I agree with the owner. I have the '17 model Z06 minus the Z07 package. I cannot walk by it without stopping to let my eyes soak up the look. The manual trans enhances the driving experience. You must be involved & focused. Everything happens quickly. Fun, fun, fun. 😄 👍

Mike, as always, great video and content. This is the first “fix” I have seen that was a result of the heat soak class action. I also got the letter on my ‘16 Z06, but talked to Vengeance because I already had my build scheduled by then. I only had heat soak once prior, and it was not on the track. My Vengeance build included a secondary heat exchanger with an expansion tank due to previous heat soak issues in ‘15-‘16 and to support the new build. They do it with all stage 3 C7 Z builds regardless of year. Also, the expansion tank allows for adding ice to it for when you track it. Pretty cool set up. Thanks for the video and explanations of what the GM fix was! 👍💪

Hey Doug! I'm going down the modification Road on my 16z. So far AFE intake, Corsa x pipe and exhaust and a 2.3 pulley. When I did the pulley we did an AFCO heat exchanger. So far I have not done the expansion tank but that's next and I'm also looking into 160 degree thermostat. What kind of power are you putting out and how do you think the cooling is performing? Not so much limp mode but do you notice a loss in power after few pulls?
@@MichaelGreco Hey Michael! My stock Z baseline dyno numbers were 548/601 to the wheels, and post numbers were 681/675 to the wheels. My mod was done in May, and I have really only driven it during high temp days. The car pulls really hard, and does not have any lag whatsoever even after several pulls. I do not use traction control anymore because it is not good for it with the mods and extra horsepower. Before pulls I turn traction control off and go manual mode for the transmission and use paddles. I am looking forward to taking it out this weekend with the cooler temps and lower humidity to see if I notice any difference in power. I have not even had the top out since the mods because it has been too hot and humid. Also looking forward to hearing it do its thing without top and windows blocking the sound from my pipes! Do you have any numbers thus far?
@@doughooks7411 good stuff! What mods did you do? My baseline was really low on crappy 91 octane. 510 horsepower and I don't remember the torque. After the intake, exhaust and tune I got to 550 wheel and torque. Then the x-pipe, the pulley in a different shop that did a little bit more of an aggressive tune it jumped huge to 637 wheel and 680 torque

Beautiful car. Mine is very similar, black-on-black though which is what I wanted. Manuel 3lz with ZO7, but all my aero is carbon flash which I'm good with because it matches the black look. I'm interested in those LG drop spindles but I need to check with DSC sport to see how the drop spindles interact with the DSC sport controller that I have

Wow Darin, sweet Z! I wonder what LG Motorsports would say as far as how they would solve that overheating issue. I saw a video, on TH-cam, from Lally Chevy and they had a different take on the solution. They used an automatic trans '15 Z as their "test mule". I have to say the solution was expensive, like 10 K, but all the parts came from the GM parts bin. Anyway, that is one fine ride. Save the Wave!

I have a 2019 M7, I have tracked it some, and the only message I get is “Warm” in Track mode, Sport 1, in the DIC in the middle, above the tire pressure. Never went into limp mode. Don’t know if this referred to brakes? The manual has the extra radiator.

The manuals are significantly less susceptible to overheating on the track. Hope you continue to enjoy your great car!

My 19 Manual came with the chin cooler. Something else is going on now at 14K miles because it’s running about 10 degrees hotter.

I never did, I had a buddy that had so many problems he had them changed out for the steel ones.
