Brilliant. I am struggling to redo my Mercedes axles because the internet says that outboard end can't be rebuilt. I have made a custom axle shaft that uses a Ford inboard joint and the factory R219 outboard. I just need to put them back together with new circlips.
How would u know if a ball has fallen back into the cup again? On the hub side? Would it not move around as freely as it would if all the balls where in there?
@@GimpSlayerGeneral the question was about the lenght of axles on different sides, which are identical(doesn’t matter if they are for 168mm or 188mm or even 210mm diff)
@@jerseytim100 was being very sarcastic, sorry. Thanks for taking the time to make the information available. I am in the process of doing my driveshafts. I'm going to try using a cake decorating pipe bag for the grease packing aspect, see how that goes. cheers..

I hope it works for you. Once you get the feel of the bearings they go together quite well
Awesome information! This means i Can use my snapped axles outer joint that just broke on my new axle
Yes as long as they are the same size. It’s a messy job but easy to do once you get the knack of it

You would know if a ball had fallen out and I you would see it from the side you are pushing them in
what brand of covers did you use?
Any ideas to identify driver vs passenger shaft?
I have some in parts with no notes or markings.
No idea, I usually cable tie the drivers side
On e36 they are identical?
@@arvis97 Yes on e36 left and right shafts are identical (same serial number)
@@arvis97 Depends on which variant of e36..Not all driveshafts are the same length, depending on engine size.

Thank you for making this simple job look like brain surgery..
@@GimpSlayerGeneral it is far from simple, I am trying to show that it can be done
