I moved to Dallas, Texas in 2008 to do this very thing. Change my life. My entire family for 100 years did not move from St. Louis. Not a single person ever left there, the place where they were born. My life was all the same before....same friends, same places to go to, same roads to travel on, same outlooks.....same..same. I lived in Dallas for 10 years before going to the Cincy area. I want to move back though to Dallas some day. I also did not have much money when moving but had a friend who let me stay with them for awhile before getting my own place. My tips for moving. 1. Have a job lined up 2. Have a place to live lined up 3. Have more money saved up than you think you will need to get settled. Stuff happens. 3K to 8K 4. Join social clubs like meetups 5. Get one very good friend if possible 6. Get AAA for car breakdowns 7. Put yourself out there. Drive around your new city for hours looking for future places to go to 8. Go to restaraunts and talk to people 9. Talk to people, talk to people, talk to people. You never know who you might meet who could help you get a job, date, future spouse, etc etc 10. Be open to new experiences 11. Research the city you want to move to. Watch tons of videos showing the city. Join City-Data.com and look at the forums on your city. 12. Research cost of living websites that tell you how much you will need to make in your new city to live the same way or better from your old one. Texas is AWESOME for growth because it's so big. It has so MANY possibilities because there are so many jobs and industries in Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio and other cities.
I only had to watch 2 minutes of your video to completely identify with you. I did the same thing in 1994. I moved from San Jose California with the company I was with at the time. Moved to Austin first. Met my wife and started a family there. Then in 1999 we moved to Houston. I started a manufacturing business there and never looked back. Texas has been so good to me in so many ways.
I move to houston next month and I am so scared! But you’re right! I can’t expect change if I don’t break my routine! Thank you so much for this video! ❤
I plan on moving to Houston next year and I’m really concerned about finding a decent paying job since minimum wage is $13/hr. I’m thinking about getting a server job while I figure it out
You'll find a job easily in Houston. Dallas has a very small and terrible job market and it's nearly impossible to find a good job. It's like El Paso's job market in Dallas.
You are so real and authentic. I needed to hear your message today. I grew up in Houston so I know what you went through. It's a tough city. But if you find your niche, you will be good. . Find your tribe. Your words were so inspiring. You made me look at myself today and say...'What are you doing? What are doing it for?'
The affirmations throughout this entire video is EXACTLY what I needed. Never know if you don't try and Houston has been tugging on my spirit for 2 years now. Thank you so much! I'm coming to my new home.
I grew up here born and raised. It’s not the Houston I am from anymore. Most people aren’t from here. I returned after college in NYC and it was unrecognizable (even physically, where did half of these skyscrapers come from??) so it felt hard fitting in again or making friends since most of mine left for college too. But it’s a great place full of great people. Welcome to Houston. Your suffering through our summer will be rewarded this winter I promise you lol ❤️
I moved to Houston in 2016. Luckily I had a job when I got here because I would have been homeless. Anyway, Coming from being homeless in California I’m in a better place, however, I’m stuck. No car, mediocre job making $18.50, living paycheck to paycheck. That being said it doesn’t mean I’m lazy or don’t have dreams. I’m in college and it is going to take time. Overall, I’m thankful for being in Houston.

Hey! I’ve been following you and watching your videos for a while now. I am also a NY native (845) transitioning to Houston. Your videos are so inspirational and motivating. Continue doing what you’re doing; never give up. Thank you so much.
What made you leave nyc ? I’m considering Houston and nyc to move to. I’m in Florida and need a change somewhere to grow in opportunity. I love the city life of nyc but I’m worried about how expensive it is and I can do a lot in Houston plus live in a nice affordable space
I’ve been researching a ton for moving to Texas and Houston is one of my options. This video really helped me understand the pros in changing my environment because being stagnant and never changing is one of my greatest anxieties that I’ve been dealing with. Thank you for your video sir, God bless 🙌🏻
This video is confirmation that I need to make that move to Texas for Nursing school and to rediscover my passions and hobbies. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation about going outside of your comfort zone.
I am from LA but I lived there in 2015 and came back to California but in my spirit Houston is in my thoughts. It does have a lot of opportunities especially in medical field since they have the biggest medical center in the world. Only thing for me is the heat. Every time I go to Houston I always seem to get a new spiritual experience.
Valuable video as always bro 💯 Sometimes it takes a change of environment to allow us to reimagine and shape our overall perspectives! “StayTrueToSelf”
I lived in Houston from 1996 to 2008 and then for my middle school & high school years I lived in Denver. Then in 2016-2019, I lived in Dublin,Ireland and now back in Colorado. I’m glad you’re enjoying Houston
Oh man, Jeroy...you and I are brothers from the same Father. I was pulled to Houston. Took a blind leap of faith because I KNEW we were supposed to be here. It was the biggest faith risk I took and wow, am I so glad I took the leap into what the Lord had for us. Incredible change of life, both spiritual and physical. We piled what we could in our Toyota and stayed in a corporate apartment for 3 months. I didn't even have a job lined up when we decided to pull the trigger on the move, but the Lord opened a job up while we were on our way to town. Our needs have been met every step of the way. It's surreal to really and truly rely on your next steps to be guided by the Lord. He's incredibly faithful. My wife and my faith have been supercharged in a way not possible by playing it safe had we stayed behind in our old life and state. I'd sure love to meet up with you and compare notes. We took identical leaps of faith just a year apart...2017 for us. Welcome to Houston!

Amen to all that you said brother. My wife and I sold our farm in Illinois and moved to Conroe Texas. This is a state like none we've ever been to. In every aspect. There's a sense of almost family with complete strangers, not all but most. I have a construction company so I'm all over the place, from Sugarland up to Centerville and from Cleveland to Tomball and everywhere within. Division by socialstatus, race, and politics became our ruination in Illinois we had to ,like you said, take the leap of faith and find our personal promise land ,for lack of a better word. Everyday, two years later,It's been and still is an interesting experience to say the least, its welcoming, nobody pays any mind to what anyone else is doing, i love it. , We love native Texans, they're Real.. like your shirt reads. I hear the concerns of the native Texans every now and then and I can't help but smile, based on the chaos and negativity we left behind, its like comparing an old episode of the twilight zone with the exorcist lol. So far,two of our six kids have moved down here too,God willing they will all make the choice to leave the familiar all behind and get where they can think freely, believe freely, and like you said, put their work ethic where they are paid very well, with no state income tax to boot, and where there's no doubt no better job opportunities than anywhere else in America. Love it here,it's home. We'll never leave Texas. You're a great ambassador for Texas brother, God bless ya.

Mannnnn…..God bless you and your family🙌
I moved to Houston somewhat out of the blue, and it was great for me, too. I needed a change and it was that. Didn't know anyone here
