I am 59, ADHD, and have experienced significant losses that have led me to serious long-term clinical depression. I withdrew from living and couldn't see the point in continuing. I am on the other side now and slowly pulling myself out, deciding what I want to do with the rest of my life. I have journaled on and off over the years but more like a diary format. I am learning about bullet journaling and by chance happened upon a video you made about handwriting. That led me to your journaling videos and am very intrigued by how methodical and strategic your methods are. As a former Montessori teacher, I love the beauty, organization, and "doability" of your journaling format. And as a currently unemployed person, I am hoping to win one of your giveaway prizes. 😁

I am ADHD too. Just so you known"regular person" or normal journals won't work for us neuro divergents. But don't get discouraged. Try designing your own journal just like she did, on a computer. Instead of Yearly goals focus on your own ADHD deficits. For instance what are you avoiding? Other ADHD deficits that apply to you. Then I suggest you buy more ADHD specific books (I am currently writing one but of course it's taking me forever to finish 😅). I wish you best of luck

Me during some of your segments: yes, yes, yes!. I started journaling recently and unwittingly have incorporated many of. your prompts (prayer, gratitude, truth, reflection etc.,) in a very unstructured way. Your video has been so helpful in providing ideas for a more structured layout so I'm not feeling like I'm recreating the wheel every day. Thank you for your generosity in sharing the prompts page. . I echo the sentiments of others regarding interest in buying some of your other layouts!

Be brave to suck at things that you're learning new... That's so true. This was why I couldn't learn something new. Thank you for the detailed explanation.

    • @FlourishedHope
      @FlourishedHope  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

I think it's natural for all of us to have a difficult time admitting that we 'suck' at something. It hurts our self-esteem and pride. But as soon as we face the truth and believe we won't 'suck' in the near future, we can move forward. Sucking is a natural process in the beginning and it does NOT have to be permanent.

I taught my kids while they were growing up how important it was to stick with things so that you can get those awesome feelings at th end when you’ve successfully completed them. Because remembering those feelings are what will help to carry/propel you forward in you next challenge. If you don’t complete things then you will always feel lik a failure. I learned this from a close relative who does not challenge themselves and consequently does not feel confident enough to take _ anything _ on.

You explanation for meaning of pebble is very insteresting. To me pebble would signify this: What was most significant experience you had today? Here is reason why i see it this way. Every day we experience so many things and throughout the day there is always one that could inluence events that come after in way that you may find it unsettling because none of us like sudden changes so to make it simple one event for expamle can wreck your schedule prompting you to make sudden changes to your plans for the day by either rescheduling plans with lowest priority for say tommorow or worst case scenario you end up canceling plans for the rest of the day.

I have been journaling for many years, primarily for memory keeping. In the last 2 years it has evolved into a necessary daily reflective practice. I’ve learned so much more about myself and my place in this world as a result. Your format resonated with me so much that I’m going to try it . I really love that there’s a beautiful ratio of planning to journaling, that it utilizes a signifier I already use (“O”), and although somewhat structured, is truly customizable! Your explanation was so clear and enjoyable to observe plus it makes so much sense to my brain.TFS!

another approach for the daily reflexion is "the hand" >> every digit stands for a certain part
thumb >> the good things / index >> learned / middle >> the bad things / ring >> emotion / pinkie >> short commings
the "prayer part" gets for me visible in every part ... I don't have a prayer of the day ... but it's an intriguing thought

After watching this video, I am starting to realize that I have not really journaled. Essentially, I've docmented my daily experiences. Since I am using a goal planner, I've started habit tracking and writing a daily gratitude, but not to this extent. I archive my planners and diaries and when I read back, I see that I still have the same "goals" and they seem to never be achieved. This can be frustrating. I love systems and this seems like something that I could do. Thank you for taking the time to share your process in a very clear way.

Really helpful. Thank you so much.
I've been using a Franklin Covey paper planner for decades, but your system is so much more comprehensive and, well, denser in content. Love your habit tracker. I am up to about ten standard entries in my day planner (read Bible, exercise, study Korean-- things that I want to routinize). Your system would allow me to track a much richer environment of habits in one page per month.

I have downloaded the prompts, and hope that you will re-release the templates again soon. I did not achieve what I saw others doing, so I stopped. This has been an excuse for not sticking to the important self-reflection, discovery, and finding out where my blocks are/were. Thank so much for the tips on how to make a journal. I have tried journalling several times but my penmanship was too bad that it's painful to read what I wrote, I also don't have a system and just write everything that happens everyday. I like your journalling system and it encouraged me to try again. A good pen does make a big difference. My penmanship isn't perfect but it's now legible. I just started journalling today and i can already feel some improvement. The journal is motivating me to do the habits that I've written in the montly habbits page.

I realise now that I became more interested in the structure or the aesthetics of the pages than actually writing. I strarted journaling in my crisis period to get my positive habits back . At that time, I was going through depression and I was in other country, far from my family and friends. that was insightful ... thank you ... the aim of journaling is "transformation"
you created a visual way of setting intentions (yearly goals)
tracked progress / position with monthly tracker and daily entries of reflections
    reflections from using prompts
its a very structured and organised way of making intentions concrete ... clever
i like it (though i don't journal this way)... to me its like what i called "GPS principle" of goals
you set a destination (yearly goal)
    you fix your current location
    determine a route
then mark on the map where you are as you progress (monthly tracker)
    re-route if there's a detour / obstacle / distraction (daily prompts)
i do journaling more as notes ... i just start writing on a particular though or mood
whatever comes to the top of the mind, top of the "Boil" so to speak ....
and that starts me thinking/expressing and some times it leads to insights i didn't know i knew ...
i use it as way to reveal more of myself ... making sense of (chaos of) life
i think i will work more to add structure on my separate (work/daily) journal after watching your system
i know that the bullet journal was designed because ryder caroll had an ADDH problem (i think i have the same issues)
he wanted an "intentional" system to keep him on track
(i never got into it cos i thot it was just a fancy coded checklist system)
but you've introduced this "transformation" idea, to use journaling as more than just a note-taking-making tool
structure it so that it aids in "transforming" ... there is a purpose in those marks-making
thank you again for that insight ...
    .

It was truly fascinating to read about your journaling principles, approach, and journey. Thank you so much for sharing! It’s amazing how, even after journaling for a long time, there’s still room to inspire and grow together. I love the visual analogy of your GPS system. One thing I’ve come to realize is that reviewing past journal entries is one of the greatest benefits of journaling. Personally, I find that having an organized visual system makes it easier to look back and relearn what I’ve written. I hope you found helpful tips in the video and continue to enjoy throughout your journaling journey as well! ✍️❤️‍🔥

Hello, the algorithm put me here :-). I enjoyed your takes on journaling and I think I want to incorporate the pebble and the truth prompts. I bullet journal since january 2018 and my style evolved a lot since then, also in an aesthetic way. What I write down each day are things that I am proud of having done (or not done) and how I felt about how much effort I had to put in for my mental wellbeing that day and if the efforts succeeded (scale -3 to 3).

@@FlourishedHope Absutely! My latest venture has been a sleep journal, as I move toward healing a lifelong issue with insomnia. Working with issues that are trauma related, I find that Incorporating elements of art journaling onto my pages is very healing for me , but I also need some structure to track new practices like sleep hygeine. Your ideas have opened up a whole world of possibilities for me. Can't wait to try out this new playground!

If you're interested, I have a detailed video on assembling these acrylic cases on my Instagram. Please consider checking it out-it may give you more details on how the case works and looks.

Wonderful video. Thank you for sharing 🙏
The use of planning, journalling and reflection for transformation is so important (and a reminder not to get caught up in developing the "perfect system at the expense of getting started and developing over time based on what's helpful).
After many of years of using and exploring various approaches, I found that the approach that works best for me (may change) is as follows, many of which are similar to what you've described (and I got great ideas from your video:)
    1) I have "pillars" such as relationships, material (inc finance), development... I explore what I want to be different in, for example, a year's time, and setting goals. Whilst I use "measures of success" in my professional life, I haven't used as much more broadly - something which I'll review.
    2) I use digital mind mapping tools for these pillars and goals as it allows me to see the whole picture and drill down into more detail.
The cloud based mind mapping tool (Simplemind) synchronises over tablet, phone and laptop-so I can use any of those and be upto date.
I like your approach of seeing a summary of longterm aims every day.
    3) I use handwriting for journalling in the morning (and sometimes in the evening. More regular in regular journalling in the evening would be helpful for me). I came across "Nu Mindfulness journal" notebooks which meet my needs very well (the date field is blank) and I like its mixture of planning and reflective headings. I did try digital journalling using the app Diarium. It worked nicely because I could make my own template and it was with me I my phone and accessible, and synchronised, on my tablet. I could also include a photo taken on my phone. However, whilst I do use this still, I found that handwriting was more expressive and reflective (more like your self) and the physical act of writing reached deeper.
    4) I use a habit app on my phone and watch (streaks on iOS, Habitnow on android). It gives me a handy opportunity to reflect on my thoughts, speech and choices-skilful and unskilful. Something to bring into more regular evening journalling (I liked your prompts).
I do use a large blank notebook and tools like OneNote for longer pieces of writing, for example reflecting on ethical precepts and things to stop, start, increase, decrease etc.

I love journals and struggle to journal consistently and I think your reasons for using a binder and pages solve many of the challenges I have had with blank pages to organize and missed days of a predated journal. Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I love your channel. I would like to start back journaling because you're 5 part Journaling system has inspired me. I love the format of it and also I am old school so I love to write things down. It is very therapeutic and I can also go back anytime. I want to look at what I wrote instead of having it in my phone, like most people of this generation Do anything can happen to your phone at any time, But when you write it down you can have it forever. I would Absolutely love if you would consider me as one of the people that will receive a journal from you. Thank you 💕

My hope for journaling is to improve my ability to help others by practicing mindfulness and reflective journaling is key to that; I've just started regularly gratitude journaling but that's the tip of the iceberg, I'm learning. I'm a healthcare provider and my goal is to happily serve my patients mindfully everyday into my 70's and 80's and encourage students to stick with it and love what they're learning--I'm not looking to climb the heathcare leadership ladder 😂😂. I also want to grow as a musician and I think focused practice towards a goal of learning a set of songs and improving as an ensemble performer.
