    In this video I share my experience buying a Leica Q and shooting it for the past 6 months. In this review I will show you if the Leica Q worth the money in 2021 or is it still overpriced? In this review I show sample images and what I love and hate about the Leica. If you're a street photographer, wedding photographer, or just looking for a travel camera the Leica Q is still an option worth exploring. Hopefully this review and my experience with the Q helps you in your decision process of buying the perfect camera for you.

    Its image quality is too perfect for me🤣 It feels too digital like other cameras like Sony. I'm still using it but I prefer the M10 because of the blackout-free optical viewfinder (I don't like EVFs) and the possibility of using lenses with character. But I understand how people can love the Q image quality. Its images are three-dimensional, it's 100% silent and the lens has distance scale and focus tab! Perfect for street shooting! What I don't understand is how people repeat again and again about the Q being very expensive. Is it just because is Leica? It costs second hand under 3000$ (at least in Japan). If you buy equipment that match this image quality from other brands (body + a lens like the Q lens) you're paying about the same amount of money and literally nobody is saying it's expensive. Only when talking about Leica🤔

    • @DominicPhillip

      I honestly havn’t had the pleasure of shooting the M10 yet but can’t wait till i can! I too absolutely love an optical viewfinder, which is one of the reasons why I love the Fuji X line. I think in terms of price and people saying it’s expensive is all relative you know? Someone coming from a $600 m50 will not be able to justify this much money on a fixed lens camera. I do agree though, that comparatively this camera is a fantastic value in terms of image quality and lens quality. Thanks for watching!

      @TENGUJAPON 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DominicPhillip Fuji X line is amazing! The x-pro3 Dura Silver is my favorite digital camera in terms of aesthetics. The M10 is really easy to use if you like to shoot at f/8. You can focus at zones just by knowing where the focus tab is, by feeling. But if you like to shoot wide open, the Q is more confortable, at least for me. And you said something other reviewers don't say. Most people say the Q is not good for autofocusing, it's slow. But you said its autofocus is fast enough and I think the same than you. I've never had problems using autofocus with the Q. I've not used Continuous AF but at least the single point AF is snappy. The only time I've missed focus with the Q was because the focus point wasn't in the correct place, but that's human error.

    • @DominicPhillip
      @DominicPhillip  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TENGUJAPON I saw a lot of people saying it’s slow too! I disagree, especially for a camera that old. The original Fuji x100 was slow, this is still plenty fast to get most shots. I wouldn’t use it for sports or anything fast action, but you wouldn’t use a 28mm for that anyway right? Cheers, send over some links, I’d love to see your shots!

    A year ago, I too bought a six-year-old Q in absolute mint condition for 2,200 USD. I was looking for a 28 mm Summilux for my M 240, but decided to take the Q instead. It's a great performing camera, and I agree in your POV. The lens tub will sooner or later fall off, so I store it in the box. The video mode isn't that bad. I've been shooting some short scenes, for an online newspaper, and both image and sound quality were OK. For a whole day shooting, one or better, two extra batteries should be in your camera bag/pocket. And remember: the quality will remain long after the price is forgotten. Keep on rolling!

      Hi Paul, thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers on an awesome deal you found on a Q! I think a lot of people don’t realize how expensive that 28mm Summilux is on it’s own. I love my Q of course. I put my cap away, and replaced with a foam cap, after metal cap kept falling off on a walk. My other camera is a Sony A7Riii with a Leica 90 summicron, which is butter. Peak design bag 15 with Two cameras, and Wotancraft with Q only, advaita vedanta consciousness (Ken Wilber spiral dynamics and more consciousness) with Henri Cartier Bresson compositional lessons, and I am in Nirvana. I am blessed, “perceived beauty is love.” “When you spot it, you got it.” Ditto other comment on macro lens, fun, function button set to exposure compensation,. Big photo color corrected monitor connected to a gaming level laptop, with iPad and apps (go art is fun), small surface laptop for travel, with little portable external hardrive. Eyeing the Leica M11 with viewfinder. I am set for life. “Desire is the source of suffering,” but go Fuji if budget doesn’t allow or can’t find a Q. Create pleasure, and generate good brain chemicals, and practice self love otherwise., in any case.

      @@DominicPhillip my photography friend has a Leica M10 Monochrom. It costs about 4x of Q2. I think I would pick up Q2 over M10. If I need more versatile, I would choose SL2 over M. Currently I have a Lumix S1R with zooms covering from 16 to 200mm FL. I am happy with what I have. I might get a Q2 later to replace my Q-P, as I like the user interface of Q2: simpler UI with better EVF. Would you recommend the FE50 1.2 as portrait lens combined with this 28mm lens from the leica? I am debatting with myself using only 28 and 50 1.2 for everything (like family, weddings ....) I would love a q2 with 50mm as a second camera. M camera is not an option for me because I need AF (kids ... ^^)

      I love my 50 1.2 for portraits and events! It’s a great lens and i shoot it a ton, however if you want to shoot weddings you’ll need a lot more flexibility. For that reason i always recommend a 35, 50, 85 combo and a wide, or something like a 24-70 2.8 to cover your bases. Just too much variability once you get going on different locations and sizes of rooms. Hope that helps

I'm not a pixel peeper, I don't blow up massive prints, I certainly don't need a Leica, but simple fact is I want one. I figure the way things have been the last few years you never know what's coming next, life is short and fragile, Q2 is the one for me. I've seen one on a local auction site 2k NZD cheaper than a newby, but the seller has lost the charger, so can't show me the camera actually works, If it were a mechanical film camera I'd have no issues, but buying used digital concerns me, too much that can go wrong, so I think I'll sell the extra kidney and buy new. ah, you have taken a bite out of the Leica apple! I resisted for 40 years, shooting Nikon, Sony, Fuji, and then I picked up an SL, and started the seduction, first you get seduced by the build quality, then the obsession on providing what is needed to take photos, add on some special glass and with the Leica color and such, one begins to seduction of the images, I ended up going up the Leica S,, talk about photography focus (one single focus point), but oh my the S line of lens,, crazy, then the CL,, my absolute favorite in travel camera, the budget Leica that you can mix leica lens, and quality Sigma primes/zoom to create an ultra compact and yet affordable kit, darn, then came the nagging thought, what is it about the rangefinder, ,,, M10 later, yes the focus patch is wonky, but dam with technique and practice you start nailing street shots on the go, and it is like photography nirvana, and then this Q, the whole feel of the camera completes the Leica journey, I even love the macro setup, maybe odd, but soo cool to twist and have a different lens. So, yes, I love my Z9 the Fujis are cute, yes I love the built in Neutral density filter for water falls shots),, but as a system, the best word for me of the Leica is well Fun. They are just fun. I have an old Canon 40D with a few lenses that I want to trade in. Shop has a 2nd one that needs about £900 on top.
    I’m seriously tempted with this. Coming from multiple zooms I scared I’ll miss them. However for what I normally shoot, street, landscape and some portraits of my daughter, I think I can make this work.
