Best video and explanation for this issue! I have a 2015 Ford Edge SE and my vent was stuck on the low / lower vent. This was the exact fix. I bought an aftermarket Dorman 604-293 actuator and it worked perfectly. The part that I did differently though is that I plugged in my new motor, turned on the car and then set the car settings to where it was stuck. (In my case, the lower vents). I saw my motor turn to those specific settings. That way you don't have to deal with aligning the gears as it will already be aligned. I then installed the actuator with the screws and continued with the installation. Excellent, excellent video! Thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Ford repair bulletin said you have to deactivate and remove knee airbag to get to actuator. Of course they do, because then they can charge a fortune to replace a 40 dollar part. Thank you for taking the time to share this SIMPLE solution. Most appreciated.
Yes, this is the Mode Actuator. It controls which location the air blows. There is only one Mode Actuator. There are other actuators that control blend doors for adjusting the air temperature.
This video looks easy, however my problem is not with the defroster. My A/C quit working from one crank of the car to the next. I’ve tried to reset the HVAC system, but I’m still getting HOT air. My A/C seat works, but now the dash… any ideas on how to reset or fix it without having to take it in to a FORD dealership?
@@HaoAutoMechanic Thanks! Actually, I was able to reset the HVAC via a YT video that I found. I held down the MAX DEFROST button and the power on / off button and after about 5 tries and my car sitting over night, the AC worked the next morning!!!! I searched for ‘how to reset HVAC in a Ford Edge.
I have a 2015 edge titanium , right side cold and hot ok. Left side stays cold. I replace the blend door actuator. That didn't fix the problem. Any tips ?

What tools do I need to do this?
You need 8 m/m socket 1/4 drive better
I am stuck on the steering wheel column I can’t figure out what tool I need to take it out. I got the other parts out.

Does anyone know if this is the same actuator for the defrost, vent, and floor? I have defrost and floor, but no air from the vents.

My question is ? You did not tell me
When you turn ac on or turn heat on?
If you turn ac on probably low fion
Try charging ac
Because fion not enough so that’s why is problem
Not blend door ,only replace left side temperature door actuator

looks like its Ford part #GS7Z19E616A. I cross referenced Dorman HVAC Door Actuator 604-293 which is the Main Air Distribution mode and correct part.

My 2016 has two large welded vertical bars and one is blocking access, anyone have any ideas?
