I was interested in this game until I watched this review. The major reviewers encompass and gloss over pretty much every criticism with ‘It’s NoT PerFect’ but…so it refreshing to watch an honest review. I really don’t understand the stealth decision. Like it’s Star Wars, how many players were clamouring for a Star Wars stealth game as opposed to, y’know, action?
I wouldn't take this review that seriously, this is probably the least honest review of the game I've seen. All his gameplay complaints are addressed with character progression, mostly from side quest and exploration. Anyone that's played the game can tell from his b-roll he's lying when he said he's done the majority of side content. His equipment, gear, upgrades, amount of health bars, his faction rep, etc etc shows he hasn't done the side content. So he's saying one thing and showing another, aka either blatantly lying or REALLY REALLY bad at the game and ignorant to that. Not sure which is worse for a reviewer tbh.
As someone who loves the concept of the Agent class in SWTOR I've actually always thought a stealth-based Star Wars game where you could use a wide variety of interesting tools and weapons to take people out or get around undetected could be really cool and is something I've bee kinda hoping to see someday. But then this game comes along and makes it almost feel like someone's playing a prank on me. The most bare-bones stealth mechanics, and they make zero use of the fact that this is a sci-fi universe where they can come up with all kinds of dope tools for you to use, but instead the main method your character uses for takedowns is to throw the shittiest and most amateurish haymaker punch possible that looks so weak that she would realistically struggle to even leave a bruise, yet is somehow enough to take knock enemies out in one hit.
Cyberpunk was so fun. I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did after buying it for $5 used when it was in its worst state. Best $5 I've likely ever spent.

The fact that they sell complete edition of this game for 129.99$ is enough reason to skip anything Ubisoft produces during this year and all next years while they keep such pricing strategy.
no, if game is not worth buying it is not worth "renting" either. Using subscription makes sense for those who already using it for all previous Ubisoft games which are also there and they play them often enough. There is no reason for anyone to create new subscription for only ONE overpriced game. More logical would be to buy it (if someone really really wants to do it) on the sale instead which it will be after a month or two :D
When it comes to maps and finding your next objectives, I feel like Ghost of Tsushima had the most innovative and best way to help you find your locations. Instead of making you look at a minimap, or pause the game and open up a full size map, it used the wind to direct you. So whichever way the wind was blowing was the direction of your objective, and that really kept you immersed in the game and paying attention to the environment instead of constantly looking at a map. That is honestly the best way that I have ever seen waypoints and objective locations done in a video game.
Massive Entertainment has shown me twice now that they are no different than the rest of the Ubisoft studios when it comes to making open world games. How do you have MULTIPLE studios making open world games yet ALL of them feel the exact same? It’s mind boggling, it’s like they’re making them purposely mid.

I have 47 hours in the game and it is incredibly disappointing. There are some good ideas in here but the implementation is terrible. I think half my time in the game was looking up where to go because the game kept telling me to search an area for what to do instead of giving me a waypoint.
Nah. Larian turned baldurs gate into divinity original sins 3, with a D&D overcoat. They completely altered the franchise. I don't trust them not to do it again.
I'll never understand why it's so hard to get a modern, open-world Star Wars game where we can completely customize our characters, weapons, ships, and tell our own stories. There's a reason why OCs are so popular within the Star Wars community.
Because Cannon. Every new star wars story in any media is pretty much tied to the current stories we know in some way. You can't have a tied in cannon story if everyone had their own custom creations lol
@thecommakozzi8050 Galxies and SWTOR are not Disney Star Wars Cannon. That's my point. Everything Lucasfilm under Disney is designed to be in their cannon story.
Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) spoilers ahead if you wanna play them! It's even very possible to have an OC with established "Cannon" as one person above is spelling it... lol. No matter what kind of build and personality you make your MC in KOTOR, they will always be Darth Revan. Same with the sequel and being the Jedi Exile. So, they obviously don't even have to go Full Commit on a completely original character. Even a "Commander Shepard" character creation in SW Outlaws would be more fun than having to use the deliberately Ugly Stick "modern audience" protagonist.

Forced stealth mechanics, yet the devs couldn't be bothered to implement more realistic ways of taking down enemies? Just one meager punch to the face on someone wearing a helmet and they're out cold? Ridiculous. We deserve better in 2024.
One thing that sticks out loudly to me : in pretty much all Star Wars content since the beginning, most blasters have a stun mode (short range blue circles). Here, it looks like they decided to remove that very canon and common option [EDIT: I was wrong. The stun mode does exist on the blaster in this game]. It makes some noise, so it could have been mediocre in some situations (had they integrated it in the game). I was expecting a bit more RPG design, deeper. Oh well.
Should have given her more than just the blaster pistol for permanent equipment. What about a shock baton, instead of breaking her hand when she is punching stormtrooper helmets 100 times a day.

@@henryreed4697 Lemme ask you something. If they wanted an actress to play the part of a character, why would they use CGI to change how they look? It's redundant. It's like buying an expensive and pretty painting and hanging it in your house only to spray paint a dick on it. It doesn't add up. You bought that painting, why ruin it? They paid to use that actress's likeness, so why change her? If they wanted the character to look like someone else, they should get an actress that looks like the character they're trying to make. Or, don't bother with the actress; just go full CGI and have her only voice the character. It's weird even if the roles were reversed and an ugly woman was made to be more attractive. Beauty has nothing to do with it. It's the fact that they are changing this person's face despite paying to use the original face. Why bother? It's a waste of time and money. @@rainingtacos7529 this is the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard. They paid for her voice, she's a voice actress for the game. Other mediums that use voice actors don't have to make to make their characters 1:1 recreations or their voice actors, why is this game being criticized for a rule that isn't applied to all other voice acted media? Besides the character looks fine, she doesn't look ugly. Sure she looks different to her voice actress, but just because she looks different doesn't mean she's ugly. And the character's appearance doesn't affect things that can be criticized, things like gameplay and story are things that are worth criticism.
@@cynic5581a guy using early B-roll to not spoil later parts of the game does not mean he’s lying? What the fuck are you on about
As someone who loves the concept of the Agent class in SWTOR I've actually always thought a stealth-based Star Wars game where you could use a wide variety of interesting tools and weapons to take people out or get around undetected could be really cool and is something I've bee kinda hoping to see someday.
"Don't get caught" should always be followed by [Optional] as in cyberpunk.
Cyberpunk was so fun. I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did after buying it for $5 used when it was in its worst state. Best $5 I've likely ever spent.

no, if game is not worth buying it is not worth "renting" either. Using subscription makes sense for those who already using it for all previous Ubisoft games which are also there and they play them often enough. There is no reason for anyone to create new subscription for only ONE overpriced game. But your still paying 129 for an incomplete game at launch
Oh well.

I can't see a logical reason as to why they would do this as a creative or business decision.
@@rainingtacos7529 this is the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard.
They paid for her voice, she's a voice actress for the game. The developers don't have to make the character a 1:1 recreation of the voice actress.
Character appearance that doesn't match your beauty standards isn't valuable criticism.

I feel like Star Wars always feels the need to throw in a cute little mascot in order to sell more toys. Grogu, BD-1, those little birds in the Last Jedi, I didn’t mind it at first but now I’m getting tired of it.
I think any subsequent Star Wars game project should begin with you playing Anakin and killing all the younglings as a dark flashback for players, which would then introduce a much darker, grittier story (like Andor). Let's bin the cutesy stuff.
Don’t forget that little boo-boo frik or whatever its name was in Rise of Skywalker
Wah
They're like cute, adorable omens.
@predetor911 it's because George Lucas (when he still ran the show) made like 90% of his money on the Star Wars merch via a contract he wrote up to Fox at the time ANH was being made. Fox would get his portion of movie sale as long as he had sole rights to the toys and merch. Dude literally built his empire on it
I hope EA and Ubisoft dont try to blame missing projections on the IP and instead realize they don't know how to make great games (Jedi survivor only exclusion)
@timothycastaneda9363 Yeah, but the Respawn team has made a banger every time, except Apex. Both Titanfall games are in my top 20
@@mycazglinski2302 what you mean "except Apex" like it didn't improve the battle royale genre when it came out 😭
It's not my type of game but they are yet to miss on any release. the only issues have been optimisation.
@@D4C_LoveTrain1 I was mainly talking about their solo* projects. Like the ones they get to fully craft.
*EA and EA micro transactions heavily influence Apex.
The trick about Jedi Survivor is the same as Mandalorian Season one, every exec thought that it will bumm so they didn’t give an F.
As soon as they get involved the project will be a disaster.
I gotta say, this is one of the best detailed reviews not only MrMatty’s ever done, but it’s more detailed of the how and why this game doesn’t function than any review I’ve seen for this game. Thanks for what you put into this.
I wonder why we didnt get a Mando & Grogu open world game where you can call in Grogu to do some force stuff to help take down big baddies etc. Or even a co-op or PvP Bounty hunter game
You’re fired. We told you in the meeting last week not to have good ideas, and so now what? Just off the top of your head you improve the game ten times. No, sir, not at Lucas/Disney.
theres literally infinite good ideas for star wars video games and they just dont ever do them, or only ever pick the worst ideas
The same reason we didn't get a Cal Kestis Disney+ show and got The Alcolyte instead.
Ubisoft- Will you buy Outlaws?
Answer- 9:02
You’re telling me she’s strong enough to knock out fully grown aliens in armor with one punch of her bare hand? Damn.
That’s what you care about ?
You’re acting like that mechanic would be different if it was a male character. It wouldn’t be.
@@jennymcelligott nah, but it shouldn’t be a dumbass punch 😂
Yaas queen! Girl boss! Strong independent woman, yo.
It would of been cool if they went with a garrote wire she chokes people with or even a stun taser would makes more sense for these stealth sections.
I love Outlaws, its everything I wanted it to be, I'm living my Star Wars bandit dreams out here.
I just do contracts and gamble, such is the hard grind of an outlaw.
I did not enjoy survivor, I only paid $3 for it and I still felt ripped off!
Not everything has to be crash bandicoot!! I just want to walk from A to B without a million traversal puzzles, and stab things with my lightsaber.
I say stab because Metal Gear Rising it's not.
The “caught” and reload to check point is such a weird decision to me. It’s not only limiting gameplay wise but also roleplaying and story wise as well, and makes it feel cartoonish. Oh you got caught by the scary deadly crime syndicate but they just say hey please go back to this check point and try again 😂.
I do not get why Ubisoft is so content with releasing slop. They can't be making that much profit, right?
@@DazHotep6EQUJ5call of duty is still a better game then most online shooters
@@DazHotep6EQUJ5Cool, but Ubisoft’s stock price is down massively in the last 5 years
@@ISGAMINGFORNERDSit’s own f the best shooters out there
I don't understand how GAMERS are okay with ubisoft releasing slop and defending it! I mean look at Ass Creed!
WE’LL FIX IT IN POST!
8:44 omg that face💀
Exactly. What were they thinking 🤢
Damn I thought people were exaggerating when they said it was bad
Looks like an alien.
Is she part Alien? It does look awful! the clip were she CGI, she does look better. I find the character model off putting and distracting.
How are we regressing this much? Ass creed 2 and Far cry 3 had better face animations back on the xbox 360 lmao
I remember finishing KOTOR 2 and being excited about KOTOR 3…
The graphics were better in them. I am just going to wait for the new Mass Effect game.
I binged kotor for an unhealthy amount of time when I was stationed in Korea 😂 my army buddy put me on and I was like this is the best Star Wars game ever I was hoping this game would be good
Hopefully that kotor remake isn't a dei dumpster fire
@@CatholicChad712 I agree
@@CatholicChad712You know it's going to be a dei dumpster fire let be realistic
not under Disney, made by Ubisoft...
@@CatholicChad712
I am sure they will fuck up this remake too. Disney is very good at selling overpriced shit (or disappointment at best)
Can't believe Ubisoft thought they could make a great Star Wars game. Talk about delusions of grandeur.
More like they thought they could sell a mediocre game just based off the brand name
at least its not a souls-like and not a force-user game
I cant believe people actually had high hopes for this game in the first place
I'm not a graphics snob but holy sh... that facial animation is so bad Detrimental to immersion
Also if you would have taken the time to do the side missions to get the ship, weapon, and speeder upgrades they DRASTICALLY change in their effectiveness!
This is why you don't watch review videos by giant gaming "journalists" like IGN.
Real people, real reviews, real issues.
this guy is a massive shill lol
@@NocturnalNickhow?
@@mekelle8757 by shilling
IGN gave this game a 7/10, which is basically a 5/10 in the video game world. Its not like they are calling this game GOTY either lmao
@@NocturnalNick do elaborate my good sir
"I'll let the gameplay do the talking," absolute perfection. Words truly were not needed lol.
"The polish level here is unacceptable. From visuals to bugs" - Well. It is an Ubisoft game. Did anyone truly NOT expect this??????
expect don’t mean we have to accept this
I feel sorry for anyone that thought this game was gonna be the next BIG Star Wars game…
…but also please share with me the secret to that ignorant optimism.
The protag looked cute in cgi but in game its so uncanny and creepy
They purposefully made her look worse than real life. It'd just be easier to make an accurate face scan these days.
Damn those facial animations looks straight out of 2013
Saying this is an insult to Bioshock Infinite, GTA V, TLOU, Tomb Raider …
More like 2007
there is no way you can make this face look like its human :D
Didn't we get GTA5 in 2013? The Last of Us? 2004 or something we got Half Life 2... Bro, these facial animations are from like the 90s. As a "mature" gamer, the industry has defintily gone backwards after the 360/ps3 era. That era we got an explosion of tech and innovation, and now everything is just regressing into dogsh*t. Cheap, corporate, quickie trash. But, more expensive than ever!
@@af4396 oh damn you're right I guess I should have said around like early 2010 era
This game looks so bad. It just makes me wanna play a good Star Wars game like bounty hunters, or Kotor or even the LEGO game
game looks fine another hater
The Lego Skywalker saga is hella fun play it
@@gamerbeast3616 nah that shit is ass bro u def didn’t watch the review nobody likes failing stealth and restarting the whole misssion..🤨
0:40 "ubisoft massive, the developers behind the division games" It all makes sense now. No wonder it blows.
This is not the stealth game renaissance I was looking for
