- These Nintendo movies nearly came out...but they got rejected. The Super Mario Bros. movie saw a step in the right direction for the future of Nintendo films but it definitely wasn't the first pitched idea. Which ones were they and why? Let's find out.

I didn’t know there was going to be a possible LOZ movie before I clicked on the video. When I saw Ganondorf from the clips, I immediately thought he looked like Sephiroth. But where did the Buzz Lightyear come from?

With Detective Pikachu getting a sequel hopefully that film can serve a starting point for them to make films based off of other Pokémon stories like Mystery Dungeon or Colliseum.

Detective Pikachu is a masterpiece
The characters are endearing
The last act is unique
The story is faithful to the DP game and to the world of pokemon in general etc
It was the easiest Pokémon story to adapt as a first time

astroboy is a good movie, it failed due to a lack of advertising and not much western recognition of the ip.

I feel sorry for inmagi they became bankrupt because of how bad the astro Boy movie performed in the box office. It seems that they wanted to make a guardian of the universe and zelda movie

Nintendo confirmed that Starwars and the show Thunderbirds was a big inspiration for Starfox.

It's technically not Nintendo, but personally I'd love to see a Mega Man movie. I feel like CGI animation would work really well with the Robot Masters. Capcom, no matter how long it takes, I beg you - make it happen.

I always thought that the “Zelda Netflix movie” was the same project as the Imagi Zelda pitch that was shot down.
I recall Satoru Iwata being asked whether the Zelda Netflix rumor was true, and he responded by saying Nintendo had nothing to announce at the time regarding films that use Nintendo’s IP, but confirmed “that particular rumor is not based on correct information.”
I always took that as him saying that there was some truth to the whole Zelda movie pitch rumor that was being floated around, but there were factual errors that got mixed up as the rumor was being passed around. First, it could’ve started with an accurate statement about how Imagi was making it and considered reaching an exclusivity deal with Netflix for distribution. The next person could’ve just left out the Imagi Studios part and just mentioned about how they heard an insider talk about a Zelda Netflix movie that was just proposed.
I actually really liked the Astro Boy Imagi movie.
I mean Pluto is never going to be topped as the peak Astro Boy reimagining, but still, I thought the Imagi movie explored some interesting ideas as well.
Let's see how this goes then.

Well that all Netflix flauts for not being professionals come to dealing with the leaks of their plan's for an zelda show, beside it didn't get too far before getting canned. It was probably was early stages anyways.
Hey can you do a new series involving past remakes of Pokemon main tiles and re-remake them like adding new Pokemon that are currently in the series SO FAR in each of their main story dex and post game like gym leader/ champion and elite 4 rematches because since the Lets go titles AND the previous remakes of DP where a HUGE disaster.

Metroid would be really hard to adapt to film because the games are mostly focus on Samus' isolation as she takes on whatever task is at hand. I really don't know how that would work, but one thing's for sure: Captain Marvel has made me not want Brie Larson as Samus.

If Nintendo wants to make a Legend of Zelda movie, they need to partner with the makers of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies - they would knock that project out of the park!
Peter Jackson hasn't directed a film since the hobbit. That production broke him mentally.
Kay both the Zelda things would’ve sucked it would’ve ruined what Zelda is about, especially if they were to have a talking link, and man if Tom Holland played him I would die.
The only way I see them really doing a Zelda movie or show is if they base it off of one of the other games, unless they do it really good like the Mario movie. I definitely have faith that Nintendo will start doing good in the movie industry.
Also I don’t think any of them should be live action anyway, like I can’t imagine a live action Zelda, Metroid, or kid icarus or something. They should all be animated

The claymation Star Fox one is clearly superior to all the others, but the Metroid one sounds like it would've been super interesting, and the only Metroid game I've played was some of Hunters on the DS, and a VERY small amount at that.
Gotta say though, that 3D Link was kinda hot, but Zelda's face is very not correct, and Gannondorf looks like he was ripped out of the TerminalMontage video for Tears of the Kingdom with Sephiroth's hairline slapped on top.

i heard Netflix was going to do this film and Ganondorf almost looked like Dark-Link and Skeletor put together, but a sephiroth-ganon seem badass. 2007 tmnt i was pleased and i say F@ck you critics. a starfox claymation film seemed like a great idea. Nexflix Castlevania was my dad favorite when it came in 2018. Netflix was planning to make a Metroid series but its just a rumor with Brie Larson as the voice of samus but Ronda Rousey was so close. why were there not any good nintendo films its because people are 1000 years behind in intelligents.

It's amusing how that first Mario Movie really is the sole thing that kept Nintendo off movies and even other media for the longest time. Just outright not even entertaining ideas almost. It's a miracle we finally were able to get that second chance with the Illumination Mario movie.
One film project you didn't mention though is that Director Seth Gordon wanted to make a movie for... Super Paper Mario of all games. Which is extremely bizarre. Not even Paper Mario generally, just that specific game.
Its interesting because Super Paper Mario has one of the best Mario stories imo... but it is very bizarre comapred to the overall Mario brand energy. Can see why it ain't happen.
