@@romainbornes22 , I'm not sure about that. Anybody can make improvements on how they play this through lots of practice and dedication. But, I'm not sure if anyone can learn to master it and play it fabulously. I may be wrong though. I've tried to play this piece for years and still can't get it played without many slips and errors. Maybe it's because I don't have the coordination to play it past a slow pace without alot of slipping. Me trying to play some parts of Mazeppa feels like me trying to jump from a tight rope to another tight rope with my eyes closed, and that's after me trying for years. You're probably right actually, most people with normal coordination can master this piece with enough practice. I just can't do it because I have poor coordination
Liszt actually prided himself on composing piano music that was extremely technically difficult to play. It and he as the performer especially impressed the women from what I've read😊. This piece is among his most difficult. The orchestral arrangement is also pretty spectacular.
Very well played: technically strong and accurate, and yet with feeling and dynamic range. I also like the way it is filmed -- clear, good framing, with a few varied shots but without silly gimmicks and excessive closeups. What a great piece!
@@EmmanuelDespax honestly, the tempo choice, your deliberate ritardandos, it really sets you apart from many other pianists who tend to rush the piece instead of taking the time to enjoy Lizst's multi-tonal creation. Your performance here reminds me of a young Rachmaninoff playing his Prelude in G Minor. Really, very well done. You captured his melancholy and flair for the dramatic and like I said, it's the first time I can hear Liszt's pain and pleasure through a performance. It really moved me and thank you for that.
Why are there hates?!?!?!?!?!?!? This piece is very difficult, I could take years to learn this why are people so hateful this piece makes me cry that’s how good it is.
Because this is a very talented piano player who's also worked very hard at mastering the techniques and feelings of the piece, has great hand/eye coordination, and has put great passion into it
Haha that's like saying "Chuck Norris is better than you at fighting" or "Michael Phelps is better than you at swimming," rather than taking it as an insult I would be honored to be compared to someone chilling at those skill-levels.
amazing he plays it better then I do... I play Chopin's transcendental etude ballade num 1 op 23, etude op 10 num 4 and Rachmaninoff's pain concerto 18 op 2 first movement
Too much pedal! Liszten to Cziffra. Sparce use of the pedal. Cziffra owns this piece! No one but no one compares to his. It would be wise for these young bucks to listen and learn.
Well played but then he seems too over dramatic at times and then he looks really awkward in the face, like he is trying too hard and trying to bring emotion into it rather than letting it flow. It doesn't seem natural like the greats,
Wow ! Favorite version of Mazeppa. Accurate, great tempo, doesn't rush the beginning, uses Liszt's 4-2 2-4 original fingering. Perfect !
What do you mean by that
En Dimos You use your index and ring finger to play the thirds
I think so.
Dear Anthonia-san, I agree with your comment upon this great music with FAZIOLI, so perfect 🎹.
I thought the 4-2 2-4 fingering was the only possible fingering
This piece is possible. It's frequently performed by pianists live. This is the best recorded version that you'll find footage of however.
Define "frequently" :')
The frequency of world extinction events
2:48 right hand OK gesture: alright no mistakes yet 😂
So this is possible............
I saw this on Sheet music and was like:"That can't be possible".
How?
Yeah, truly amazing
It's called practice
I honestly believe any human being without any major motor disability can achieve this.
Ikr I had the same thought

lol I saw the sheet music for this first and I was like "I'd be damned if humans could actually play this"
look at s138 it looks and is way harder

My favorite rendition, hands down.
Your tempo of finger no. 2424 is amazing!! Very respect!!!!
What a wonderful performance which holds Listz's soul and philosophy. Very adorable.
I can't believe this guy, I think he's the only guy who knows how to play this live, he is amazing!!!!
Joanna Abou Khazaa actually valentina listisa played it live to
@@skylermccloud78 she plays Mazeppa?
I'm at Juilliard everyone plays this tbh - playing it well is a different story lol
The best version I've heard. Fantastic!
Thank you 😊
My favorite version of Mazeppa
perfectly played ! thanks
Brilliant interpretation of this etude. Excellent performance. This is a difficult piece to play, but definitely possible.
Amazing performance, with dynamic control, gorgeous tonal quality and color, dramatic and exciting with passionate expression!!! Bravissima!!!!
he´s gorgeous! Love that Version of Mazeppa!!
By far the best tempo chosen so far!!
Bravo - you are ready for the 1836 version! You're on my liszten liszt .
Very well played: technically strong and accurate, and yet with feeling and dynamic range. I also like the way it is filmed -- clear, good framing, with a few varied shots but without silly gimmicks and excessive closeups. What a great piece!
Perfeito! Parabéns!
Bravo! A true musician! Congratulations Mr. Despax.
Really like the tempo and expression. Bravo!
that was phenomenal what a performance!! bravo!
This does not deserve all the dislikes it has
Exceptional player and incredibly handsome.
First performance of this piece to move me to tears. Well done.
Thank you so much. I’m very touched. It is an amazing work.

Great performance both technically and musically.
Ovchinnikov's and this interpretation are my favorites great playing.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

Never play this music, but I am feeling so impressive, like this version ever, he could play notes clearly, love Liszt music style.
Bravo impressionnant
You put a lot of feeling in your music!
WOW!
very well played. it is amazing.
Fazioli is superb!
It's worthy of Mr Despax.
pppppperfect!!

I couldn't hear any mistakes 😮 he played like that and no mistakes 😮
That’s what happens when you practice

Muy buena versión ;) Bravo
This piece is childs play
Best interpretation ive ever heard also Fazioli > Steinway and Yamaha ,bass much bassier and virbant, throaty
Thank you!
(softly) whattt thefff
Try his Mussorgsky Pictures for size!
Why ignoring the Istesso tempo in the middle part ?
What does that mean
He flashed a 666 with his hand! Could he be summoning demonic energy to play this piece? You decide!
@aurilegulus :D :D :D
ppppshhh hold my beer..
This angle doesn't do the difficulty of this piece justice
@6:50, the only part I am able to play... :-)
best
I actually really like his energy. Liszt kind of needs a bit of aggressiveness.
Swag onwards, man... :D
FAZIOLI~~ Is that the longest piano in the world ?? (308cm)
Haha that's like saying "Chuck Norris is better than you at fighting" or "Michael Phelps is better than you at swimming," rather than taking it as an insult I would be honored to be compared to someone chilling at those skill-levels.
How long would something like this take to learn, even for the virtuoso?
Brian Randall depends on your experience on piano and also how much you practice a day
I would say 20 years if you start early and you have great talent.
amazing he plays it better then I do... I play Chopin's transcendental etude ballade num 1 op 23, etude op 10 num 4 and Rachmaninoff's pain concerto 18 op 2 first movement
Who???
not bad listen to my version
...haters gonna hate... :P
But can you play chopsticks?
This song gave me a hand injury…
