Top Video !!! leider werden es von Jahr zu Jahr immer weniger betriebsfähige Dampfloks . In den 70 -iger Jahren waren sie noch täglich im Einsatz , damals war es normal . Heute freue ich mich , wenn ich auf Dampfloktreffen wie in Dresden oder auch zu den Dampfloktagen in Meiningen (Thür.) diese bewundern und schöne Aufnahmen machen kann. Keine Werbung !!! Jedoch im BW Dresden -Altstadt findet vom 12.04. - 14.04.19 das 11.Dampfloktreffen statt mit Sonderzugfahrten und vielen mehr. Ich bin dabei - hoffe Ihr auch!!!!

Tja,dass stimnt leider! Es werden immer weniger. Andererseits ist es sehr erfreulich und vorbildhaft dass die UP die big boy 4014 wieder betriebsfähig nutzt. Wäre wirklich mal toll wenn die DB und die ÖBB da nachziehen würde und dass tolle potential erkennen würde das in solchen aktionen steckt. Und : ein mega tolles video. DANKE👍👍
@@MichaelBoese Ein paar wenige kann man aber schon rumfahren lassen, ohne, dass es ein Problem ist. :) Da haben wir ganz andere Klimasünder, wie Lastwagen, Autos, Ölheizungen, Kohle & Gaskraftwerke oder Fracking. Jenseits vom Klima kann auch nicht besonders viel mit Öltankern oder Plastikmüll mithalten, wenn es um die flächendeckende Verheerung unserer Umwelt geht. Die paar Oldtimer haben da wohl kaum Gelegenheit, einen nachvollziehbaren Fussabdruck zu hinterlassen.

I think our India has extreamly prospered in the field of technology because here steam engines have been closed for over 2 decades. The youths of India have not seen these steam engines live yet and if seen then these steam engines will be mocked where as in other countries these steam engines are still made and used in comercial runs. In india today people are unwilling to believe as steam engines still alive in other countries. I have seen steam engines in my place before 30 years in my childhood days.
Well Pallab, steam engines like those you see in this video have stopped pulling regular (commercial) trains in 1977 (West Germany) respectively 1988 (East Germany). What is shown here are special trains run by "steam loco fan clubs" and museums for the pleasure of train lovers and to attract and boost tourism.
What gauge are most of the railroads in Deutschland? They look like standard 4 feet 8 1/2 inches. Except for the little 0-8-0 I saw earlier looked like a narrow gauge. Vielen Dank fur's zeigen. Also, it looks like most of the steam engines are 2-10-2 Santa Fe engines. I think I saw a Mikado 2-8-2 also. Mein Deutsch ist nicht zu gut. Und warum do they paint the under carriages of the engines and tenders Rot? They are very pretty like that. That cute little 0-4-0T tank engine at about 4:46 we call switchers here in the USA. At about 55:25 I saw a nice Pacific 4-6-2.
These are all German/Austrian locomotives, not American ones. German engines have a 2-digit series number leading the engine number, and if that's a "99" it's a narrow gauge engine (like the 750mm gauge Kipsdorf line near the beginning). All others are standard gauge. What you mistook for Santa Fe engines were 52 series freight train engines, and the "Pacific" was the series 01, Germany's most famous express train locomotive. Not sure where you saw a tank engine. The black and red were the standard engine colors of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, later Deutsche Bundesbahn. Private locomotives don't follow that color scheme nor the numbering. Post-war the Deutsche Bundesbahn renumbered the engines, prefixing a 0, so the 01 became the 001 (seen around 1:06:00).
Red is a warning color and and highlights the dangerous moving parts of the loco. It also makes it easier to spot fatigue cracks and other damage concerning the metal parts when they are painted in a bright color - oil and dirt will accumulate in the cracks and make them easily visible due to the contrast with the red color. Plus it looks good.
