Thank you so much for not shaming no vegans and encouraging positive ideas to get non vegans to become interested. I feel welcome on your page and it gives me a chance to experiment. Thank you!
I'm not vegan but I'm making a huge effort to eat alot more plant based foods for good heslth as my resolution for 2020. So far it's been great. There are so many awesome recipes in the vegan world and I love cooking so much. I feel it's making me a better cook because you need to be more creative when you cut out meats from your regular diet. And as a bonus I've lost a few pounds just from the Change in my diet and I feel amazing. :)
Making vegan “meat” is important though for people wanting something similar to what they were used to before switching. Honestly baffles me when people get angry at vegans trying to replicate meat with plant based ingredients, allow it loool. Spread love not hate ✌️
@@PatricksJuicyFlapJacks this! as cool as unique vegan recipes are, it’s crazy someone would get mad at you for wanting to eat something with similar flavours & textures as the non vegan food you’ve ate before, when you’re not hurting anybody in the making
@@qinggjj9208 agreed. It’s also a good avenue for non vegans to try to know “hey, maybe there are alternatives that taste similar and are better for me and the planet”.
@@PatricksJuicyFlapJacks exactly. i know a lot of people who aren’t even interested in going vegan or vegetarian, but through vegan alternatives similar to meat, they’ve opened up to plant based meals & therefore including more veggies in their diet. giving people options and showing how they can have more variety in their diet can never go wrong
@@qinggjj9208 yup, I have a lot of those types of people around me too. What’s unfortunate though is some commercially available alternatives (beyond, impossible, yves, good butchers, etc.) are priced higher than their meat counterpart, and it’s not even the producers fault. Government subsidizes dairy and meat thus able to lower their prices, but they don’t subsidize REAL innovation and REAL solutions to animal welfare and REAL solutions to climate change and REAL solutions to global health crisis. Actually sickens me.
I know this is an older video but just wanted to thank you for it! It's surprisingly hard to find videos just giving you quick and easy flavor-profile ideas. I was just looking for different flavors for my tofu and most went through the whole cooking/meal process or were adding things in as cooking. This was perfect - multiple options all in one place, plus they were all quick and easy with mostly fairly accessible ingredients. I do appreciate the meal ideas to go with them though. Also mentioning how long they'll be good in the fridge is so helpful.
This is EXACTLY the kind of video I was craving!! I'm not a huge bean fan, but I absolutely love soy products and am constantly on the hunt for marinate inspiration. This is perfect :) lovee the gyro one
These look so yummy Lisa!! That mango teriyaki one is calling my name for sure! I’ve been following you for a long time now. Really love how your recipes and videos have grown. Thank you!
Try going to any Asian food stores like Lions Market. I found fresh lemongrass by going to my local Vietnamese store, and I just so happened to come upon the fresh stocks. Explore around, also remember that Thai lemon grass can be frozen whole or in pieces. So if the store is far you can stock up and just freeze what you don’t use immediately.
Lol I love the music at the end. I'm watching while my tofu marinades wish me luck this is my first time making tofu. For 2020 I'm trying to eat a lot more plant-based Foods. It's been really fun learning all the new recipes. :) Thanks for these awesome recipes.
YUM! Totally going to try these! I literally eat tofu everyday, most of the time in every meal. Probably not the most ideal health wise but tofu is just too gooooooddd
Lisa Kitahara yeah no way I’m giving it up, it just that it was the only protein I was eating 😅 (cause let’s be honest tofu is the best) I do really like beans so I’m trying to add more of those in now but it will always be #tofuforever
I have some firm tofu to use up so definitely trying these this weekend! I have all the ingredients for the coconut curry so probably will try that one first!!
I've been playing with tofu lately as a new wfpb eater. I'm really struggling with all the soy sauce/tamari used as its so high in sodium. I love the look of the mango one but was wondering if you could recommend something other than soy sauce to use in it?
I really appreciate this video, and so cool that your green veggies are still GREEN. So many times on FB in the plant-based groups, people will showcase their "meals" and 9 times out of 10, the green veggies are TOTALLY GREY AND GROSS (all the nutrients committed suicide). I'd been looking for a good marinade for my tofu lately. Been eating tofu for at leasat 10 years so I'm always looking for ways to mix it up. Thanks again!
Erica C I ended up just guessing the measurements for the mentioned ingredients based on visuals alone-and then tweaked from there. It turned out really lovely! I made the coconut curry marinade and plan to use it again
I'm always on the lookout for new ways to eat tofu and giiiiirl these all look freaking delicious! By the way, the first Vietnamese dish is pronounced more like "boon chai" but with more of an upward inflection on 'bun' and accented emphasis on 'chay'. Does my description even help lmao it barely makes sense to me hahhaha why is Vietnamese so hard. ANYWHO I can't wait to try out these marinades!!!
A good tip is if it’s not available in your fresh produce sometimes you can get the dried stuff. It might not taste the same, but in some cases it can be a good substitute. Hope this helped! :)
hello Asia any sticky marinades for like roasts yours are very runy to soak and absorb over night i need something that sticks to be wiped on ie pigs chickens etc.

@@oldsoul6507 Great job, hope the rest of the year has gone well :)
I am not a vegan but I want to do 2-3 no meat days and I just hit subscribe because I love your ideas.
Yaay the world thanks you. Even being vegan for one or two days makes a change
\(^^)/
I love vegan protein like this, not trying to make "meat" out of vegetables but making it's own thing with unique flavors and textures

I tried 4 of 5 (can't find Lemongrass right now) and i am happy with all tastes so far! So great, easy to made and yummy. Thank you Lisa!

The coconut curry and gyro one are my favorites 😍😍
honestly the coconut one is probs my face for asian-ish one and the gyro one is just SO KEY

I’ve been wanting a video like this! Thank you!!!!
Also I love how you included how long it lasts❤️

Hmm I’m having some trouble opening the recipes for the marinades. Is it possible that your link is broken?
Same!

Question.. Can tofu be used with any marinade?
Madfox Axy pretty much, it’s very versatile
Not vegan but I love tofu! Thanks for the recipes!
These are awesome
I wish I had most of those ingredients available in my country 🙃 ugh
A good tip is if it’s not available in your fresh produce sometimes you can get the dried stuff. It might not taste the same, but in some cases it can be a good substitute. Hope this helped! :)

@@lisa.kitahara Thank you

Cook with your heart and taste it as you go to your liking
Not vegan but I love tofu
yo wicki vid lisa no simpson
Not a vegan, I've just get my hands on a piece of tofu and after several video I can final say "This is what I was looking for"
soy sauce has too much salt & gmo soy messes with my thyriod
Where's the measurements?
The description dumbass
They look amazing. My only suggestion is that if you could speak slower would be great as it is a bit difficult to understand you. Many thanks.
You’re not giving the measurements of the ingredients
I know this comment is old but there’s a link in the description to the recipes ☮️
I like the recipes but why aren’t there any basic measurements to put the marinade ingredients in proportion? 🙄
Did I really just watch a recipe video that didn't include measurements? You're missing half the concept of a recipe.
Ya these all look great but I am not going to just guess how much of each ingredient to use. Basically useless recipe
i guess you both never heard of the description box. fairly new concept actually.
Do you have a sister?? @cheaplazyvegan
Soy sauce is not healthy 😭
Look who I found here by chance 😂 I follow u on ig, didn't realise u have yt too lolol
