    Good job, just moved to a new home and wanted to change from the small round toilet to taller enlongated bowl and of course I find the plastic flange is cracked..
    I unscrewed the 4 screws on the flange but not sure if its rubber cemented as the flange looks like it slides over the pipe rather than sit inside of it. I also so i dont wana fk things up so im going to use this kit..
    Hopefully my 2 upstairs toilets go smoother, i never have luck on a straight forward repair, always have to fix something else 1st before continuing my initial repairs.. cant ever catch a break.

      hi. for this product, the wax ring goes under the hydroseat only. no wax ring between the seat and the hydroseat. thats what the rubber is for. it will not leak if installed level and properly. did a few of these. never seen an issue. :) thanks

    It would have been nice if you had done a dry fit of the two surfaces to see what what the junction of the toilet horn and the rubber gasket would be. Also, the ceramic horn is not a finished surface, it is rough and uneven. Over time it could damage the rubber gasket.
    It would be prudent to put a wax ring on the toilet horn to ensure at least a vapor seal, and maybe a liquid one as well.
    I would shape the wax to lubricate the horn as it settles into the rubber gasket.

    • @HowToWithLech
      @HowToWithLech  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah I should have shown the dry fit. Good point. Maybe future video 👊
      But as per mfr. no wax ring between it and the bowl.

  • @Jalo1979

    Do you not have to put another wax ring around the bowl and the flange

    • @HowToWithLech
      @HowToWithLech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      noahs 2nd channel if you’re using hydro seat kit you don’t put a wax ring between it and the toilet bowl. The bowl sits right on it... make sure it’s mounted on top of tiles so it’s high enough for bowl to go into it ...Same with floor no wax ring needed , but i did between the floor and hydroseat just Incase..

    • @bwj999

      According to Danco, wax ring under the flange. If you got lucky on the exact gap, maybe you could do without.

      Looks like Brucie B didn’t actually read the directions. I have one of these kits and have watched the videos from the manufacturer. Both state that the wax ring goes beneath the kit, not above it. That’s part of the appeal of this kit, you don’t have to replace the wax ring every time you need to remove or decide to replace the toilet.

    • @HowToWithLech
      @HowToWithLech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@evabobeva77 nice. thanks for sharing and knowing the product. you would only replace the wax ring below it if you remove the flange, as it can be damaged after being moved etc. safer to replace. but if only changing toilet bowl and not removing the kit, you are fine. thanks for watching and sharing with all.

      I just installed mine over the corroded and broken flange the other night.
