t wait to hear more from them! Thanks for swinging by the channel! 🤘🏻
Awesome, thanks for the info!
🤣😂🤣 Sounds about right! Thanks for watching!
I like how she got the crowd back on 1 to match the click in their in ears.
💯
Love babymetal! So much talent in the members & the band!!
Loved checking them out! More to come!
Welcome to the World of Kawaii Metal.
I bought their first five concerts on LE Bluray and every one is just insane to watch. Their fan base is one of the most dedicated and involved out there, and make the experience almost otherworldly.
I was sad to see Yui-Metal leave the group, and feel that they have sort of lost momentum since their early rocket to fame, but they will always be one of the most unique and entertaining groups out there.
I bet all their live performances are epic!
And that is how you close a show! Saw them in Atlanta in 2019.. What a night!!!
Great first reaction. Love seeing new reaction TH-camrs reacting to BabyMetal. Keep up the good work.
Last but not least...Welcom to The FoxHole
Thanks so much for the kind words! Appreciate you watching!

Thanks so much! 😁
I'm Japanese. Thank for your reaction.
BABYMETAL is not metal band but 'METAL DANCE UNIT'(in official).😁
I think you'll like 'Bring Me The Horizon - 'Kingslayer' ft. BABYMETAL (Live In Tokyo)' on TH-cam.😁
Thanks for the suggestion! Added to the list!!
@@setonhillstudios, save the Collab with BMTH video until you cover some/most of Jake's suggestions. That way you'll likely appreciate it more when you do it. 'Live' is best with few exceptions 'iine' (ee-nay, not Line) being one. hahaha you love that one)
Someone else has probably said it already but this particular song sounds like dragonforce because it pretty much is. It was co-written with some of the dragonforce guys hence the familiar sound. You should definitely check out some of their newer stuff because it’s very different to this, still slaps though 👍
Will do! Thanks for the suggestion! Appreciate you stopping by the channel! 🤘🏻
Welcome to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🦊🤘
Let’s goooooo!!!!
Herman Li of Dragonforce talks about Babymetal that he wrote and play babymetal song on his YT. So yeah, this song probably Herman Li play it.

Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed it! 🤘🏻
Thanks for the suggestions! I bet that was a wild concert! Appreciate you sharing!
@@setonhillstudios It was amazing, even beating Green Day, System of A Down or Tenacious D for me personally :)
YOU have to watch Band-Maid FREEDOM. As a Drummer.
Appreciate the suggestion! I’ll add it to the list! They are definitely a killer band so I’m sure it’s 🔥

They do have a couple of back up bands when they tour but this is the main kami band and the best imo
10:16 Core-eee-ahh-gra-fee. You'll need it if you keep reacting to Babymetal.
🤣😂🤣 Fair enough!
They rarely miss and the Kami band is badass. Get sucked into the wormhole
Let’s goooo! 🤘🏻
So awesome! Appreciate you stopping by the channel! 🤘🏻
I believe DragonForce wrote the song for them.
That’s what someone else was saying! Awesome! 🤘🏻
I think they are in their early 20s. The start of the lead singer was 14, and the other two were 12. Now 26 and the other two 24. But the one girl on the left had to quit the band because of health issues. And the new member is 20 years old
That’s sad to hear.

@@setonhillstudios 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻you will see that hashtag frequently, especially with older fans.
Babymetal and The One (official fan name) were accused of being a cult. That is why this # is created
A large group of closed-minded metal fans have always criticized us.
@@Fedz.no_miedo That’s a shame! Ain’t nothing wrong with being passionate about a band! 🤘🏻
@@Fedz.no_miedohell, these days with the kind of press Sleep Token gets, being called a cult is a compliment!
