@@alexb3852 I agree, it's important to remember. Really anyone can be like this, be like him. Train your relationship to struggling, be kind to yourself and anyone can learn to keep pushing, even when it gets hard. And I'd bet John agrees, otherwise why make videos about his process?
This less scripted work is really really good! I love the calculated thoughts you have but less planned sentences make it seem more realistic and honest!
100% agree. This video seems more authentic, and creates a more personable side of Fish as 20 year old, highly intelligent, easy going, college student -- with a real sense of humor. The lighter side of his personality is rarely shown in videos. This was an immensely enjoyable viewing.
Me trying to pull my life together: 'fold bed sheet' - "Oh well... I am so proud... I think I deserve a couple hours of rest now" *proceed to do nothing for the rest of the day* .... next day: "shit...."
I was sitting on the floor, staring at the wall, thinking how out of place everything is and this pops up in notifications What sort of witchcraft is this!?
I love people here. I mean, john himself and people in comment section. You all look to motivate each other, inspiring, and sometimes laugh at yourself together
John, you are great and so is your work! Please don’t ever let anybody or anything make you feel like you are not enough, because you are! Keep stretching yourself and challenging your own ability, it’s all in your hands.
i've been putting off work for two weeks now, sleep all the day and haven't gone to school because i'm so stressed out about not doing anything so i watched your video and took a note book like you said and already had a productive night ! thank you man
I've got to say, after my experience in an internship, I realized how time-consuming catching up with emails and calendar updates can be. Like, no wonder it's so stressful - it's getting in the way of the real work of the day! On that note, that's why I like your productivity videos so much. I learn something new again even if I've seen the video several times months before.
Happy that I watched this, especially the last part. I really needed to hear that to be successful you don't have to work all days and exhaust yourself ( which I'm kinda experiencing currently ). Balance is key
I literally have to do put my life together today. How fitting! haha Thank you for sharing your process. I think that sharing how we do things help us be more efficient. :)
Thank you, I really need to get everything pulled back together, spring break just started and I kind of let myself go, just partying all the time with friends
"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter-tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther…. And one fine morning- So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."
Damn, those cross-country or track and field numbers you have hanged up just brings back memories from high school! And I have just recently graduated too...
Dude, this entire summer has been a mesh of unnecessary heat and being in a foggy place mind wise and this video helped me kind of see where I need to focus and fix things. Thanks for the upload!
This was one of my favorite videos of yours. It was practical and inspirational, but it was the editing style that really did it for me. It was punchy, fun, and to the point.
maybe you should start a "pull your Life Together" challenge with everyone else here on this platform for idk 60 days or something... Just a suggestion... btw love ur vid! very inspiring :)
Yassss!!! This is the perfect video John! Thank you for breaking down the growth book section by section. It’s nice to know you actually are human and have some “off” days like the rest of us! Excited for your future friend.
woah.....this was a really fun video! Had a lot of laughs. And also good to know that you have chaos sometimes too, just like the rest of us, #relatable!
don't know whether John will see this but just some questions : - If you exceed the time in which you have to finish a task, do you stop what you're doing entirely or eat into the time for the next task ? - How do you know how long a task might take ?
Not John Fish but as far as I am concerned I realized it was all about repetition. As long as you set up your schedule regularly you'll be able to find out how much time each activites require. It does not have to be rigid or very precise but you need to know how much time on average you'll need to spend on these activites in order to fulfill your goals.
I love how you're like just an incredible role model. You never try to be this "motivation speaker" or try to be productive af and tell the others they have to be the most productive people ever otherwise they're not successful or something. You share your real days, real problems, real things you have to do in a day. I recently started programming and you're one of the people who inspired me to start doing that. I didn't know whereto start from, what to do but just a couple of hours of research helped me and know now what to start with at least. Also one question, the thing is that i've never ordered anything from Amazon, is that possible to order your book to other countries/continents (russia)? Thanks!
Everything you say and plan is right. I am often listening to speeches or debates and suddenly get a burts of inspiration and motivation but the real challenge is to make it last. EDIT: And thanks for addressing the misconception that Harvard students have “perfect” routines and schedules. Everyone had shortcomings and lazy days but it is possible to improve, as we can’t achieve and attain perfection, but if we try, we can master a few aspects.
You've made great impacts on me recently (I'm also an incoming junior). Your channel is one of a few that I feel it's worth spending my time on. Keep up your great work! Lots of thanks
I like this episode. Emails are such time stealers for me. They demand high-speed conversation via a much slower process that involves proofreading; since it's all being written down, what you write does matter. I just blame the fact that we all get too many of them when there's only 24 hours in a day. So it's the anticipation of losing time. I sometimes get your productivity rubbed off on me for the day of my own, so thanks!
what do you do when you did things out of schedule? for example, you have lunch at 11:30 to 12, and what do you do when you still hasn't finished lunch till 12? and also, how do you take a rest ? sometimes you might get sick, or may get sick of keeping the schedules all the sudden. I am asking this question because i am pretty much doing the same thing as what you do in Korea, and i am now facing those problems right now so.. i want to know how you deal with those problems. ps. your videos are very inspiring which motivates me a lot. thank you for that.
Me: so inspired by John’s videos John: So I was watching an inspiring video on TH-cam, I don’t know, do any of you ever do that? Me: Oop, I’ve been called out more than once in this video!
Absolutely loved this video bro! Keep it up. People are saying this "style" of video is different, and maybe it is, but I just like it regardless! Scripted or non-scripted, your channel is AMAZING John!
Sometimes is hard for me to comeback from disorder, but I just keep going until things become natural again and I literally forget that one day I was disordered...
John, I love the idea of a growth book. However, I feel like you would achieve to reach more people by creating an app. One that has a good method to help you achieve your goals!
Could I just ask where you for your computer chair from? Keep up the amazing videos John, you always succeed to light a fire under me to be productive! Thank you!

I’ve implemented this to study for finals and its been really working wonders for me. Thanks John!!
Seeing someone talk about the struggles that I face is kind of reassuring. Keeps me going

This video is 1.5 years old, but it's still SO GOOD! I love your videos, John!!! Amazing!!!!
I wish is was this organized. My days have always been a blob and I’ve always been lazy.
