Wonderful restoration of an iconic model,first came across one in the infants toy box when I started school 60 years ago....... should av knicked it then as I would still have it.

That was tricky for a relatively simple, and sturdy, casting. Looks the part, though, Martin, and that's what counts!

hi martin from a 70 year old boy, i had one of these as a child and have still got one in mint condition, yes the rear body does lean back a bit, its mean't to be like that. this vehicle based on a Leyland hippo. we had loads of fun years ago with these toys.

Hi Martin nice job on the tanker. The blue and yellow look good together and it's great you were able to get the gap between the cab and tank spot on. There's a mechanic on TH-cam in America who has one of those huge Chevy pickup trucks with the duel wheels on the back and when he lifts it up on his hoist the back sags and the gap between the cab and the tray gets wider. Just go's to show the whole chassis must be bending with the weight. I preferer the black tyres than the grey and the axil turned out nice and strait when you put it in the drill there was no wobble at all. Catch you on the next one mate stay safe.👍🏻

Hi Martin geat job on the refueller ,the elonggated hole in second axle is for travelling over rough ground as early six and eight wheelers had only one drive axle,if you got the rear axle on a lump the drive axle could loose traction as the other axle ,hope this makes sense,the dinky scammell army wrecker had both axles floating,,ps liked the coach resto ,regards graham

Martin. the middle wheel hole is an oval so that it always follow the level off the front and rear axel it is easier to fabricate that's way

I have seen the elongated axle slot on the second axle in many castings actually, and a lot of H0 scale plastic trucks. it is indeed to let the truck sit straight on uneven ground so it won't lift the butt or something.
SIKA makes a glueing/sealing compound for auto body work (NEOPLAN buses were half-welded and half-glued together with that stuff). I wonder if one could greate grey tyres out of it like with window glueing compound. then again black tyres look better, so there. :)
