    Video Description...
Tom Rowland shows step by step instructions to tie the Haywire Twist knot for attaching a hook or swivel to solid wire. Fish like Sharks, Barracuda, Mackerel, Wahoo, and Goliath Grouper have big teeth and can cut through multistrand wire and monofiliment. The Haywaire Twist is the go to knot for solid wire.

If any of you know what a pair of safety wire pliers are, you can tie this Haywire twist in about 30 seconds...And it comes out looking like it was done in the factory, and no finger pain/cuts...

What size wire is that? Approximately anyway…

How do you generally like to connect the other end of the wire to your main line? I fish from a kayak for King Mackerel in the Panhandle and I have always used a standard stringer hook rig with single strand wire (30 something to 60 something pound I think) with a 3-5 foot wire from the first hook to a flat black swivel. I still have occasional problems with cut offs, but I think it is because the swivel. Should I be using a short, maybe 6", wire then to a heavy mono or fluorocarbon leader with out the swivel? I've never been officially taught or fished with some one experienced in offshore kayak fishing, but have done well in hands on experience so far!

+Daniel Russell Check out my video on the Alberto knot. I like that one alot, but the standard for a long time was an Albright. I will also sometimes do another haywire to a small swivel and them tie a uni or clinch to the swivel if the bait twists at all

Haven't fished with wire yet. Interesting that just the twists keep it all together and strong

But, but, I was convinced on TH-cam that I couldn't do that twist without buying a $600 tool.

Thanks, I look forward to your videos every week! What kind of hook is that? Size? I've been looking for a treble hook replacement for 2-5 oz lures. I know you can use the VMC inline hooks, but at a 1.00 a piece, (4/0) I was looking for something a little cheaper.
