Hi 'Omega Alive' was their pandemic streaming concert, all of the live performances were filmed over 5 days, with 5 different stage sets, the songs were then assembled into a 1 hour 45 minute experience, it is incredible :)
And was best 2 hours you could spend. Especially at that time.
My favorite band ever. Retrospect concert is still absolutely spectacular
The fiery piano was real and had to be done, by necessity, in one take. Coen mentioned that it got a bit warm by the end of the take 😃
A group of the real musicians, with a really amazing arrangement of music. This is what the world need.
Coen's curvy keyboard is the 'REVO1 Curveboard', made by Canadian company Nu-Motion
It‘s a perfect match in harmony to the Leadguitar from Isaac.
It is a live recording taken from their Live stream show, just how Nightwish did The Islanders Arms, Epica did Omega Alive. It was PHENOMENAL!!
The musicality, visuals, special effects, vocals and showmanship make this probably my favorite metal performance EVER! I loved your reactions to it. Thanks.
Harry, I've been watching you for a long time and know you understand music well. Don't be afraid of commenters when you critique their favorite bands. Epica is a unique listen. They are a mix of symphonic metal and prog metal. Prog is not everyone's cup of tea and I'm guessing that is where some of the unspoken thoughts are coming from.
With this sound, Epica has crept up in my listening to my 1a band with Nightwish. Their writing is definitely more Dream Theater than Mozart. Sudden jarring changes create a unique wall of music that I love, but it's not everyone's style.
To me, this is the best piece of music released this year.
Yeah. Epica is the current peak of symphonic metal for me. The up and coming Seven Spires might dethrone them one day, but not yet.

I want you to give you a tip off another Dutch band I really like. It's called Blackbriar, you should check them out. They don't have an official live performance online I think, but they do have several live accoustic perfomances. They are really great... the videos of their songs as well by the way.
Just listen to Preserved Roses, Arms of the Ocean, Beautiful Delirium, or Our Mortal Remains.

I'm also gonna make a suggestion, Orbit culture, I can't stop listening to them and every song has been bigger and better than the previous one. "North star of Nija" live in studio is a good start! Good reaction. Amazing song. For me the best part of kingdom of heaven. Did see the whole live-stream 3 times and bought the Blu-ray. In September they have a show for their 20th anniversary. They told it would be something like the live-stream. Hope that it is or even better. Got a ticket. Thank you for this reaction.
Epica is one my favorite bands and probably my most favorite band from the Low Countries. That said; I also love reactors who dare to criticize. It's imo your 'job' :). I read two books each week and even books from my favorite authors (and there quite a lot) are sometimes better than others. No shame in it. In fact it admirable. I've no use for people who like everything because that's simply impossible and dishonest..

I personally love part 1 too but I can see why Harry liked this better. Currently I also think this song is better composed and shows their evolution as a band.

Epica is death metal with joie de vivre:) And generally it takes a couple of listenings to "get" their longer pieces like the Kingdom of Heaven series. Once it clicks, it's basically a religious experience 😂
Though you might be right, when I heard divine conspiracy for the first time it instantly became my favourite.

If I had to guess, that piano is coated in the same gel they use for body burns in movies & TV so the gel itself burns but not the piano.

I don't know who said part 3 is completely different, but I would say part 2 is more different from both, part 1 and part 3 :) Part 2 is not as heavy, not as epic, but as someone said "more atmospheric".

I can see Part 3 being more cohesive than Part 1, which is what he didn't like about Part 1 which is a bit chaotic even though I still love it lol
@@dac2007 I think if he saw the Live in Mexico version he would have liked part 1, I honestly don't like the official lyric video either, with the ad in the middle and a lot of visual noise.

After Nightwish is Epica my 2nd favorite band. An reaction from "The Skeleton Key" (from this show) would be very nice! too bad you don't just dare to criticize because I think that's what this video is about and you should just do that sad keyboard warriors you have everywhere every band has a few and what you said about part 1, I understand it never caught me and neither did part 2 and that while I'm really a big fan of this band but that doesn't mean that I have to like every song.

I don't mean to be rude but the way tha kingdom of heaven saga was build up is by chapters, thats why it sound like many songs in one. It's based in classical music. Please don't be stupid, dude. If the other was 3 songs this is at least 5 in 1.
