    Thanks for the info. Had the same trouble with that nut and a hell of a lot more trouble with my torsion bars. No easy slide out for me.
    But done now so all good

    I did my 2010 str not long ago bout front not to bad to do but torson bars might take a little persuasion and drivers sids rear fuel tank was in the way of spring bolt an spare tyre so be careful i got medium load rear sits 810 rear and 760 front thats with 17inch patrol rims on took 3.5 hrs so not bad if your machanicaly minded

    Hi mate, how is the kit going since fitting it all up?

    Hey mate, great video!
    How do you find the raw suspension now that it has been on the car for a year and a half/have you still got the car? Hasnt sagged at all? And did the ride comfort improve?
    Cheers

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Ant,
      Thanks for the comment. The ride comfort is still, after 12 months, 10 times better than the OEM suspension was.
      I have noticed since installing, the rear has settled about a bit under an inch, so I'll have to wind the front down a little to match.
      Is still recommend these on value for money though.
      Cheers!

    Those rear leaf spring front pins are a pain. I didnt have to move the tank but i got a spanner with longer bar over the end to break the tight nut. Then putting them in was also a bit difficult by yourself. I have efs HD front torsion. They will sag a lot over the next 12 months, I had to rewind mine twice to stop them bouncing. and stay about 8mm from the top bump stop. Also the shocks dont do much on the d22 :P

    Hey mate, I recently bought a d22 and it’s only lifted at the back by 3 inches, it honestly looks like a drag car. What can I buy to lift the front 3 inches??

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate,
      If you get some good torsion bars, and wind them up a bit, you should get a bit of lift out of it.
      Just be aware that you might end up needing new Upper Control Arms, as raising the front a bit brings your shockers pretty close to the inside of the stock ones.

    Hi mate. Thanks for the video. I learnt heaps. How have you found the suspension kit from Supercenter now that you have driven with it ? Any good ? Did you get the constant load version or standard ?
    Thanks,
    Yen

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Yen,
      Thanks for the comment!
      So far I've done a couple of thousand K's on it, including doing a 4x4 training course and a few trips off-road. I got the standard load kit.
      A BIG improvement over the stock spring set. The back on mine had sagged 2", so raised the back about 4" total and levelled it out with the front which raised about 2".
      Massive difference on-road. Soooo much smoother over bumpy stuff. I recon the stock shockers were stuffed and I think that's made the difference there.
      Off road the clearance was excellent, and it handled the 4x4 training course, which was sloppy as and some big-ish climbs etc with ease.
      For the money, definitely a worth-while upgrade!
      Hope that helps!
      Cheers!
      - Matt

    Hey mate how did you go about getting the bolt off on the font of the leaf spring? The nut came off easily but i cant get the bolt out that goes through the bushes.. any tips would be unreal! Cheers

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sam,
      They came out pretty easy for me, but I can imaging they might be a bit stuck for some.
      Maybe try and put a jack under the spring and take some tension off it? or let some WD40 soak into it for a few hours?
      If all else fails, heat the bugger up and hopefully it'll shift, though that should be a last resort...
      Good luck!

    Hi mate,Does this suspension kit give any more lift over the stock? Just trying to work stuff out cause it would normally say how much lift it give of 4wd supacentre but doesn’t give much info. Thanks

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hudson Worth Hi mate, it does give at least a 2" lift over the stock setup. Gave me nearly 4" at the back thanks to the saggy old leaf springs!

    • @hudsonworth222
      @hudsonworth222 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheStagg thanks mate, did you find it difficult to install or was there just some tight bolts?

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the job was reasonably straight forward. The only nut that caused drama was on the driver's side, that required moving the fuel-tank over to get at. Even that was only a half hour and about 6 bolts to do. The torsion bars were also pretty easy. One side we did have to loosen the front mount to allow the old bar to free up and wiggle out, but otherwise they're a simple setup. A basic tool set with some good spanners and sockets and you should be able to do the whole job.

  • @stevenjalopnik1342

    Do you need HD torsion bars for a lift or can u use stock ones

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can wind the stock ones up, but I wouldn't recommend it. Puts extra strain on them and more likely to strip the ends on them if you're out 4 wheel driving. (Which would SUCK if it happened miles from home...)

      So far no dramas mate. Only thing I'd say is it'd be worth getting the after-market Upper Control Arms to avoid the stock ones rubbing on the front shock.
      But otherwise they've been fine.

    Keep an eye on the front shocks mate, if your running oem uca's mine have started to wear into the top of the shock, as there is about 2mm of clearance so any flex forces the shock into the edge of the uca, would be real interested to hear how yours are, mines a 2013 d22, with the same kit you got

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Craq, I'll keep an eye on mine. Haven't noticed anything wearing substantially yet though. I have however noticed that the shock boot pinches between the shock and the UCA when I jack the car up, so that's worth keeping an eye on. Thanks for the comment!

    • @Craqthump
      @Craqthump 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive ended up having to upgrade the factory uca, I do a far bit of 4x4 camping & the shocks are making to much contact with the oem ones, I went with the snake racing uca's, wich give you more flex & down travel & hopefully more room between the front shocks, a idler arm brace is also a good investment if you lift 40mm or more , put larger tyres on (I run 32 hankook dynapro mt's) & do any rough offroading.

    • @sirjolly81
      @sirjolly81 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just took the Dremel with grinder and made some room for the shocks. The efs elites were rubbing. Re painted and didnt have an issue with the stock UCA rubbing in 40 000km

    • @Craqthump
      @Craqthump 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea i took a grinder to the front edge of the stock uca as well, ran it for about 20k, endend up replacing uca with the snake racing ones, for the extra down travel & cv angle peace of mind

    Hey mate, would the install have been possible without removing the fuel tank, or is it a must do?

    • @mhstagg
      @mhstagg  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely possible to do without dropping the tank. I had to just because the bolt was seized up and needed to get some heat on it.
      If that wasn't the case it would have been simple.
