      Nice word play Doodlegirl! KUDOS!
I am so sorry for Your struggles & those who have had life time issues with weight.
I'd like to share a different perspective for some of us. I didn't battle obesity until I was in my late 40's & autoimmune hit like a ton of bricks!!
I was always thin, able to work like a horse & never get tired. I ate tons of junk every day all day, had been an alcoholic & other drugs addict in earlier life!
I thought there were skinny ppl & fat ppl. period.
But I believe the reason the autoimmune hit was because I was probably already quite insulin resistant with no symptoms & with the emotional abuse of decades of dysfunctional marriages & I had learned & was driving log truck at the time & my body had a breakdown!
My body had always been my friend & worked, looked & acted perfect. I was a Can Do Grrrl. Then rheumatoid arthritis HIT! In a day!
I was in a virtual coma for 2 wks & have no memory at all. Then I was SO weak, it took 2 hands to turn the car key in ignition & close the door. Probably shouldn't have been driving but I needed to get to Dr with all these weird symptoms!! Couldn't drive truck for sure!
Suddenly I went from a size 5-7 to a 12-14!!! I was too foggy & weak to really comprehend anything but since then I have had a lot of trouble maintaining any reasonable weight in my mind.
Now I am like my Mom who said, if she even looked at bread her hips got bigger!! I struggle with these unseen consequences of a life time of poor nutrition & poor emotional choices. I want health!
But paleo & then keto have helped me be as close to my old self as I probably will ever be again... a 10-12.
I know some have no sympathy for me but if You had always been a whatever size & all of a sudden You are 3+ sizes bigger!! It hurts.
My health has been from bad to really bad these last 25 yrs- no energy like a slug to moderately OK... no strength, no stamina, no anything... zip.
Very hard for a go getter to be a no doer!
My struggle is to get back my energy, muscle tone & health. I will settle for whatever size my body wants if I can have my health back.
My prayer is for all of us to have health, strength, stamina & be thankful for those things whatever size our body ends up being!!
Do You write for a living? You are a true wordsmith Doodlegirl! Thank You for sharing Your talent ☺️💕

You're looking great! It's annoying that some folks want to chastise someone else on what they believe to be true before checking the facts. (i.e., the definition of fasting.) Liquid fats go right through me, too! Yikes! 😵‍💫 I find I need to limit my poultry and fish because I can easily ramp up my protein by eating them as much as I like. I grew accustomed to eating "lean" proteins for so long, sometimes it's hard to break that habit.

You're doing fantastic Anita! I'm on the Steak & Butter Gang challenge this month and it's a "fat fasting" and I can tell you I've had incredible GI issues with all the fat I'm eating. So it's not just hot or cold fat but also amounts of it and type of fats. It's all about listening to your body and understanding what it needs and doesn't and thank you for addressing this. You are doing a stellar job explaining all of these nuances and I hope you're enjoying Kelly's program this month.

    • @KetogenicWoman
      @KetogenicWoman  ปีที่แล้ว +9

Very much so, Kelly has touched on areas I've never even considered and she is so funny and encouraging. I agree on the types and amounts of fats too with GI. Yesterday was fat fast day and I think I discovered my threshold level (93% fat in a day is ok but 97% is not, lol!) Stay tuned!

Maybe try a little bit by little bit..increase slowly. With any diet u will get that type of GI issue if u increase fat too fast. I know b4 doing keto or carnivore a nice size bowl of romaine and blue cheese dressing could send me running 4 the bathroom. Now I can eat several spoonfuls of butter throughout the day and then a fatty rib eye later. I think u can slowly build up your tolerance imo.

One new thing I'm doing is mashing up 3 or 4 hard cooked egg yolks with 3-4 Tbl. butter, both slightly warmed or room temp, & eating it as a dip w/meat crisps or topping my steak & burgers w/it- same w/liver pate'/liver sausage. I also am making a lot of hollandaise w/raw egg yolk & melted butter, a little vinegar or lemon juice & whitye pepper. Great ways to get my fat up, since yolks are fatty too~ not to mention, the choline & other nutrients in them. Have to say, I've noticed a pattern already from this mixture~ maybe it's just me, but my mood & energy soar noticeably after eating the yolks & butter together. I looked into it, & it seems egg yolk is high in B6/B9/B12 (mood/energy) as well as cholesterol, which as we know, helps protect against degenerative disease of the nervous system, such as MS & Alzheimer's. I'm all about that, considering family history of both.

You have certainly come a long way in 6 weeks. That would be a question to ask Dr. Boz as to whether her lowest GKIs are for prevention or for actual patients who have diseases that require that level of ketosis. I know she works with a lot of brain trauma patients so they would have to go to a lower level. Beyond the weight loss, do you plan at some point to get some blood work done to see how this 80/20 has helped with healing things internally? I have found the changes over time through blood work to prod me to keep going even when the weight loss is slow or stationary.

Love these Tuesday Talks. Sometimes I feel like you are talking about me as I have similar results as you. 😜 I’m working up to a Fat Fast but am starting with 80/20 for a few weeks first to see how I can tolerate the additional fat. My glucose is good usually around 4.2 to 5.0 first thing in the morning, but my keystones are always under .5. I’m a data geek and am considering a CGM to see how the foods I eat effects my glucose. Knowledge is power! Lol ❤

I lowered my protein when I upped my fat but a gram of protein is 4 calories and the same gram of fat is 9 calories. Even when trying to limit or lower the protein to add enough fat increased total calories. I gained but kept it up and I am at about 5 weeks and 5 lbs up. I am not sure what to do, try something else maybe but I dont know what that would be. Despite what many people say, fat does not fill me up like protein and I am finding myself much more hungry eating the more fat. I am at a loss to know which way to go. I have been on carnivore for over 13 weeks total and have only gained weight. I do not eat 2 lbs of meat a day either. I am 5'1" and 66. I am at 145 now.

You must listen to Your body Cindy. Carnivore, hi fat carnivore may not be what Your body needs. We are all SO different!
We can't always use the scale to see if we are winners either. Are there other numbers You can use to evaluate Your progress?
Maybe this weight is just a temporary response? Maybe if blood pressure, ketones, acid reflux or whatever Your numbers/symptoms are are better, then all is good?
Another thing I have issues with is dairy & now pork, so if I was eating lots of butter & bacon my weight would be steadily rising but would have nothing to do with the fat in my diet... All fat is not equal.
Anita has mentioned involving as many different fats as possible to prevent sensitivities from forming... but I already have sensitivities to lots of things. 🥺😢
Just some things to chew on for now 🤔☺️🤓 😂 May You find the answers You need for Your true health fellow searcher!

yes, what @PinkLady54 said! Weight it before going in the machine and then again after coming out. This way you can figure out what to use. So if you had a pound of meat going in and 1/2 pound came out, then you know that if you eat an ounce of meat chips you should count it as 2 ounces of whatever that meat is.

I got my report back yesterday My cholesterol is 148 😊 I am 76 years old
all the other values was within normal limits except my triglycerides, so I better get back on my recumbent bike. I’ve been off of it long time since 2017. I’ve had three surgeries on my legs.
    I’ve been sitting a lot
Being on keto I have lost enough weight that my clothes are baggy. I don’t weigh until my pants fall off Whoa ! But is it interesting how we all are different my brothers cholesterol is way over the 200s and he is on a 1800 cal diet and his cholesterol still won’t come down.
