This video is from Omega Alive, a streaming event Epica did earlier this year as because of Corona, they could not do any live concerts and they wanted to do something for their new album Omega which the released at the beginning of the year. This also explains the title. This was recorded in some film studios in Belgium. This setup allowed of course contributed to them being able to deliver a very high production quality and allowed them to do things which they couldn’t have done in a normal concert with audience. So far, Epica has released 3 videos from Omega Alive, and on December 2nd, they will release the whole concert on Blue-Ray. While many Epica songs feature quite contrasting parts, there are 2 songs, Kingdom of Heaven part 1 and part 3, that stand out in being particularly complex and they are even officially subdivided in chapters. It is 5 chapters for part 1 and 6 chapters for part 3. In that regard, the comparison with Nightwish’s Greatest Shown on Earth (and Poet and the Pendelum) is fitting. Note that there is also a Kingdom of heaven part 2, but that one is simpler in structure. Kingdom of Heavens follows the Epica tradition of having a title/theme they carry across songs in different albums. In general, these songs than have a double title. Kingdom of heaven part 1 is also part of Omega Alive, but has not been publicly released. So far, there are no real HQ live versions for parts 1 & 2. This performance is just..OUT OF THIS WORLD!! it stands to me as one if the best performances i have ever seen, way to go Epica, this is a song of 1000 transitions, that just wotk perfect, Simone look like a real Valkyrie coming to tell me a message, the band goes heavy, the piano is insane, the drums is wicked, the guitar is banging, this is just the best i have seen in a long long time, and also something never seen like this before:)

The ideas for the decor and bombastic features for this concert were put together by Cöen (piano) and Isaac (guitar solo). The bass player is Rob and the drummer is Arien (The Beast) as the band and fans call him. She's Simone Simons... The Queen.
Actually, in an anterview, they said there will be no behind the scenes. Because of COVID, the recordings were difficult enough so that they didn't have the time to shoot some "making of" footage except maybe for some private mobile phne videos.
I think you were so impressed with the piano burning that you actually forgot to pay attention to the music :) That part was really epic, especially when the choir started singing!
Epica is amazing, but there are more great Dutch metalbands. You should definitly check out "Dear Mother" With their debut album "Bulletproof". They are a new dutch metalband formed by ex-Delain guitarist Merel Bechtold and ex-Delain drummer Joey de Boer. They teamed up with David "Pear" Hruska as their vocalist. Its realy worthwhile!
