    0-60 doesn’t break this at all. This is more than enough power to have fun and enjoy this truck. When people get stuck on 0-60, it is mainly because they are comparing to other vehicles which it doesn’t mean faster is better because that isn’t a true fact.

      Still, not apples to apples, you have to run the TRX in the same location and the same temperature conditions. Now with all that said it's time for your show to start setting up these trucks with the same off road tires with like speaks so we can see who is best on road, mud, sand, rocks, gas mileage, tow and snow. I believe the only changes you would need to make are tires, close gearing and ride height. If you put ten to fifteen videos together showing these trucks in sand, mud, road, towing, rocks, milage and snow views like myself will be glued to your videos and most likely they will become most viewed... Nice video. My exhaust opinion is that I didn't feel like the issue with the 2nd gen Raptor was lack of volume. What I don't like about it is the V6 naturally sounds like a V6. The new exhaust only allows you to select how far away people can hear that. Personally I'd probably drive it in quite mode most of the time. For some reason it really bothers me when I hear a loud V6 accelerating hard and turn around to see which performance import car it is only to see it's actually a full size truck. But that's a me problem. I'd still love to have any gen Raptor because they are suck awesome and good looking trucks.

      A new 6.7 F250 is around 7.2 for 0-60. Not sure in this elevation or heat.
      As it does state a 2020 Raptor would be 5.3 seconds. I have an 2021 F350 (6.7) and it definitely meets around that 7-8, 0-60 times out here in Vegas.

    • @VAF84
      @VAF84 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Salty Floridian , That’s awesome! Honestly, I’d be happy with anything in the 5-6 second range (sea level). @Joe Fairfield I’ve got a 2017 F250 6.7. Supposedly they run mid 6’s, and it feels quick enough except Ford restricts the take off way too much, and the turbo lag is there. The 0-60 leaves something to be desired, but 50-96 (limiter) mph it pulls hard. I did test drive the 2020 10spd and it was very nice; it felt quicker than mine. I’m currently comparing Raptor to TRX for my needs, but I can’t get passed the TRX’s dismal mpg which I’d Iike to be closer to 15. More importantly, Ford has Copilot for long trips, a nicer interior (IMO), and the keypad which I use a lot. I’d do another F250, but want something faster/sportier and more comfortable to daily drive, that can still tow comfortably on long trips. The Raptor and the TRX are as close as you can get without getting into a 3/4 ton.

    • @joe2bear
      @joe2bear 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VAF84 To be honest, a TRX or Raptor are not going to be great at towing. Maybe a small boat. Not sure, but a 3/4 ton will pull much more. Maybe a upgraded f150 with the max tow package will suite your needs better. They come with the same motor/trans. My sister has a 2021 and it is pretty quick. Just really depends on what you want to pull, is going to be your deciding factor.
      As for the 2021 6.7. I don't have that lag and doesn't have that dead lag when going from a dead stop or rolling stop. I had a 2017 F250 and know what you are talking about. But that truck was really quick when some boost was going, but definitely had a lag if you put your foot into it from a dead stop. I actually think that the 2017 might be quicker than the 2021, just because of how many gears the 2021 has. I tested my 2021 on the same ramp as my 2017 and it feels like the 2021 is missing so umph due to de-fueling between gears. Of course, if you push the sport mode (Traction control button for 3 seconds) it does seem to eliminate that.

    • @VAF84
      @VAF84 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@joe2bear Thanks for sharing your experience with the new 6.7l, good to know! When I purchased the F250 I was still towing a fifth wheel around to my projects. I had a 43ft, 15k # trailer. My circumstances have changed, and now I have a 20ft enclosed trailer that I tow our belongings, and my sports car, with every 9 months or so. It just recently dawned on me that I didn’t “need” a 3/4 ton and I could buy something more fun and comfortable. My last move required two back to back round trips totaling 2,452 miles, which I’ll have to do again in February. So the 3/4 is definitely the best for that. However, once I’m there I’m at my destination, I’m driving the 3/4 everywhere and I’m starting to get tired of it. I drive it like a sports car, and that takes quite a bit of work on that type of truck. Looking for a smaller footprint, more responsive acceleration, better turn in, less bouncy ride with equally bad (I get 13ish mpg) or better mpg. I like that the Raptor also now has rear coil instead of leaf suspension, I’m assuming it will make for a smoother ride. Also, both the Raptor/TRX are wider (more stable), overbuilt (reliable/longevity), and weigh nearly as much as a 3/4 (stability). Anyway, as you’ve alluded to, the good thing is we have plenty of options.

  • @jamesgreen5560
    @jamesgreen5560 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Makes sense that Baja mode would be slower. You want wheelspin in sand but you really need sustained wheelspin and the ability to modulate it *after* the truck is moving. From a traction management perspective, instant-on power delivery that breaks the wheels loose before generating much momentum is a recipe for digging down into sand and getting stuck. So it seems like Ford tuned the throttle response to spool up the engine progressively in lower RPMs to get the Raptor moving from a standstill. It even sounds like it in the video.
    This is not a new thing. This may seem like a tangent but stay with me on this. One of the reasons Ducati was so dominant in the 1990s over the Japanese inline fours was its ability to lay down tractable power and keep the rear wheel from breaking loose coming out of a turn. That was the real advantage of the 90 degree V-Twin superbikes, not necessarily torque. The Ducati had a 270-450 firing order. That means the first piston would fire and the second would fire 270 degrees of crank angle later. After the second piston fires, the engine would "coast" 450 degrees of crank angle before the first piston fires again. The result was a slower revving engine that used the "coast" of the engine to allow the drive wheel to stay "hooked up" and deliver every power pulse to the ground instead of wasting it on wheelspin the way the faster revving Japanese fours tended to do. It made riding the Ducati much easier. Ford appears to be expressing the same traction philosophy, albeit through some electronic drive mode wizardry. It's giving a gentler power delivery at lower RPMs that seems intended to manage wheelspin in situations where the Raptor does not yet have the benefit of momentum in the sand to find the sweet spot in the power to traction ratio.
