It was my first concert.. I was 10 years old.. 97 Mobile AL.. my pops (old white dude with too much soul) took me and Prince burned that bitch down.. we were 2nd row, and he asked someone in the audience to get up and dance with him.. the light shined on me and busted an MJ move, Prince shook his head and picked a dude dressed as a Prince imitator haha.. they danced with each other for 10 minutes.. then I found out later that Prince and MJ had a rivalry and didn’t really care for each other 😂

It's hard to imagine that a lot of folks became fans of Prince during or after the Purple Rain era,. I was hooked as soon as he made those early hits like soft & wet, I wanna be your lover, sexy dancer, etc,. And the royal badness haven't disappointed since.
I worked in the Michigan State University Union ticket office starting in 1980, selling tickets to a not-super-well-known performer: Prince. And Vanity, actually. The performance was cancelled because we just didn't sell enough tickets. The next year Little Red Corvette came out and he was HUGE. Didn't get to see him, but have loved him all along.
I was very lucky to have met Prince in 2001 and got to know what a kind person he was. He wasn't only a musical genius, he was also a very genuine person.
Many hundreds of thousands cried that sad day. He touched us in a way that no other singers did. He was so much more than a singer, as we all know by now, he was out of this world. No other talent like his. Not possible. Sleep softly sweet PRINCE 💜
People don't know what to do when faced with brilliance like that. The band is so on. People didn't even know what hit them. Amazing performance wasted on that crowd. At least we can enjoy it via this video.
I love how Prince hardly aged between 1986 and 2004!! he's channelling James Brown with this performance. Like James Brown, he was a 'one off'. He put everything into performing live.
They acted like they needed a shot of Viagra or something. I would have loved to be there. They had no idea what they’d be missing and they were there, witnessing his genius and acted like they couldn’t care less. How sad.
I think I’m in love with the bassist. There will never be another PRINCE. I was so blessed to grow up during an era when I could watch this raw and amazing talent grow musically, and become such the iconic artist that influenced and entertained so many. What a loss. He was 1000% artist, musician, dancer…and also seemed to have a heart. I believe the current powers of darkness got rid of him. There were many signs of this in his death and police handling and report. Consider, one of his last songs, “Lay it Down”, was about lies in the media. Prince had so many friends (what he called fans…friends), the darkness couldn’t allow Prince’s turn to the light and the influence he had over so many. It’s heartbreaking. The most talented entertainer ever.

I only saw him once in concert. His shows always sold out quickly whenever he came to the bay area. I can only explain the experience in word: “Dynamic!” The man was an absolute showman par excellence! So sad that he’s gone. But his music will live forever!

Different people have different styles of attending live performances. When I'm seeing one of my favorite performers live, I'm not dancing and losing my shit, I'm paying rapt attention to the performer's moves, expressions, and vocals, what the musicians are doing, that sort of thing. It's not that I think it's not cool to be myself, that's how I like to experience live performances. If I want to listen and dance, I can do that in my living room. You shouldn't expect everyone to live up to how you think they should behave. You do you, let others do themselves.

It's strange but only on stage Prince disclosure his greatness. Studio version of his songs too gentle most of times but on stage... gosh, that's where the funk starts and Prince spread his wings.
I think it was one of those events where everyone remains seated unless I am missing something and they are all dead. Later that evening, Prince had everyone on their feet with his performance along side Tom Petty & co.
At the same gig he later played the best guitar solo I've seen in years with petty, Jeff Lynne and george Harrison's son while my guitar gently weeps. Check it out on you tube
They even play that performance at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. It's in this short video of clips from the induction ceremonies. Now that I think of it, I think the suit Prince is wearing is also there.

I love Michael Jackson and Elvis but Prince just is above them in his performances ! his timing in his moves are perfect and the way he change his voice is amazing...the dance moves are the best ! I watched his half time show during the Super Bowl and he performed while it was raining and it was the best I have EVER seen before then and since then !!!

Just incredible ! I love Michael Jackson and Elvis but Prince just is above them in his performances ! his timing in his moves are perfect and the way he change his voice is amazing...the dance moves are the best ! I watched his half time show during the Super Bowl and he performed while it was raining and it was the best I have EVER seen before then and since then !!!
