This is worthy of study in music schools. Epica….what else can one say? This was from their unbelievably awesome pandemic show…the whole darn show is just over the top. If you want to hear Simone in all her glory and vocal perfection in a soul moving collab with Apocalyptica in their just ended European tour, I HIGHLY suggest Rise Again live from London. It is an Apocalyptica song with Simone on vocals. My fave band in the world is Epica for so many reasons. They only get better over time and after 16 yrs following them still blow me away. Great reaction Jynger, enjoy your Epica journey, your “bar” for symphonic HEAVY metal will only be raised if u do! 🤘🤘👊
Great reaction Jynger, new to the channel and earned my sub. Heard this song quite a lot of times and I still chills especially during that epic intro - mega chills.🤘🤘
I am addicted to this song and I never get enough of Epica! They are simply the best symphonic metal band out there in my opinion! Love how diverse their discography is!
This is probably the only video where you cursed so much hhhhhh!! Epica is hands down the best band imo. They are very very underrated. I hope you get to hear all of their albums. Eight albums and all phenomenal, they're consistent in peak quality. Cry for the moon, Code of life and the final llullaby are good picks for next reactions.
Hi JyngerSlapz, this is a cool song from EPICA, a sci-fi theme, about the machines taking over the world! and an awesome video too: EPICA - Universal Death Squad (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO)
A few that people never seem to recommend but are some of my favorites. Epica - Internal Warfare Epica - Serenade of Self-Destruction Epica - Fools of Damnation
Epica live masters of Rock 2014. Video contains 2 songs unleashed and Storm the sorrow. Simone was on fire there. Another suggestion design your own universe retrospect. They exist 10 years thatvtime concert with ful Orchestra. Another one is the first song from retrospect ...don't forget the intro before. Also very great. The whole concert retrospect is great.
Oh yeah. the masters of rock festival is one of the group's most favorite performances, especially because Simona is so expressive there and gave 200%, of course, she is almost always good on stage, but she outdid herself there. And for some reason this performance is not at all in the top of the fans and by reactions
Coen Janssen's portable keyboard is a commercially available REVO-1 Curveboard , mad by a company called Nu-Motion in Montreal, Canada. He has taken it crowd surfing , including at the 20th anniversary show last September. The song is from the most recent album, Omega. The entire 2021 Omega Alive virtual show is amazing. It was recorded live over 5 days and streamed online all at once. So they got to put in a bunch of cool extras, like the acrobats, and the children's choir on The Skeleton Key. The band has posted The Skeleton Key, Victims of Contingency, Unchain Utopia and this one. But you can find all the songs somewhere on TH-cam. One of their first ever songs, Cry For the Moon, was also played here, as well as the ballad, Rivers done acapella.
Well....EPICA is EPIC !!!!! There are 3 Kingdom of Heaven songs so far, loosely coupled by their common title. They were published on different albums and each carry an additional title. The first one is called “Kingdom of Heaven - (A New Age Dawns V)” was released in 2009 on the album “Design your Universe”. Mark had the idea for this song for many years but thought he would not be able to do it with Epica. Isaac joining the band in 2009 gave it a new impulse and so the song finally came to live. During the recording of the album, Mark’s grandmother died and he dedicated the song to her, and especially one section of the song. Mark’s grandmother had been very important to Epica in their early years because she allowed them to practice in her basement. For that reason, Coen and Simone also wrote the ballad “Tides of Time” in remembrance of her. The first part of Kingdom of Heaven is divided in 5 parts named I. Hold In Derision II. Children Of The Light III. Bardo Thödol IV. Paragons Of Perfection V. The Harsh Return There is a very well-done official lyric video of this song. It was published as part of the release of (remastered) 10th anniversary edition of the “Design your Universe” album in 2019. Unfortunately, there is no public HQ live version. The best version IMHO is the one from Omega Alive, but it has not been publicly posted and is only on the DVD. A popular version is a fan made version based on footage from a concert in Mexico in 2014 combined with the sound from the album version. There is a nice TH-cam video from 2010 called “In the Studio with Epica - Mark Jansen explains Kingdom of Heaven” where Mark gives plenty of background information on the song. The second one is called “The Quantum Enigma - Kingdom of Heaven part 2”. It is the title song of the album “The Quantum Enigma” released in 2014. While being as long as the other 2, it is quite different in that it is not a multi part song. Instead, it relies more heavily on orchestra and choir. It seems that this song has only been performed live once. The third song, the one you have reacted to is officially called “The Antediluvian Universe (Kingdom of Heaven - Part III)”. It is similar in structure as part 1 and has 6 parts: I. Ātman II. Sri Yantra III. Halls of Amenti IV. Duality V. The Chikhai Bardo - Navigating the Afterlife Realms VI. The Flower of Life - The Cosmic Spiral KOH part 3 is generally played on their current concerts where they have a big enough time slot (like 90 minutes). On shorter concerts like festivals, they generally don’t play it because of lack of time. NWSU/Epican/Ayreonaut/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
Has Epica broke the "Giddiness" and JyngerSlapz smile record with this song? I have said it many times before for this band, and this video is a PERFECT example of it...Epica does "MORE IS MORE" to Perfection! Glad you enjoyed this one!
My absolute favorite Epica song is "Consign to Oblivion (live)", with which I've already caused an uproar in some posh car dealerships, when - as a potential customer - I definitely want the Bang & Olufsen or the Burmester - automobile sound systems had to test!😎🤘
Hi Jynger, What an awesome reaction. I really loved your facial expressions, you could really tell you liked it a lot. There are many awesome Epica songs, I will just give a few of my favorites. - Rivers, live in Chile : th-cam.com/video/qcLGgfyOmZE/w-d-xo.html - The final lullaby : th-cam.com/video/YiJ5r8cNiq8/w-d-xo.html - Sirens : th-cam.com/video/svGQ-q9gx68/w-d-xo.html - Cry for the moon : th-cam.com/video/Dys1_TuUmI4/w-d-xo.html (Yes, it is really Epica, they were only 18 then). - Design your universe : th-cam.com/video/9nlPx-HEpCU/w-d-xo.html Well, these will get you reacting for a while 🙂 And my best guess is that you will like all of them. Have fun!
Hi Chantal. Check out Epica at Paradiso Live 2006, just so you see their beginnings and can compare it to their recent music. This band is amazing and Simone is a goddess. 🙂
The song itself isn't new to me, but I KNOW I hadn't seen that video before. Damn. The human chandelier is amazing, and Cohen went from spinning his standard keyboard like a corkscrew top, to playing on a burning upright piano, to his curved wireless keyboard. I've seen him with that last one in person once, when I saw them live in 2016. I've never seen anyone else use that kind of keyboard.
You would love their song Universal Death Squad! It is heavy, menacing, relentless and is super challenging to play. I think you will especially enjoy the crazy fast drumming on that one 🤘🤘🤘
Fantastic reaction. IMO this is EPICA's magnus opus. Just amazing music, vocals (love their use of choir's), and the whole stage production. From their Omega Alive pandemic streaming show. Everything from this show is amazing. Official videos for Unleash Utopia and Skelton Key are amazing but probably my two favorites are the acapella version of Rivers followed by Once Upon a Nightmare. Two awesome ballads worthy of a twofer reaction. Concur on checking out Simone's collaboration with Apocolyptica on Rise Again (music video or live). Also Rivers live from Chile, music video for Sirens- of Blood and Water (inspired by original Little Mermaid) with Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur for some recent stuff. Finally Epica on stage with full orchestra and choir from 10th anniversary Retrospect concert, Unleashed, Chasing the Dragon, and Design Your Universe. As you can see there is so much Epica to explore and all of it fantastic.
This is Epica's The Greatest Show on Earth. It is perfection. I've mentioned that Epica is my favorite band, even more than Nightwish. Their unique use of the orchestra and choir mixing them with the incredible band and Simone's haunting voice takes me to places I couldn't imagine. More to watch... The Skeleton Key, Unleashed (from the Retrospect Live show), Sirens - of Blood and Water feat. Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur, Quietus, and Cry for the Moon. Every one of them will blow your socks off. Enjoy them!
i think i have a new fave reaction video. this made me unreasonably happy to watch. can you see why epica is my fave band of all time? lol. i got the DVD for my bday after it came out and its my favourite things ever. really hope youll be able to get more epica done, but it also makes it that much better when they drop. a couple faves of mine are Ascension, natural corruption, tides of time, and fools of damnation (music/lyric vids for the first two, audio only for the latter unfortunately). cant wait for the next one!
Thank you my friend and that makes me happy you enjoyed it so much! Yes now I see why they are your fav band! They are incredible!!! Can't wait to dive into more Epica :)
There is a high Fidelity reproduction of that gorgeous ballad Tides of Time with lyrics, they’re added in like they are in picture frames it’s beautiful.
There are some good fan made videos for Tides of Time but one of my favorites is an acoustic 3ONStage performance at Pinkpop in 2010. Very small intimate tent with Simone and Coen on Keyboard. th-cam.com/video/ksmBwx_cYgM/w-d-xo.html. The whole short set is amazing. Tides of Time, Solitary Ground, Quietus, This is the Time. th-cam.com/video/ERQmengyF1I/w-d-xo.html
Yes, yes and yes! You're so right Jynger..... This is THE one for me. Loved your reaction..... and of course the smile said it all before the song had finished.
Simone…what else can one say? She gets ever better over the years somehow. By the way yes Ari the percussionist has deathcore roots, so he is a power drummer
That show was something, a visual and auditory feast. A few you might consider for later are Mirage of Verity: th-cam.com/video/MuBaVGQ6XRY/w-d-xo.html while it says live, it's not, thankfully some one recognized the audio was terrible and did a video with studio sound. In All Conscience: th-cam.com/video/UQIf86ql3-M/w-d-xo.html from the same show as this one was. and finally, Serenade of Self-Destruction: th-cam.com/video/-hW7EfiBwm0/w-d-xo.html
Epica is great and here a little "pépite" : "the phantom agony" live video during recording the song. Simon has only 19 years old in it (th-cam.com/video/UAlRf9qf9d0/w-d-xo.html).
