WOW 39 thumbs down. Probably from people that just want to see an african city depicted as famine and crime ridden instead of something more positive like this promo. I was in Lagos in the 80's and the city was already pretty developed compared to other west african cities. It's good to see that they are pushing further.

Why do people actually give a shit about thumbs up or
Thumbs downs?? My 3 year old daughter randomly clicks videos and may hit the dislike button. Completely useless how many of which are what. Judge the video by your own standards.

***** huh,so you set low standards for Nigerians just because there are some mediocre canals in Amsterdam? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds for a continent that is far behind on so many fronts?
You'll never get anywhere worthwhile if you set your benchmarks against underachievers.

Aezured hi! We cannot compare whole thing that Lagos and manila are same... interms of modernization, infrastrture, cleanliness and landscape. I can say lagos is same to one area only in Manila where a lot of slums.. but not whole manila.. Manila is exciting, energetic, and pop-culture. Even the skycraper of manila is one of the best in asia..

+Juzi Michael You have all the world to be proud to be Nigerian: For starters, a positive, psychological reinforcement to notice everyday of your life as you walk downtown Lagos that everyone looks like you, law enforcement, bankers -- the whole cast. No racist epithets tossed at you. No one asking you "What are you doing in this neighborhood"? ad nauseum. Yes, you have every right to be proud.

Rashaenka Rashaenka we both know you're not Ukrainian, you can keep deceiving other people but not me. Your name isn't Ukrainian, your English isn't of a Ukrainian standard(btw any Ukrainian with your level of English must have lived outside and wouldn't be racist but then you're not racist cos if you were your rants would be targeted at the Nigerian people(blacks) not Nigeria as a country but because you're black you wouldn't do that lol)and trust me I know the Ukrainians they don't care as much as you do about Nigeria 🇳🇬. You're mostly likely African or even Nigerian. Get a life, commenting on TH-cam yields nothing and will not change anything ok. Stop being a keyboard warrior, build up your self esteem, aspire to be sth useful in the world stop being a mediocre. Run for office, start up a business, build a platform for yourself then your voice will heard and taken seriously but for now you're only but a coward, obsessed with your country Nigeria without a valid display pic, a false name and I'm sure you're lonely as fuck.

Majority of it still is, all these beautiful buildings and Infrastructure are inventions of the Caucasian ethnic group, not black. The vast majority of Africa is still in its stone age and uncivilized state. Please don't come with anything negative as I am speaking facts.

***** I have no Idea why I am replying to you, but here goes, I specifically asked a question to the previous person whom i address a question to, you being the individual that you are took it upon yourself to get involve in something that was not address to you, I have no problem since TH-cam is a open and free website where everyone is allowed to voice and make their opinions and beliefs known. With that being said, I asked the question to name one invention that the black man has made "Without Using Caucasian Technology" you have since taken it upon yourself to answer such a question even though you do not have one answer to provide, so what do you do? well you went on the Internet, gave me a link to a website, and then confidently told me to shut the fuck up. Now that you have confidently instructed me to do so, can you now tell me if any of these so called black inventors actually invented anything that has advance the progression of mankind? The first bulb for instance was invented by Thomas Edison, not by Lewis Latimer, LOL, it just goes to show as I stated how quick some black people are to claim things which aren't there's, the information stated that Mr Latimer invented a part of the light bulb, not the light bulb itself, and using the same technology of the white man, he did so only because of the education and theology that came from the Caucasian race, he of himself did not discover the knowledge to conceive and plan out the long process of getting it right and finding out how the process is structured and how to better it in the future. After the first light bulb was invented, it has undergo some major improvements and radical technological designs and advancements that were all done by the White man, with some improvements comming from the Asians as well. Is it not shameful that you provided me with a bunch of what I would call petty inventions that aren't even known globally?, you should be ashamed of yourself, I mean some black guy invented a minor part of a light bulb using white techniques and information and you act like this black guy has invented the Internet or the Car, come on give me a break.

    • @wakandanking9417
      @wakandanking9417 10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Speech was not created by caucasian men. Writing was not created by caucasian men. Law and religion was created by Ethiopia, Architecture was invented by Egyptians, Blacks started international trade, and many modern technologies have been created by blacks. White people may have invented more things. But that is because of climate. Whites had a ton of time to sit inside inventing things, while Africans hunted, did mentally stimulating things, and became more social. You are very ignorant in your claims of whites somehow creating everything.

NIGERIANS TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO THIS!:
    1) Start by building Garbage Treatment Plants in Every City, Town or Sate. Provide Jobs by organising Street Sweeping Vehicles as well as Garbage Trucks that will carry garbage from homes and streets to these Garbage Plants.
    2) Then You must Build Sewage Treatment Plants To carry not only sewage but drainage. Cities must be built with large underground drainage systems not open Gutters. (IN EVERY CITY /TOWN)
    3) You must build Clean Water Purification Plants. All water for drinking and bathing must come from massive reservoirs and water purification plants (centralized locations) where they can be treated germ-free by specified Enginners. (IN EVERY CITY/TOWN)
    4) Also build multiple Gas fired Electric Power Plants - Nigeria flares Gas more than any other country in the world except Russia. All of the gas that has been wasted for many years could have been used to Build multiple Gas Fired Electric Power plants not just to provide electricity for Nigeria alone but for nearby countries. (Electricity is one of the primary keys to industrialization)
    5) Build many high rise Buildings for the lower class. Get rid off all the slums and transport all the garbage from the slums to the garbage treatment plants. Put the lower class citizens in these buildings. Build more high rise buildings for the Middle and Higher class as well. City centers should be with organised high rise buildings with plans for maintenance at least every 10 years. All city roads should be marked and paved neatly, with paved and clean and organised sidewalks! Various City Locations should contain Large Parks, Greeneries and Recreation Areas.
    6) Build multiple oil refineries (NOT JUST ONE AS PLANNED) so that the country can export fuel and petrolchemicals to other countries and make financial profit
    7) Every money the country makes through trade should never be touched by anyone but should be used to Build at least 1 Technologically Advanced Hospital in every State (with plans for continuous maintenance). Hospitals that have the lastest technology in everything! from Organ Transplantation Units, Nuclear Medicine to stem cell research centres. Hospitals were doctors can diagnose a patient's illness immediately (no matter how complex) and have a solution for it, so that Nigerians will not have to die for uselless, ignorant reasons or travel to india or elsewhere to receive treatment. Hospitals or organisations that are capable of sending doctors abroad to learn the latest in Medical Technology and come back to teach other doctors. Like I said before if the country manages its money well, many Nigerians will not even need to pay medical tax.
    8) Train and organise a better Police Force or Financial Security Organisations, Build larger and bigger prisons in every state to punish people who are not sincere (due to greed) over financial matters) otherwise most of the things I have mentioned above will never work.
    9) For larger cities like Lagos. Abuja, Kano & Enugu build underground metropolitan systems to prevent traffic congestion- Think positively, it can be done! Get rid of all the Okadas and replace them with good taxi's (Okadas are one of the main factors of death in Nigeria). Replace all the danfoe buses and molue buses with better, organised buses in the cities. Also make bus stops with organised time schedules too.
    10) Control immigration. Nigerias biggest problem is immigration. Many people come into the country illegally and many Nigerians dont even care nor are they organised to control immigration. Nigeria advertises the country too much like this video and people with poor living conditions pack into the country from nearby countries and because they have no place to lodge themselves, they build more slums and thus slum houses increase more than decent buildings. Lack of proper immigration is also the reason for Boko Haram in Nigeria. Decent Nigerian Muslims have become BokoHaram because other Islamic ideologies sipping into the country's Borders from the North.
    11) Regulate or abolish indecency in Nollywood Movies. Ever since the Nigerian Movie Industry decided to call itself Nollywood it has become like a Pornographic industry (explicit sexual scenes in nollywood movies and homosexuality).
Before Nollywood existed, all Nigerian movies were very decent and very entertaining even without the erotic aspect of it that is portrayed today. Today Nollywood has become so sexually oriented that even the Hollywood industry it tried to copy from looks more sexually decent and organised.
    12) Finally other issues include Birth Control - Abolition of barbaric street killings for simple issues such as stealing - Nigeria should encourage its citizens to be inventive/creative. When any Nigerian citizen invents or creates something, the Nigerian Government takes no interest in the work of that Nigerian person, instead they look for inventions from outside the country (US, Germany, UK....), which is wrong. The Nigerian government must take more interest in the inventions of its talented/creative citizens by assisting them financially because if that is done then Nigeria will be capable of manufacturing its own cars, trains, aircrafts, ships, medical equipment and every other thing they need in a couple of years>> (Industrialization and Self- Sufficiency!)
If Indians are capable of sending a rocket to Mars why shouldnt you?
Everything I have mentioned here will provide more jobs for many Nigerians
My Dear NIgerian Brothers>> Never accuse the countries you trade with as the cause of your problems & Never use difficult situations of other countries as an excuse to remain in your Poverty!
    WAKE UP NIGERIANS! WAKE UP!
    or
    Otherwise Remain were you are!

Would love to visit Nigeria someday. It's a very good thing a lot of these African countries are improving, and Asian countries too. My mom was born in Malaysia, and that country used to be so poor and backwards, but not anymore. Plus my mom has a good friend from Nigeria, and a lot of these Nigerians I met are the kindest most welcoming people I've ever encountered. Nigerians are a proud people, and a lot of Africans I met are the nicest people I've encountered in my life.

Statutory allocation is given to every state by the federal govt and it is based on the population of the state. the 13 million people in Lagos are not 13 million Yoruba but 13 million Nigerians . If not for the 13 million Nigerians Lagos would simply be one poor useless place. Money federal govt didn't give to Lagos was money meant for some new LGAs the Lagos state govt created by the governor which the federal govt didn't recognize Lagos didn't get LGA fund for those LGAs from the Fed govt. I'm in the States, once met a Yoruba guy from Sierra Leone whose dad was the personal chef for the last British governor of Nigeria before Independence. He told me the Brits were all weeping at the colonial mansion on the day they had to switch power over to Nigerians in LAGOS. Remember Lagos was the first British colony in Nigeria from the 1850's and the Brits were loved and well trusted by the Yoruba people and so were the Brits mutually. Kinda explain why they were all weeping because the bond was very strong with Nigerians and the Brits no doubt.

This is the first time anyone is hearing something good come out of Nigeria. They are taking a step into the right direction and portraying Africa well. This video is suppose to motivate people to do better and help bring back some of the knowledge that has left through the diaspora. Of course Nigeria has a long way to go compared to western countries that has been an independent for many years, but with motivated, optimistic people who are proud of where they come from, Nigeria will be great.

The times are favorable, O Empress of Africa, for you to take the lead in extending not only the material progress but the psychological as well. Yes, just look at the faces of the people in this video -- all self loving, confident, free of the unfortunate lack of self respect seen in all too many black communities in and out of Africa. So carpe diem, O Empress, and remember to take the poor along with you into modernity. And be mindful always that your progress can suffer greatly without transparency in governance. Without it, all is hopelessly lost.

I remember arriving in Lagos. I was working on a flight from Atlanta to Lagos. once we arrived, the other flight attendants and I were so happy because for most of the crew, just like me, was our first time in Africa. but the security guards ruined our vibes by guarding us into the busses all the way to the hotel. the hotel was nice but we weren't allowed to go outside of the hotel. the walls were barbed wired and walls were very high with guards holding guns and all. probably someday, I would just go and without the chaos I experienced. i know it was for our own safety but yeah.

Fashola's changed Lagos alot for the better in the past few years. Electricity is a more national issue that will enable greater changes in other areas such as sanitation. In order to manufacture the building materials and machinery necessary for alot of municipal maintenance you need local manufacturing. Importing everything is too expensive. Electricity must improve.

Caroline Lincoln no, the europeans who went to Africa stayed and have stayed for 350+ years in south africa. the white south africans fought off the British, built schools, roads, hospitals, infrastructure that makes many parts of S.A first world to this day. the majority of white africans have been there to stay.
you are confusing spanish conquistadores with the settlers of modern day USA. the settlers of USA were there to stay-hence the war of independence-stopping goods +wealth flowing to Europe., the early spanish were there to pillage.

Its almost like reading the accounts of a rape from the perspective of the rapist that the rape victim, which h as far as i know is absurd and unheard of. Most books that are of the other perspective are banned from the educational paradigm of learning throughout most Euro education based system. Just being historically honest.

Thanx for agreeing. Why can't Lagos face its own problems within it before trying to expand and get all commercial? Though perhaps they need to attract tourists and richer people to spend money so they could have more money to spend on fixing their infrastructure, if they don't have the money already. You can see both sides of the argument. That all right with everybody?!
Americas got its problems too; everywhere's got their problems. Nigeria's (Lagos's) is trying to develop but I'm just saying that their government may be overlooking some crucial problems in its society.
