@@Max_RO1 well, I disagree. Left foot braking is when you have to physically switch between the clutch and the brake thus making it a technique that one would need to master.
The lack of a roaring engine some how makes this more visceral as its just that brutal acceleration and road sounds. Wow. Just wow. That driver has laser focus to survive that and get that car around like that. Mind blown.
I was gripping the edge of my desk watching him drive the whole way around. Absolutely fantastic driving, and agreed the sound makes it more gripping!!!
Agreed. The sheer physics of what's happening are on greater display. I feel like you can get a much better sense of the level of grip this way as well.
When it looks astoundingly fast on video.... you know performance like that would melt your brain and batter your body in real life. Kudos to the driver. Amazing! 👏 👏
Hats off, Dirk Müller ! As many said already, in various ways : this looked like an incredibly fast lap. So close to unreal, in fact ! Thanks for "raw" footage and sound, it helps realise that this video isn't played faster than it was filmed.
Blah blah blah.... This Lotus is NOT a "production car" at all! If you want to see what's really "unreal", just watch Timo Bernhards record lap in the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo. This lap was on a totally new level! With more than 2000 hp from four electric motors in a very light car, a lap time of "only 6:24 min." isn't that impressive at all! This is only 20 seconds faster than with a Porsche 911 GT2 RS (Generation 991) from five years ago.... The forthcoming new Porsche 992 GT2 RS most certainly will beat the Lotus Evija lap time.... With not even half of the Lotus power. Just think about that?!
@user-jf8gd3lv7q you sound quite angry and dismissive about someone just posting their own opinion with your reply..its as if you think there opinion isn't worth the time of day and your opinion trumps everyone else.
@@Porsche1969 also fun fact the porsche is a lmp1 car with no rules and it costs more then lotus to even make. This is a fantastic lap from a pure British car company so stop being stupid

I think all that acceleration (which will make shit into the pants in most of us) is kinda a necessity for the recharging even in not fast tracks... I'm not follow a lot the electric cars but I think is that the reason for such accelerations
I have to wonder just how much faster you could possibly drive the ring. The acceleration on this car is pure nuts and the speed he carried thru many of those corners was gut churning
LMAO this is a race car on slick tires and huge downforce, far less weight, totally stripped out and heavily modified, and totally road illegal. Rimac is a comfortable GT car that was fully stock and road legal that weighs 2,5 tons (actually 2.7 in the record car since it carried a bunch of diagnostic gear still) and a battery with a range of 600km. This Lotus is totally stripped out, literally doesn't have an interior, and has a small battery for a single lap. It's a purpose built car for a single lap run, and heavily modified, and nowhere near being a stock road car. Rimac did the lap and then went on to cruise around Europe for more promo after it. Considering how badly the Rimac was driven too, nowhere near the limit, as that car can realistically do a 6:45 lap if not driven as badly as it was, the gap between these two is too small. Makes the Rimac look even more impressive if anything. This Lotus should be like 1 minute per lap faster and realistically it's around 20 seconds. Point being, this is like comparing a Bentley Continental GT and a GT3 race car.
Evija X is 40 SECONDS faster than Nevera! Too bad it's not street legal... That makes it allmost useless record! Porsche 919 Hybrid Recordcar was much faster with 5.19min Laptime if I remember correctly...🤔
@@einautofan6685 More to the point, an AMG ONE did an almost as fast lap on a track that was semi-wet, and that car weighs more than the Lotus, has less than 1/3 of the downforce, and has 1/2 the power-to-weight ratio. All facts point to the Lotus actually being very slow for what it is, a GT3 style race car but with twice the downforce (4.5 tons at top speed) and with 2000hp instead of 500-600hp, yet it's no faster than GT3 race cars.
still wild to see this kind of speed without hearing the screams of an IC engine in the mix. It almost feels like the first time I saw an EV under power pulling away from the coffee shop years ago. just a wierd silence and a mental disconnect. Sadly the owner of that EV killed himself a few years later. He was a researcher into alternative fuels, and a nice guy.
No music, no flashy drone footage, this is how you do a track video! Take this thing to Bathurst next, or Laguna Seca..
I’m not sure a drone could keep up anyway 😂

@@Max_RO1 well, I disagree. Left foot braking is when you have to physically switch between the clutch and the brake thus making it a technique that one would need to master.
@@Calyx ….And while that may be partly true it’s irrelevant as the driver in this video still used their left foot to brake hence left foot braking.

300 through foxhole, 270 at the compression.
Absolute madness.
