2013 Ford Edge Limited heat not working/climate control system reset!

  • Had problems with no heat whatsoever, 2013 Ford edge limited. Replaced the blend door actuator which I had found in forums should fix it, but still had no heat. Tried several things, read up about the fix for pressing the climate power and defrost at the same time but had to figure out the correct procedure. Wanted to post this so if you’re having this problem, you know what to do!

You're a life saver dude! Worked the first time on my 2013 Edge Ltd, but...after restarting the car, it still blows hot on driver side, I redid it and it worked again, but why it doesn't stay this way...???

You are wonderful. I'm ready to go on a 1300 mine trip and on Friday afternoon, when I'm leaving on Monday, the passenger side of my 2014 Edge starts blowing heat. I still have AC on the driver's side. I call both the Ford dealership and my local mechanic who told me it's the blend door actuator and it is an 8-hour job to replace it. That the entire dash has to come out, but no one can see me for 2 weeks and I'm leaving Monday morning. I've been searching for a workaround on TH-cam and found several ways on TH-cam to reset and none worked. When I found yours I was looking at how to block the passenger side so at least I wouldn't have the heater on full blast in August. Your reset worked immediately. I'm 68 years old and you saved my trip. Thank you Soooooo much!!

Went to a mechanic shop this week cuz the driver side wasn't blowing hot air, they tried to convince me to replace one specific "fan module" and the total including parts + labor was supposed to be something around $450!
Just did exactly what u showed and boom, everything working fine!

THANK YOU!!! When my passenger side started blowing BLAZING HOT mid-summer 2-3 years ago, I found the instructions to reset the AC on the non-limited trim. Over the years, I managed to accidentally press the right sequence to get it to reset a few times but couldn't reliably duplicate the results. I just stumbled across this video while shopping for a replacement part. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Just fixed my car. I originally took this to a mechanic to fix and refill my system and spend $150 after trying to refill the system myself. When I did the refill the charge indicated full so I knew I had to take it to get looked at. Tech flushed system and recharged it, still blew hot, once he erased all the red flag codes from the car the system worked. Paid $150. After a week my driver side went out. Took it back to him and he suggested I replace the blend door actuator. We have it a tap under the steering wheel and both blew cold. Then my passenger went out a day later. After watching. This they both now work. Thank you so much.

Fixed this while on a trip and didn't have my OBD II scanner and laptop with me. OH MY GOSH!! This was so helpful!! This is the only video I've found that matches my exact trim package, and I was seriously losing my mind trying to figure it out! Also, for anyone else out there, another issue I was having was a horrible smell flooding my car when I turned the heat on high. Turns out, a common cause is mold growing on the wiper blades and inside the vents. I swapped out the wiper blades and sprayed 409 into each vent, letting it sit for 2-3 hours before cranking the heat. Had to repeat this twice with the vents, but now the smell is gone, and it killed all the mold!

I know this is an old video now, but I’ve spent several hours today watching essentially the same video from different people. The one showing how to reset a vehicle like mine but without My Ford Touch. I tried to hold power and defrost and then tap power about 56 different times and it didn’t do anything. I was about to start ripping the interior apart when I finally came across this video that shows my trim package, and it had a rather different procedure to reset it. But at least this procedure gives you feedback to know you did it properly (the ambient lighting changing colors).
I had to do the procedure four or five times before it worked, but after the second time it was getting slightly better each time I did the reset. Oh, I forgot to mention that my issue was no heat on driver’s side.
So, after the second reset, I began to notice small improvements (increased temp. on driver’s side) after each reset. After the 4th or 5th reset, it was nice and hot.
And now I have this stuck in my head….”press, hold, release, press, press. Press, hold, release, press, press. Press, hold, release, press, press. YESSSSS!!!
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Seriously dude, I very much appreciate you taking the time to post this video.

Awesome video that answered my issue, believe it or not, what caused my blend doors to be out of sync was a dead battery my fault, but after recharging all I could get was cold air on drivers side and hot wire on passenger side. I went thru a lot of videos and BS before finding this, and this process works! Thanks😊

Thanks for the video the dealership tried to say it was the heater core after I told them I replaced the blend door and it still wasn't working!

This worked great on my 2013 Lincoln MKX! Thank you so much! Other videos tell you to remove the actuators and get underneath the steering wheel. Wow this was so easy! Thanks again!

Thank you, thank you! I used another video to reset it last year, but I really had to fiddle with it because it didn’t have the touch screen. Your version worked perfectly! 🎉

I wonder if this is a fluke in all 2013 limiteds. Wish it could be fixed so we didn't have to the this everytime we wanted cold air. Thank you for sharing this. Very effective!

Perfect Video!! there are at least five other videos that are so detailed and do a manual repair where your reset is the solution.

HALLELUJAH! THIS WORKS! 2012 Ford Edge Limited. I'd been having intermittent problems with it blowing hot air out of the passenger side, even on max AC. It would do it for a few days, then "fix itself" for awhile, then do it again. Of course, always when it's 100+ F out! I was dreading the repair bill, as the shop said they needed to pull the dash to fix. Even when I found out that was not the case, and you only need to remove the glove box, it was still a HUGE relief. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for posting this! It is saved to my faves for the next time it happens.

@@zangardavid4491 Not sure David. If it has the same digital climate control system as the Edge, it should work. Mine also has the Sync system, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it?
