Piano Concerto No 20 in D minor K 466
Maria João Pires, piano.
Daniel Harding conducts Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra
Allegro 0:00
Romanze 15:28
Allegro assai 24:13
The best part of this performance is being interrupted by a Wal-mart commercial every 4 minutes. So uplifting.
That's exactly why I got a TH-cam subscription. I really couldn't deal with all the advertisements anymore 🙈 it's so nice not having to deal with them anymore.
@MajahetBijtje yeah theyre pretty annoying...
if you watch videos on a computer, though, you could just get an ad blocker for free
There are free blockers on telephone too.
What about blocking ads or using the Brave Browser?
this platform (realised by us!) is without any sense of dignity ...
Was playing this video to sleep and got a heart attack when the piano faded away to a commercial break with volume on 500%. So pleasant
If you use TH-cam like this, might as well sign up for premium. It's better than Spotify for me
I like that she is not 'acting', or showing us how much she 'feels the music'. Just pure skill, that's it.
definitely
can't get Lang Lang's face out of my head while reading this comment :)
But what’s wrong in showing how much you feel the music?
If it is authentic, why not?
🤣🤣@@shmse4582
@@helenaeinsfeld5797 not really, the music is not going to be expressive just bc your face. It is expressive when your hands, wrists, arms and mind can play together and you have studied really a lot and really hard
PLEASE take ads off this video!
they could remove ads if they put their minds to it but they probably don't care enough.
“ yeah, she hit a few clams, but after 200 years I’m just grateful someone’s plays this concerto so well”. W A Mozart
lol
I love Maria Joao Pires. She is a very sensitive artist and the best player of all the piano Mozart's concertos. When I hear from her tears brought to my eyes❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The best concreto in music history ❤
Brilliant performance, as always. Maria João Pires is always reliable and at the same time out of this world. I wish I was there.
It is a genuine pleasure to see the appearance of these recordings of Maria Joao Pires. Recordings such as this show her extraordinary sensitivity to the nuances of the music, and magnificent tonal control. I am always impressed by her dynamic range and depth of understanding.
1) Allegro - 00:04
( Piano entrance - 2:33;
Cadenza by Beethoven - 11:44)
2) Romanze - 15:29
3) Rondo, Allegro assai - 24:14
Wow I’m soooooooooooooooooo happy that an add on cars just pops out of nowhere in my favourite section.
So touching. The years of the pianist tells us what music should be like. The wrinkles of hands shows us how she has led her life, which deepens the music with freedom.
Her touch exquisite, very soft. Her hands up and down as spiders making a beauty embroidered or brocade. 🥰
That's her specialty, as far as I'm concerned.
Simply the best...
heaven in heart .
I'm impressed with this performance ♥♥♥ How amazing She is ! 🥺The true spiritual artist! ♥♥♥ Thank you for this magical journey into the world of music♥♥♥
GRAZIE
I love how the orchestra listens and is so committed to the music, of vours Pires commands the highest level of playing, she is terrific, still the orchestra is superb in building up the tension and showing the composition to it s limit, bravi tutti
You should hear Mitsuko Uchida play the same piece.
This is probably the best composition of Mozart for the piano and orchestra. Maria Joao is an incredibly talented musician i want to learn from. The engineer sound recording and the conductor did not deserve her.
Total agree with you! Probably the best Mozart composition for piano and orchestra!
Together with concerto 9,23 & 24 I think
@@amirmaimon9178 Yes, some of these concerti are jewels. But mozart also wrote a lot of commercial cr.. because he had to make a living. It's undeniable that his system of composition was very narrow and non evolutive. That allowed him to be efficient in writing entire symphonies in only two weeks. In that limited system of his, he did write some beautiful music but so much of his music follows the same old recipe that gets boring. Of all well known composers, i believe he is the most over rated with Beethoven. He was not that great, he just kept his system tight, not deviating or exploring different approaches. This allowed him to always be productive. But his predictable trills and cadences can be boring to death.
his audiences did not make any such critiques. rather as time and music have evolved musicians have found complexities in Mozarts work unsuspected by his contemporaries
Maria João Pires is one of those very few pianists who can really play Mozart! So moving! (Haskil, Anda, Uchida - any others?)

Amazing 👏
Alternance minor / major, tension / release
this first movement is for me one ot the best construction of classic music: deep and easy to understand !
All is told in a synthetic way (Mozart was more synthetic than other genius like Beethoven or Schubert)

Amazing Mozart Concert.Brave🌹👏👏👏
Muito bom ouvir Maria João.
This is played very lovely and feels light, and great tempo.
Beautiful ❤
😳wauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu love it💕
Thank you for your wonderful interpretation. So delicate nuances and powerful, warm playing. It's a pleasure to listen to you. All the best and warm greetings from Hamburg! Christian
Brava!!!

Bravo mozart adoro este concerto Brasil
Cudowne, świetne! Zawsze wzorcowe!
Bravo maria joao
She plays so good you guys should listen her play Clair de lune so good
I think cadenza in the first movement is by Beethoven and I can hear his piano concerto c-minor there too.
Preciosa maria te amo.
Life!!!!
Yeah, and she is not dressed provocatively, either. Which makes her so much more respectable with her talent and character. Bravo...
Slow but awesome!!!!!!
Still blows my mind that most pianists play Beethoven's cadenzas. It's like Mozart and Beethoven have been melded into one.
correct concerto this time 😂
This swift little “artisticka” lady plays REAL SOULFUL GOOD; bringing out the best in Mozart. PWG. P.S. the creases in her forehead and under her eyes are like celestial brackets and parentheses.
The Swedes and Maria play Mozart as it should be: on the brink of life and death...with the utmost urgency ...as if the future of humanity depends on it!

Her performance reminds me the other greatest No. 20 by Clara Haskil.
Sovrana e divina
I am a big fan of Maria Joao Pires and love the soul, passion and clarity she brings to this wonderful music. The only thing that bothers me is the cadenza in the first movement, to me it is , as we say in German, a „Fremdkörper“. Isn‘t there a cadenza that sounds more like Mozart?
The cadenza is symbolic - written by Beethoven which loved Mozart concerto 20&24
19:15
A breathtaking fact about this performance, Maria Pires had prepared another concerto and she was all shocked when the orchestra started playing this one.
🎹🎼❤
❤❤❤💜
🌹🌹🌹❤
When and where?
cadenza of Beethoven !?why and how?
If I am not mistaken this is the piece she was suposed to play in that concert were there was a mistake and she ended up playing something she wasnt expecting.
Yes, this is what she unexpectedly (for her) ended up playing. She did an excellent job, but it was of course mildly traumatic when she suddenly realized what she was up against. Hardly surprising.
The orchestra should have pranked her and started with 488.
👍🏻

Welcome to the Beethoven Piano Concerto No.00
Is she better than Martha Argerich? PLMK.
The people who insert advertisements into classical music on TH-cam are those who have never been to a classical music concert in their lives. And if by chance they are there, they will definitely clap after the first and second parts of the classical concert. Complete ignorance and shame to insert advertisements in the middle of the music, and not during pauses between parts/movements of the concert genre!! Simply DISGUSTING!!!
It is nice to hear a slower tempo for this. Uchida plays it very tempestuously as, in my opinion, it should be played. However, it is nice to be slowed down and hear the simplistic intricacies of Mozart-especially the scales in the left hand towards the end of movement one (11:00). I did not like her interpretation of Beethoven’s cadenza, I feel as if Uchida played it much more elegantly.
A veces las comparaciones son odiosas.
