if he didn't tail glow, he wouldn't have died AND wouldn't have even gotten as far in the battle... tailglow doubles his attack, so taillglow into spark is the same as 2 sparks. then he used another spark on the wigglytuff which would have been another 2 sparks = 4 turns to do what he did in 3

Well Freeze has around a 10.7% chance to last 10 turns, far more than any Pokémon would be reasonably expected to last against a foe, so it sort of can be for all intents and purposes.

kaizo ironmon is a thing that can be fun to watch but you have to understand that as a nuzlocker it is beyond miserable to play imo. Endless runs with zero prep that can just end due to Destiny Bond, early Dragon Rage, Perish Song, Counter/Mirror Coat, where the optimal strategy is a good offensive typing and high bst mons so you can outspeed and ohko everything. I've always described Kaizo IronMon as a difficult pokemon game for those who don't play pokemon, because the game knowledge you need for it is very low and luck is about 95% of it, so there's very little room for skill expression. Emerald Rogue has legitimate skill and game knowledge to it that makes runs legitimately impressive from a player standpoint, even if there is still a decent amount of luck in it as well, so it's not like randomness in a challenge has to be this unfun. "It's designed to be this way" well the design sucks lmao that does not excuse that the challenge is inherently flawed. People like this challenge because it's free content, you can just do ironmon forever with little effort.
I have no clue if Jacob wants to continue to play this, but if he does, you are allowed to swap to an HM Friend if you get perish songed (the specific rule that says you can is 3.09a). Cant believe chat lied to Jacob when the rules are so simple /jk (seriously whoever came up with all these rules, what the hell)

The saddest part about the first run is he actually had a chance to save it with double tail glow The way he redid the battle was was just dumb RNG (spark killing in 2 hits was itself RNG--because we already know that it could fail to oneshot at +2), but we know for a fact that just patiently using a second tail glow would've guaranteed a oneshot on both poliwrath and wigglytuff. Honestly, yea, these runs just aren't my sort of thing to watch, (and definitely not to do), because they're about 5% skill, 95% rng. It feels like shiny hunting with the constant resetting, except you don't get any reward from hitting the good luck, beyond having to keep hoping the next trainer doesn't have a way to instant kill you or status lock you that you simply can't do anything about.

Genuinely don't know what the point of runs like this are. I'm all for randomizers but when all the moves and stats are randomized it doesn't really matter what the actual pokemon is. There's no shock in someone throwing out a dragonite if it has nothing that makes it one

I think youve basically just gotta have a bunch of pre-randomized savefiles prepped, and just run through those.
