    My heart is flooded with joy as Nigeria had taken such a bold gigantic strides to join the developed world in the transformation of the city and environments. This is what we seen in America, Asia, Australia, Europe and Middle East etc;. "I'm more than happy seeing Nigeria grows great!". "This is my dream", i pray that God will help and be with Nigeria and Nigerians to actualize this great Vision. God Bless Nigeria Amen !!!

      +Realtalk YourBrother: you are so shameless that your thinking is backward, the nation must move forward, you have to realise that more than 20000 people are schedule to work in that area, and here you are talking like someone in the 16th century some of those you refered to as poor people are already seing opportunities.

    Please remember to build an ultra-modern library. Let's also make available the Museum of Natural History. The two are a sine qua non in a 21st century ultra-modern city. Thank you.

    • @ThaDreamer18
      @ThaDreamer18 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been thinking about that for quite some time. A Museum will be a fantastic addition to this city. Much like the ones they have in London, New York, Washington D.C and other major cities around the world. Maybe even theatre as well, while we're on the theme of culture and arts. I'm sure a library will also be a welcomed and useful facility.

    Its lovely to observe the progress of this project. This initial infrastructural development will be beneficial to the rest of Lagos as it will put Nigeria in a good light as a destination for investment.
    Additionally more business will be possible with consistent power and clean water. Boosting the local economy as a whole..

    This excites me. I hope this in itself will give hope to Nigerians within the country to see that they can create a better future without having to run to our little countries that are struggling in controlling Nigerian refugees. Nigerians are great people now we get to see their greatness in their country. I hope it also encourages many in the diaspora to return back to their home country such as those here in SA.

    There is no overwhelming demand for this edifice in Nigeria. Any sensible Nigerian should feel comfortable living in a two story building built by Nigerians for Nigerians than in a 100 story skyscraper built by foreigners for Nigerians. What is built for you causes dependency and does not help the economy by creating jobs and skills. Where is the catch? There is overwhelming demand for technology to fix power problem in Nigeria, no assistance there. No assistance with iron and steel, no assistance with water. Who is benefiting from this elephant project? making Nigeria look like London, America, etc., should be the very least of Nigerian's priorities.Getting basic amenities of life so Nigerians can build with their own sweat their own land to look like what they want with their own sweat should be their priority. The fact that they want you to buy generators, no electricity help, no iron and steel, no refinery tells yo one important message: There is no free lunch. So, follow the money to see who is really going to benefit from this elephant project.

    I can always trust that most of the Engineering is from the minds of Nigerians :) Always when it comes to Nigerians. Though the designs may come from Dubai (which I don't mind Dubai is kick ass xD xD) and other architects, you can't help but feel proud for the Nigerian here. True potential to arise, we hopefully hope Buhari will bring true change.

      +Ῥ§yçhic™ the difference is that Nigerians are helping in the building the Arabs in Dubai are very lazy they do not work but are rich though

    • @titiowo7083
      @titiowo7083 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ῥ§yçhic™ yup they were very hard working before the oil but after that they became so lazy. Yup Nigeria we have not experienced such division of wealth its with some selected few. Although everyone in Africa is meant to be wealthy because of the resources we have.

    • @ychic7015
      @ychic7015 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      titi owo Yep! Hopefully Africans hurry up with their bank. It be great to see the continent rise and retake it's former status. Maybe the Arabs will start to finally use their own brains instead of worrying about African and South Asians brains. Though Nigeria will rise and may just buy out UAE if they don't speed up their process matter of fact, lol.

  • @hgsnk333

    I can see only the rich and foreigners benefiting from this. I hope I'm wrong because I'd love to see average Nigerians enjoy this city, but this city will be very expensive to live in, I can already tell. Ocean-front apartments? International schools? Yea, definitely not cheap! And the average Nigerian is struggling! In that case, most people thriving in this city will be very rich Nigerians or average-income foreigners.

    • @gacaptain
      @gacaptain 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +hgsnk333 Once again not looking at the big picture. If it does what it's planned for it will greatly benefit all of Nigeria. There will be lots of banks and finance companies there that would provide funding for lots and lots of business and industry all over Nigeria. Oil Companies would base their offices there and likely be motivated to have more operations in Nigeria after that. All of this spells more jobs for Nigeria and more revenue for the Nigerian government and people.

    Same pattern all over the world, all over again. Thousands upon thousands of people being forcefully set aside, their vital space handed over to gargantuan corporations for the sake of a showcase city, serving no better purpose than that of a magnet for leeches.
    How does it make sense to eradicate the poor in order to hand their land to the very companies that have been scarring and polluting it for decades? Do Nigerians really hope for such a wholesome urbanisation? One that will result in the color of their skin being the only reminder of the continent they inhabit?

    • @ThaDreamer18
      @ThaDreamer18 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wael breiche If you've got the means, then the quality of life is relatively comfortable. Otherwise, it can be a somewhat stressful environment to live in. I'd recommend staying in a serviced apartment, if you can help it (this goes back to my mention of having the means, because they aren't cheap. Hopefully your firm will already have this sorted out for you) because they'd provide round the clock electricity, water and security, so you don't have to worry about organising those yourself as many Nigerians have to.
      Attractions: ample number of bars and clubs, country club, shopping centres, cinemas, a wide variety of international and local cuisines, restaurants and fast-food, beach resorts, golfing resort etc and essentially most of the things you would expect in a modernised or modernising city.
      Push factors: traffic congestion during rush hours etc; crime (as you might find in every large city really. However, I have lived in Nigeria 16 years and haven't had a major or direct incident/experience with crime, knock on wood)/insecurity; high prices in certain bars, clubs, restaurants etc; a seeming lack of order sometimes, but I think this is improving; frequent power cuts and a need for a generator (however if you lived in a serviced apartment or certain gated communities, then this wouldn't be an issue for you). It isn't always convenient to walk to places sometimes, due to poor sidewalk provision in some places, or just security concerns for some people (particularly when it's not busy - early mornings or late evenings).
      At the end of the day, I'm just speaking to my observations, someone may see things a little differently than I have. And overall Lagos really can be an great and enjoyable place to live and work, despite it's challenges and growing pains. It certainly will be an eye-opening an memorable experience, due to her distinctive energy, culture and way or should I say rhythm of life. It's like nothing you would have ever experienced, in a positive sense. Feel free to throw any further questions that you may have, at me. Good luck!

    I don't know much but I am wondering what about flooding once the city is complete? If it has been eroded once, will it happen again? Why can't they build skyscrapers inland? As opposed to coastal. I am sorry to be thinking like this but my mind goes to Hurricane Katrina and Sandy in America. You never know what mother nature can do

    • @DonCapoeira
      @DonCapoeira 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's easier, quicker and cheaper to simply build from scratch than to try to rebuild Lagos inland. Plus that doesn't solve the problem of sea erosion. Plus this will create capacity which can eventually be tied to further projects down the line.
