I don't know if the French media was watching, but a French national was, -me-, and I'm thrilled that you guys report on this. You're not the only ones, the guys at Redacted do an excellent job as well, to only cite them.
The entitlement that former colons like France and GB feel over other countries is mind-blowing and makes me physically sick.
"Oh, but we civilized those countries. Brought them roads, hospitals and stuff."
Along with diseases and that disgusting narcissistic self-entitled sense that because they were different, YOU were obviously superior.
And that 'gave you the right' to enslave them physically, mentally, culturally, economically for generations, and keep going on.
But those who control everything would have never expected that thanks to the magical power of the Internet, people all over the world would finally know what is going on. That includes their dear colonies. May have taken a few decades to brew, sure, but as more people get educated and informed on the reality of who pulls the strings, more situations like the recent ones will happen.
It's high time colonialism ends and respect starts (not sure the later will ever exist on a broad scale, unfortunately).
Who knows, we may one day tell our grandkids "I was there during COVID, and when all former slaves finally got their real freedom."

    What France did to Africa:
France Colonialism has had significant disadvantages for both colonized regions and indigenous populations. Some of the key disadvantages include:
    1. Exploitation: France Colonial powers often exploited the natural resources, labour, and economies of colonised regions for their own benefit, leading to economic hardships for the local populations.
    2. Cultural Destruction: Colonization often resulted in the erosion or suppression of indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions, as colonial powers imposed their own values and customs.
    3. Loss of Land and Sovereignty: Indigenous peoples frequently lost control over their ancestral lands and sovereignty as colonial powers claimed ownership and authority over these territories.
    4. Violence and Conflict: Colonialism often led to violence, conflict, and even genocide, as indigenous populations resisted colonization or faced brutal suppression.
    5. Economic Inequality: Colonized regions often experienced significant economic disparities, with wealth concentrated in the hands of colonizers and local elites, while the majority of the population lived in poverty.
    6. Social Disruption: Colonialism disrupted traditional social structures and systems, leading to dislocation, displacement, and the breakdown of communities.
    7. Health Impacts: The introduction of new diseases by colonizers often had devastating health consequences for indigenous populations, who lacked immunity to these diseases.
    8. Educational and Economic Disparities: Colonized populations were often denied access to quality education and economic opportunities, perpetuating inequalities for generations.
    9. Political Instability: Many former colonies faced political instability and conflict in the aftermath of colonial rule, as they struggled to establish stable governments and institutions.
    10. Lingering Effects: Even after gaining independence, France continue to grapple with the long-term effects of colonialism, including economic challenges, political instability, and cultural identity issues.

African colonization has been happening for too long to the point that there is no alternative solution for Africa to prosper. I mean African countries could join BRICS but let’s see how long that would last. The problem with BRICS is a lot of infighting between countries. Africa itself needs to be unified like how the West and in some cases, outlier countries like Israel, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan are unified making up the “global north”.

All dictators in Africa have historically been brutal against their own people to allow Western corporation to extract mineral resources and oil free of charge. It must stop.

This is not different from the military coups. We have also to defferinciete coups and revolution. If the majority accepts the change then it should not be condemned.

This Gabon coup was orchestrated by the French. Case in point no EU officials losing their marbles over this or not in a rush to reinstate Ali bongo like they want to do with Barzoum of Niger.
The French allowed another cousin of Bongo to preempt a coup in case another military official not aligned with France might take control. There was no mention of French military to leave or people chanting France out. I guess the people have been shafted again and soon a real coup might take place in the near future.

  • @jbcosca
    @jbcosca 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

According to sources in France, the government of the Fifth Republic is confused about the situation in Gabon. The fact is that the leader of the coup and part-time head of the Republican guard , Bris Oligui Nguema, is a creature of the United States.
The authorities in the United States had been supporting Nguema for several years, preparing him for the next election, in which he was supposed to win and take the helm after Ali Bongo. And not to say that this support was heavily concealed. For example, three years ago, data about the ownership of three houses in the United States, bought for cash in the state of Maryland, leaked to the online .
But why did a pro-American general overthrow a pro-French president?
The leadership of the French intelligence DGSE explains this by the fact that, according to the Americans, the French authorities are no longer able to effectively protect the interests of the collective West, including the United States, in the territory under their control. Therefore, the White House decided to take the situation into their own hands and seize the initiative from the French.
📌 Despite the fact that Macron's office again criticizes the DGSE for skipping preparations for another coup against President Bongo (who was publicly positioned as a friend of Macron), it is unlikely that the French authorities will escalate relations with the United States over Gabon.
For now, at least, French intelligence has only been assigned to deal with the transfer of Ali Bongo and his family to a prison in Morocco, and their subsequent release after the president is convicted in Gabon.
🔻In the context of such a raider seizure of French assets by the Americans, it is also interesting that French citizens working in Gabon have already begun to evacuate, and some companies have announced the suspension of activities (which was not the case, for example, in Niger - the uranium company Orano continues to work there).
