Absolutely incredible performance. Mind blowing sound engineering. And all for free from the Frankfurt Radio Symphony? The classical music world thanks you!
What a pianist. We were honored with his appearance here in Florida this winter. A stunning performer and played Chopin like he was his brother. Think of the thousands and thousands of hours of drills, practice and rehearsals to get to this level. And he’s no introvert; he addressed the audience before his pieces, providing some background and introducing himself, as if he wasn’t already in a packed hall of eagerly awaiting listeners.
This is an excellent performance, bravo! Very balanced, tragic, but beautifully, significant, but elegant, singing, flowing, very transparent, always bringing out the important lines. Excellent orchestral playing, wonderful support for the soloists, real chamber music. Beautiful dark sound and great phrasing. Seems that everybody shares the same idea about the piece. Excellent! An extra bravo for the sound engineers, camera and video director.
Probably the most impassioned and aggressive performance of this masterpiece I’ve ever seen or heard. Bravissimi! Thank you Frankfurt Radio Symphony, and Emmanuel Ax.
Mozart at its best!
It's always a big pleasure to see Emanuel Ax, whose technique and feeling are superb. And the Sinphonieorchester added to it with this excellent rendition of this Mozart's pearl. Bravo all!

The Frankfurt Radio Symphony always delivers superb recordings with the best acoustics and the best musicians! I appreciate the use of natural horns, likely for more authenticity -it is well appreciated!
The piano variation from 16:52 to 17:22 is so beautifully played with an articulation and phrasing not heard before in other renditions. Ax has a unique and unmatched style.
Wunderbar!
Director Arkham and the orchestra are superb and Emmanuel Ax is simply great; this is one of those Mozart works so close to perfect beauty when played like this!
Brilliant performance by all parties, the Conductor, the distinguished soloist and the fabulous Orchestra. I do hope the good people of Frankfurt appreciate the artistry and brilliance of their fine orchestra. I live in the UK, but I am in no doubt that German orchestras, in general, are the best in the world.
@@constantouwerkerk4763 My favourite orchestra in the world: when I can afford it I fly from London where I live to Amsterdam to hear them.... they are the class act of class acts... astounding. I heard them live doing Mahler once, and I will never forget it.
That was really great! I wonder why the horns and trumpets were natural and the rest were all modern instruments. Also, the cadenza in the first movement was by Beethoven. I wonder whose cadenza he played in the third movement.
Klavierkonzert d-moll KV 466? Greetings from Bulgaria!
Can you see how Mr. Ax is part of the orchestra? Trifonov, Zimernan, argerich, et. al., are great pianists, but they are soloists. I'm not saying that's bad. I just like how Ax always makes himself a member of the orchestra.
Thank you Mark Sukerberg for your Magnificent Internet. Without which all this Century would have been impossible. You Mark Sukerberg Made my 3/4 Century glorious. Like adding depth through binoculars, when I listen to both E Ax and Rudolf Buchbinder playing this concerto, I seem to get an even better experience. Different interpretations are wonderful. There is no one best.thanks for uploading.
Ax is especialist with Brahms and Buchbinder with Mozart. All movements are slowly. The titles are incorrect. Brilliant valse is valse del adieu, op. 69
Ok. Perdonado.
I know Emanuel Ax is a gifted pianist but the coda in the last movement sounded a little unconventional. I can't say good or bad about this particular performance. I love Mitsuko Uchida's performance better.
Modern piano, modern strings and woodwinds but period brass? Curious about who made that decision? To my ear it sounds weird. I would prefer all period or all modern.

Piano concerts from #20 to #27 are the sweetest part of late Mozart's heritage... they never stop to please me

D minor is the perfect key. Dark yet beautiful, musical yet emotional.
I agree wholeheartedly, endless mood possibilities - I'm thinking of the great chaconne as i write.
Bella orchestra,gran pianista,infinito MOZART.
Great concert ...bravo the pianist and the orchestra🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Podría escucharlo ciento de veces y no me cansaría, felicitaciones
Quite exquisite! Best performance ever of the 20! The trumpets awesome and Ax at his best!
Mozart's melody is marvellous , splendid and beyond description .

3rd mvt cadenza by Hummel
Clara Andrada della Calle sounds as always the best!
Gosh! She's so good she can steal the show from any solist!

Axcellent performance of this excellent concerto. Thank you!
Very nice. You can really tell who Hummel's greatest musical influence was.
Hummel was Mozart's pupil, but more importantly this was Beethoven's favourite concerto.
The conductor is definitely there, but this musicians are so talented I don't even think he's needed.
Not at all.Look and Listen!
What a delight! Most grateful.
The 20concerto is one of my favorites. This interpretation is obviously beyond the limits.. The cadenza refers to Bach, as for me.

So dramatic, I love it
I love the Allegro açai 😍🎻❤️
Does anybody know which cadence he is playing in the third movement just before the end?
Is it the Hummel cadenza?

In 1795 Beethoven played this to raise money for Mozart's destitute widow Constanze.

Certainly looks a little strange. I would like to know the rational as well.

Sorry, stupid question ahead: is this Beethoven's cadenza in the first movement?
Yes it is, and it's not a stupid question
