I don’t want fan service: I want a good game with a good story. Plain and simple.
Pretty sure they're making these games for little kids. Main character+cute mascot Disney formula, pretty enough that kids who just want laser fights with braindead AI that let them feel epic will be entertained until the next spoon of slop.
@@Riettofacts, I think if this game was rated M, and had a real villain like Prince Xizor this would’ve been crazy. With visceral Red Dead type combat, and let’s be honest she should be shanking tf out of people with a vibroblade in those stealth sections 😂

@@DuggyDarko Yup, Even when George Lucas says this himself the "Adults" tell him, he is wrong. I am fairly sure 90% of the star wars fanbase first experienced star wars as a child and they forget that.

Finally a genuine review and from a trusted creator, feel like in my current error of playing very little due to family/work commitments that make me play 1 title at a time for the most part I will almost certainly be playing Space Marine 2 instead. It's shite the graphics are on level with gta4 the enemies AI is a joke
The game is so simplified and streamlined to the point that it feels like a mobile game directed towards younger children.
Im about 8 hours in and im enjoying it. Its a great mid tier game. Picked up a month of Ubisoft+ Premium for £15 and will try and finish it in a week before SM2 drops. I feel like alot of the online hate for this game is coming from people's dislike for Ubisoft. Its very unfair as the game itself is actually solid. Its as good as Jedi Survivor imo.

@@amitansurkar1769 hard to say as I haven't finished it but my overall initial impression are it's a 7 or an 8 out of 10. It's all subjective tho. Point is I'm really enjoying it.
@@DuggyDarko while playing a game, I don't care about, if it has good water physics, or how the ai is and shit, I just care about how fun the game can give me, if it's fun, I'm game... If you look at witcher 3, it's 10 on 10 rated, but it has so many bugs glitches, bad physics, if it came out now, it'd be rated 8 on 10

Looks fun enough and its nice to have an open world Stars Wars game that doesnt focus on a Jedi.
Being from the creators of The Division, the stealth being bad isn't surprising, but the gunplay not being great is. I'm still on the fence about this game, despite originally being very excited for it.
I've been playing it and I think the gunplay is actually pretty fun. The stealth does get annoying at times, but once you learn how to use Nix to your advantage, you can get into some cool stealthy take down situations. I was originally on the fence about the game, but I pre ordered it and got early access. I started playing it yesterday and honestly I've been pretty pleased so far. I've also gotten into cool unscripted situations that put a big smile on my face. Also I am not one of the guys gushing over everything star wars, I have been critical of the new stuff for a while now. It's nice to finally enjoy something Star Wars again. But of course your opinion is yours
I am surprised on how much I liked this game. The level and world design was master class.
Bring back Jedi Knight and Rogue Squadron. This isn't a game, it's work

I've been playing it since yesterday and I really like it. Most people are nitpicking this game to death before even playing it. Give it a go, it will surprise you.

@@insomniaddictesp maybe that's why I'm enjoying it? I'm not a super fan. I like Star wars but I'm not overly attached to it. I wasn't expecting this game to be the second coming so my expectations weren't unachievable.
@@DuggyDarko for someone who played The Division 2 like me this game is kinda meh. They made this game in top of Div2 engine. You can even tell by the game mechanics

Crimson Dawn has played a big part in the comics in the past couple years so it’s cool to see them used in a major game.

The game world and design seems perfect. The clunky gun play and forced stealth is a hell no. Nix also looks like she moves a little slow or something which drives me crazy in games.
Perhaps the forced betrayal part will be patched. I will still try it and play the game. WuKong for when I wanna get sweaty and this for when I wanna chill.

As an oldie gamer this made me happy to see that the title came out to be pretty decent. It's been a while since a Star Wars themed game with mixed flavors from Dark Forces/Bounty Hunter (N64) & even the movies like Rogue One or Solo SW Story...

@@ndwknss for me it's decent even if it's simple. If you don't like it hey don't buy it unless you have the freedom of your financial wallet which I do. Yep I've played it 5hrs in now.

I’m looking forward to it but not expecting it to be perfect as nothing in this world is. I never pre order games for early access anymore as I’d rather wait for a day one patch. Of course that shouldn’t be the case, but it is what it is with games of this magnitude.

Good video, love the direct feedback. Does it have any post-game stuff to do or is it basically once you're done, you can clean up what you missed and that's it? Curious if it has any real endgame.
once you finish you can go back to just exploring and doing contracts. there's a fair amount of stuff to do.

I think the review is pretty insightful *however* a big takeaway from this is that it is marketed as a triple A game and reflected with a premium price point, higher of that than even Elden Ring. When you consider the clunky and janky gameplay as well I feel it knocks it down further unless you are a *current* Star Wars fan.
See I would love a stealth star wars game in a splinter cell kinda way, and it sounds like what they were poking at, just missed the mark a bit with the scripted piss off this faction mission. I really feel like if you completely silent assassin those missions you should be able to avoid the reputation penalty
i agree, that would have made it a fun sort of choice to make. go in hot and take the penalty or take your time and be meticulous to avoid it.

Ugh, they copied the yellow paint from Horizon Zero Dawn for climbing surfaces. I always hated that and yeah I agree, it is totally immersion breaking.
I was so excited for this game. 😔 When are we going to get a real open world RPG in the Star Wars universe?! It’s crazy! I want character creation, light/dark side skill tree leveling, real Jedi type stuff! Am I the only one who thinks this game and the Kal games (which I didn’t hate btw) have been just huge missed opportunities?? Sad.
This game is a 5 or 6 at best. This looks like a PS4 Game.

Watching this review made me so happy that I didn’t have to waste a chunk of change because I’m a fan boy for Star Wars on a game that I find very boring. It may be fun to other people and I’m glad it does but it seems to be very boring to me and unappealing and doesn’t look too fun, not even the fighting mechanic or the gun mechanics look fun. Welp… there goes the new Star Wars game.🙄
HUGE "Wait for sale", which it absolutely will see soon with low sales, the somewhat poor reviews already etc. Give it 6 months it'll be half price or less.

Because that's what it is. A solid mid tier game. Not every game has to set the gaming world on fire. Sometimes ok is ok.

If that’s what you really want out of a “Quadruple A Experience” then you can go right ahead and purchase it for yourself.

I’m not a big gamer, but can someone explain to me why there is no option to play as a male character or change skin tones? When I play a game I want to visualize myself as the protagonist. That really enhances the experience for me. Do most hardcore gamers disagree?
some games are trying to tell a story within a set universe. they're more like interactive movies. you don't just change the gender of the main character of a movie or a book just to match your own. some of the most successful games in the history of gaming are like this, like tomb raider, the last of us, god of war, the metroid series, the zelda games, etc. what you're looking for would be an RPG of some kind where you can create a custom character from the onset and play a specific way, not a story driven game.
Lockpicking is a cluster🤬 that Ubisoft needs to change because players are getting so frustrated and I've seen complaints already. Hopefully, they will make it better in Title Updates I found it a little frustrating and confusing at the start until I realised I was doing it all wrong.

@@konrad1101 It was 00:15 when I took a peak at the game, I had to be up at 06:00 in the morning so I was looking through tired eyes and I only found out through some research today that you can turn the lockpicking off in the options and open doors faster so that you don't have to go with the rhythm of tapping to open the door. I am glad the Devs put this into the game as I was getting frustrated but I was a little tired at the time.

My issue is that there's no male character option. you lost a bunch of customers by not giving options
personally i think that's strange, like I've never once in my life turned down a game based on the gender of the protagonist. I loved Metroid Prime even tho Samus is a woman. Loved Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. Loved the Tomb Raider games. Like, if the game is good the game is good. If it's bad, it's bad. The gender of the main character is a complete non issue to me.

Looks like it’s another decent run of the mill single player game but shouldn’t have had been treated like some massive headline game for the Star Wars IP. Just another game.

Thanks for the review. I was curious about it, but the lack of agency kind of goes against what I thought this game would be. The gameplay also doesn’t look that interesting.
With all respect, a 71 appears generous. I get it, not wanting to hurt some ones work. However at the same time, you have a lot of fans counting on your 100% honest score. ("hopefully a solid C grade isn't enough to upset anyone") makes it feel somewhat dishonest. It is certainly not as high as a 71 from what I have seen... Especially considering the price tag attached to this game.
I am happy you didn't take the free vacation from Ubisoft though haha.

Yeah I really didn't know if his comment was directed at his audience or Ubisoft. I feel like if it was directed at Ubisoft, did that mean he thought it should be lower? If it was directed at his audience does that mean he thought it should be higher? Either way it just felt like his desire to not upset someone... who ever that is, may have skewed his rating one way or the other.
I'm sure he didn't mean to seem dishonest in anyway, but would be cool if he clarified what he meant by that.

I'm probably going to take a pass on this game too- maybe I'll try it sometime when it's deeply discounted on a sale; I like stealth & exploration games, but I hate when games force you to make decisions that don't make sense or that your character wouldn't make, especially when those decisions are more or less arbitrary. Ruins the experience for me.

Heres the thing, no one asked for a space thief star wars game. No point in being a STAR WARS game. Could literally slap any franchise space tag on this game. There's nothing star wars about this game

It always has looked mid, it had so much potential though. But it would have to be reworked from the ground up.
It feels like this game could have been good but just missed on too many points to be worth it to me. Combat is very important to me as well so that’s probably my biggest complaint is it looks really clunky.

@@myturn926 that’s what I mean it looks way too basic with very little combat flow. It doesn’t look engaging just point and click adventure makes the combat feel cheap imo. I like it when games feel dynamic it adds to the immersion for me this at least how it appears would bother me while playing it. I don’t mean mechanically clunky I guess just compared to the polish some other games combat this has won’t work for me. Fallen order while being a lightsaber game had a lot more engaging looking combat and in comparison to this games style some of the ghost recon games feel a lot more immersive at least from what I can see. Could be a personal problem though so if you like it I hope you have fun.

great review. i was worried that there would be too much pass/fail stealth but it seems like that is not super prevalent. i'm coming off of shadow of the erdtree and black myth wukong which were both a ton of fun to explore, so the idea of more exploration in a completely different setting sounds cool. who knows, maybe the stealth will not be so bad. i am glad i saw this review.

I honestly can't believe that people are saying how this game looks awesome. Have these people never played any game before? This game is visually generic and bland. I don't get it.

Great review TV. Just a a couple of small suggestions. I would refrain from using the title "brutally honest review". I think it sets a negative tone for potential viewers interesting in watching. I think it's best if you put something that's more impartial in its messaging for your audience. Maybe simply put a thumbnail with a boxart/digital titling from the dev themselves with the word "review" in similar font to the game or your own to give it identity.
Also, maybe don't have a score associated with your reviews as well. While scores do provide a great metric for how well or poorly a game does, the discourse surrounding what's bad and good, especially if several people disagree with what YOU consider a good score, will take away from anything you say in your review about a game. Maybe a recommendation system would suit your style much better.

I want to try this but clunky gunplay, forcing me to play as kay, someone who just dosent sound interesting, and making me use nix, while he is cute, if I want to be an outlaw like han solo I dont want to use a doggie to complete missions. These are all deal breakers for me man...

I don't really think so, every single mission in this game is a tradeoff of some kind more or less. Main missions, side missions, it's all betray this person to the benefit of this person. You basically learn that right out the gate.
