      Hey Dudley,
The Critical Mass ride was a blast and night group rides are fun and riding in a big group is safer than small groups at night. I believe many large cities have Critical Mass group rides.
Thanks for continuing to watching and supporting BBB.

      Hey Rene,
I assume you mean you'll be riding US Highway 20 to RAGBRAI. That's great. When it gets closer we'll have to share schedules and see if our timing lines up.

This isn't a coffee channel... coffee shops tour? 😱
Coffees, bikes and a beer channel is now needed.
That morning group riding seemed like my people.

Howdy. We like coffee...we like beer better and we did manage to find a few beers at the end of that Coffee and Bikes group ride, which was a great time and a very diverse group of people. Well actually, the Critical Mass night ride was also full of very diverse people, bikes, etc.
BTW, Buffalo Bayou Brewing is a great place if you ever find yourself in Houston.
Thanks for continuing to watch BBB and engage with us.

      Hi Ray,
Yes...the Critical Mass Friday night ride was super fun and I was surprised how many people participated. I think there are similar rides in many of the big cities in the US. Maybe you could start one in Taipei. :)
The long long longboard was built by a friend of Jake's (my son) and that guy has a TH-cam channel where he shows how he build that board. It's really good you should check it out. The link to that channel is in the description of this video.
Thanks for watching BBB and thanks for the comment.

The group rides we did in Houston were a blast. We were in Houston for 5 weeks helping Jake and it was the first time we did any real riding there. I was impressed with the bike infrastructure, particularly the Buffalo Bayou Trail.

      Hey Vic,
We found the riding in Houston to be surprisingly good. Lots of bike paths and trails. I'm looking forward to riding there again next time we visit the kids. We have two kids that live in Houston and we will likely return in the spring to hang out with them. We'd love to connect with you when we are there.
If you are ever hanging around downtown Houston near the University of Houston, stop by our son's (Jake Cooper) business and say "hi" to him.

I rode through downtown Houston with my 15yo son today and had so much fun on the trails and paths around and right through the center of downtown. It was amazing fun, and I can't wait to do it again! I found your video while looking for any other ideas for rides around h town. I've been in traffic around a critical mass (or similar) ride. It looks like a lot of fun, but idk if I'd do that

      Hey Matt,
Right on!! The bike lanes and trails in Houston are amazing. We were so impressed and happy the first time we tried them. You should absolutely try a Critical Mass. It's a blast. We'll be returning to Houston for a few weeks in January and are hoping to catch the Critical Mass ride on January 26. Also, there is a group Coffee and Bikes that hosts rides in Houston you might be interested in.
      Thanks for watching.

@@NercNerd84 I would recommend a couple of ways. First find Clutch City Cruisers at clutchcitycruisers.com. They organize some big group rides. Second, reach out to our son (Jake Cooper) at Rent eBoards Houston 281-406-0155, they both organize rides as well as participate in many group rides.

I live in Houston and have been on many Critical Mass rides. This video doesn't even come close to showing how many people show up for these. Not a criticism. Don't think that. Just saying Critical Mass is huge.

For sure!!! The critical mass ride was crazy and as you point out, there were a TON of people participating. I'm looking forward to my next opportunity to ride it. We'll be in Houston in January hanging out with our kids there so maybe we'll get another opportunity for a critical mass ride.

First - Houston and the bike scene looks wonderful. Bike lanes that don't have monster potholes to suck you down to the nether regions of the Earth! Second - I'll see you at RAGBRAI this year! Can't wait. Since I am a first-year rider there how much cash should I budget for the week? Keep the videos coming!

      Hi Stephen,
We were really impressed with the riding in Houston. The group rides were fun and the cycling infrastructure is very nice and seems to be constantly improving and expanding.
Super excited you are joining RAGBRAI. I recall you were trying to get a reservation with Pork Belly, did you get one? If you don't have a group name, you can use Buses Bikes and Beers as your group.
In terms of cash, it depends on how much beer you plan on drinking and if you are getting any meals with Pork Belly. We typically buy all the dinners with Pork Belly because it's so convenient. I would say you need between $30 and $50 a day for food/snacks. Beers are typically $5 to $7. We probably stop 5 to 7 times a day at a town or craft beer stop. ATMs are available in larger towns but not smaller ones so it doesn't hurt to have a bit of extra cash.
Let us know if you have any other questions as you continue to prepare. Our email is in the "about" section of the Buses Bikes and Beers TH-cam page.
      So excited for you.
      Enjoy the Ride

This does not seem the safest event for cyclists. Reminds me of "the goat" motorcycle rider. Little snack before we leave (dispensary in background). Lol. Wear a helmet and clothes that are not black!!!! Love the sleep bed in the white blazer/bronco. Yes....enjoy the day at a coffee shop. Some serious caffine dancing is going on, hey, let's add beer. VROOOOOOM. Tour de Houston pavers.

    • @BBB_Adventures
      @BBB_Adventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David,
Perhaps not the safest ride but it was pretty fun riding in a group in Houston. Many of the riders we being safe and making good decisions, others not so much and vast majority of the car drivers were patience and courteous. I'm sure having to wait for a large group of riders can be frustrating. But, yes, wearing black cycling attire isn't the best choice if your goal is to be seen by others.
The Coffee and Bikes ride was also a blast and it was fun to ride with my daughter. The white vehicle was some sort of Toyota Landcruiser and had a very creative build.
Drinking a bunch of coffee in the morning must be offset with a few beers in the afternoon. :)
I'm glad you're watching and enjoying these older episodes.
Thank you so much for watching and supporting BBB Adventures.

@BBB Adventures Got the bowflex bike up and running, and it is no wahoo, but I love the aspect of fully adjustable seat and bars for the reason of bike fit. The $150 price tag was a gift for sure. Ragbrai fitness schedule said they want 30 miles this week, so here we go. 10f outside and windy. The videos are good entertainment, nice selection of music and beer. Be well and keep pedaling.

      Hi Jay,
We've enjoyed the riding we've done in Houston. A majority of it on the bike trails or bike lanes like the Buffalo Bayou. But as you point out, some of the surface streets are busy and a cyclist must be very careful.
