My Goodness…. Kobayashi! . She is a beast in a way she brings her inner reflection into the story of the very pieces.. She said the preludes have many “characters” to show, and she really proved it. All the characters she delivered are the truth itself. . I especially love it when she takes time in a small reflection: 26:26 .
am immortal performance for the ages. Will be listening again and again. It strikes me that perhaps Gould's relationship to Bach is somewhat analogous to Aimi's and Chopin.
The best preludes I have heard, ever. Thank you Ms. Kobayashi for you Chopin's music expressed by your interpretation and your soul. Best regards from Warsaw.
Among the best. But: Grigory Sokolov, Martha Argerich Tokyo 1976, or Pogorelich's. This last one is genius level. You might say you like Aimi's better, but one cannot really say they _are_ better. But she is correctly slowing down the little notes at the end of that last one which is rare for some reason.
Aimi is the best! She leaves the stage and lets her music shine magically! She is the only only who did that during the competition. No ego! Just Chopin's music. FIRST PLACE!
@@vivianrfjblaw There was one a few years ago, Christ was the name, who had no ego and who commanded quite large audiences, and turned out to be quite successful
@@vivianrfjblaw Full name: Jesus Christ. "For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me." John 6:38 ... "I do not seek My own glory. There is One who seeks it, and He is the Judge." John 8:50 ... I could go on. The point is, it does not take ego--if one really desires to serve humanity, they can succeed brilliantly without seeking ego gratification, whether in the musical sphere or in another sphere.
I am honored to be in the audience during her performance. Her preludes were extraordinary, I had shivers all the time and the prelude in D flat major no. 15 made me have tears in my eyes. An absolutely magical experience.
Oh Aimi...I fell in love with the way she plays and expresses herself through the music from the first note...and sight. There is something about her that makes me feel these pieces deep in my heart. This is marvellous, full of harmony and beauty and the words are probably unnecessary here...
Never heard any better version of live preludes than Aimi’s preludes here. Absolutely sublime experience, an universe of nuances, emotions. Each piece stands out in its own way, so well controlled given the fact of the suffocating atmosphere at the competition. What an artist!
It's pretty good, but if you want to hear a truly legendary pianist perform the preludes live, I'd recommend Bolet's famous 1974 live recording in Carnegie Hall. There are many other epic live recordings, but the one by Bolet has been a best-selling Sony recording for many years. Highly recommended!
@@j.vonhogen9650 If you must refer to a performance from nearly half a century ago to draw a comparison, by a dead artist no less (no disrespect to Bolet, I think he's great!), then I think Ms. Kobayashi has done quite well.
@@jellospeed- Well, I just wanted to mention one of my favorite live recordings that is still widely available. I could have mentioned other live recordings that are equally impressive by pianists who are still alive, like the great Nelson Freire, but just to be clear, I wasn't making a point against this young candidate at all. She did great. I just thought I'd mention Bolet in case the OP wasn't familiar with his famous Carnegie Hall recording. I'm not challenging your opinion in any way either.
@@j.vonhogen9650 I'm actually thankful you mentioned Bolet. I collect classical piano recordings on vinyl, and while Bolet is well represented (mostly playing Liszt where I feel Bolet really shines), his Chopin preludes from 1974 is missing - something I will need to address!
I´M listening to these a year later and they`re more than a great moment in a competition. They are a a reference performance. She had the courage to take her time and give a unique take for each of these gems. I hope this performance was archived by DDG or another for future generations.
I felt her extraordinary concentration. The audience was as if they were holding their breath and listening. I have never heard a performance like this.
I imagined how hard you've been bracing up for this Chopin competition since the last one. For 6 years. I feel you've come such a long way, even if you were already perfect. Every session, every performance was deeply touching. You delivered your everything with all your might and I could feel it.
I hope she wins. When listening to the others I hope they win too, but with her I hope more that she wins. She makes strength and warmth, power and elegance, form and contence go together. Narciss and Goldmund, Apollo and Dionisus, Steinway and Chopin.
Aimi is by far one of the most talented and emotional pianists I’ve ever heard. I will be surprised if she doesn’t win. And the slightly hushed tone in the opening of Prelude No. 5 is absolutely exquisite, and the No. 6 inner voicing is so rich, it kind of sounds like bells. The last one is so powerful, but somehow kind of delicate that seems to be sprinkled in, and the tone, like with all these pieces, is absolutely outstanding and full of depth. The passage at 54:08 is so rich and deep.
@Floral Tulip I feel the same with her interpretations, she gives each of them everything according to the characters of the pieces, and everything of her own inner experiences, light and shadows … Floral Greetings from Germany 🌸🌸🌸 Thea
Aimi is the best, NO COMPARISON!! She plays with authority, command, perfect interpretations that make you feel the direct presence of Chopin in all his passion, sadness, joy, that sense of longing for the Poland in his dreams. I feel his loneliness, but intense sense of hope running through all his music. Only Aimi conveys this to me in every note, because deep within her she has a profound connection with the spirit of Chopin, perhaps like no other living pianist today. She sets the standard for excellence in this repertoire for this generation. I know she will be a absolutely extraordinary in the concerto round, just as she will be for her entire future! The best!!!!
Beautiful and flawless. You are totally amazing. It seems so many pianists treat the instrument as a beast to be mastered and controlled but Aimi plays it as though she and the piano are one being.
It was fine. The “Hades” is very difficult. And you forget this is a very reverberating hall. I thought Aimi did a good job. Name another in this competition who did it better?
Only a genius is capable of playing so perfectly and transmitting to the audience so much emotion to the point of tears. She is the only pianist who is able to do that and communicate with spirits
Wow!! I didn’t know that it was such a lovely collection of songs Chopin 24 preludes. I’ve never liked it when I was a piano student over 20 years ago. I didn’t feel the value this collection to be honest. Now I’ve pulled out a dusty Chopin preludes score from the bookshelf. I’m deeply touched with turning pages of the score while listening to Aimi.
congratulations he played with great romanticism. A dream described in music. She picked all the flowers in Chopin's garden.💐🌷🌸🌹💐 Congratulations Miss Aimi Kobayashi

I hope she will win.

Aimi Kobayashi, piano
My Goodness…. Kobayashi!
.
She is a beast in a way she brings her inner reflection into the story of the very pieces.. She said the preludes have many “characters” to show, and she really proved it. All the characters she delivered are the truth itself.
.
I especially love it when she takes time in a small reflection: 26:26
.
am immortal performance for the ages. Will be listening again and again. It strikes me that perhaps Gould's relationship to Bach is somewhat analogous to Aimi's and Chopin.
I was moved and cried while listening to Aimi's live performance.
I cried , sobbed over her.
and then u did a poo
You Too? Eeeh.
Jokes aside, I was moved! Aimi played my Soul .
Good luck! What a great Chopinist
The best preludes I have heard, ever. Thank you Ms. Kobayashi for you Chopin's music expressed by your interpretation and your soul. Best regards from Warsaw.
Indeed! The slow tempo in some points (Ebm... ), the balance (Ab), the energy (Fm), the passion (Dm).. amazing.
@@TheSoteriologist I have to say that I like Aimi’s preludes the best.
Aimi is the best! She leaves the stage and lets her music shine magically! She is the only only who did that during the competition. No ego! Just Chopin's music. FIRST PLACE!
But you HAVE to have an ego playing to an audience. If she didn't have an ego she wouldn' t have done the competition and she wouldn't want to win it.
@@mackiceicukice agreed. ego is what drives people to be successful. its just one should abuse it and use it wrongly for the worst
@@vivianrfjblaw There was one a few years ago, Christ was the name, who had no ego and who commanded quite large audiences, and turned out to be quite successful
@@DelsinM what's the full name? how did you perceive he/she has no ego at all?? 😂😂😂
I feel this performance is the best of all in the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competitio. Thank you Aimi!
Perhaps one ot the best preludes I have ever heard... and under the preasure of a competition! Just amazing.
Her Preludes have drained me. She's exceptional. My absolute favorite.
Still recovering 12 hours later. What a transcendental experience. Simply amazing.
Me too. Preludes!!!!
Yes - Aimee, Sorito, and Gadviev are my favourites
I am honored to be in the audience during her performance. Her preludes were extraordinary, I had shivers all the time and the prelude in D flat major no. 15 made me have tears in my eyes. An absolutely magical experience.
same, tears in my eyes at No.15. Must have been unforgettable listening to her live.
zazdro!… 😭😭😭
@@Frinnavier I had the same. She's a real artist!
I was watching on youtube live totally mesmerized by her interpretation... I cried many times... so special, vulnerable and extremely intimate.
Brilliant comment. Thank you. How lucky you are to be there. Yes, she changed my life. I cried like a baby over her.
Oh Aimi...I fell in love with the way she plays and expresses herself through the music from the first note...and sight. There is something about her that makes me feel these pieces deep in my heart.
This is marvellous, full of harmony and beauty and the words are probably unnecessary here...
I think this performance is even better than her CD recording of Preludes
Never heard any better version of live preludes than Aimi’s preludes here. Absolutely sublime experience, an universe of nuances, emotions. Each piece stands out in its own way, so well controlled given the fact of the suffocating atmosphere at the competition. What an artist!
I love her, but that's a stretch. She should get a medal this time though.
She was robbed in 2015.
Wonderful performance. Hope she medals this time.
I´M listening to these a year later and they`re more than a great moment in a competition. They are a a reference performance. She had the courage to take her time and give a unique take for each of these gems. I hope this performance was archived by DDG or another for future generations.
Aimi kobaishy is winner of competition 2021
Preludes were absolutely fabulous! It was a rare treat. I wish this girl every success.
I felt her extraordinary concentration.
The audience was as if they were holding their breath and listening.
I have never heard a performance like this.
I imagined how hard you've been bracing up for this Chopin competition
since the last one.
Bravo!... transcendental playing Aimi.. your prowess in capturing all the facets of Chopin's music is astounding. Good luck in the final!.
Soo true!
Mozart was a genius ,Aimi also both use the same way to make music
Aimi is by far one of the most talented and emotional pianists I’ve ever heard. I will be surprised if she doesn’t win. And the slightly hushed tone in the opening of Prelude No. 5 is absolutely exquisite, and the No. 6 inner voicing is so rich, it kind of sounds like bells. The last one is so powerful, but somehow kind of delicate that seems to be sprinkled in, and the tone, like with all these pieces, is absolutely outstanding and full of depth. The passage at 54:08 is so rich and deep.
exactly
@Floral Tulip I feel the same with her interpretations, she gives each of them everything according to the characters of the pieces, and everything of her own inner experiences, light and shadows … Floral Greetings from Germany 🌸🌸🌸 Thea
Brilliant comment.
@@johndaker9489 Thank you!!!
Thank you for the 65 likes!!! I never thought I would be making one of these thanking comments, but here I am lol.
She’s a true genius, so stunningly beautiful. I’m sure her goal is to get into the first three this time.
The best!!!!
yes she has a perfect and profound connection with the spirit of Chopin .She is Chopin
I loved your comment. I think she will win. Shes so much better than all the others.
But I see a few people who don't understand her at all, which is very disappointing.
@@makotoda50 Well, hopefully the jury will!!!
Beautiful and flawless. You are totally amazing. It seems so many pianists treat the instrument as a beast to be mastered and controlled but Aimi plays it as though she and the piano are one being.
the last note itself brought tears to my eyes... ;(
She killed me with the last three notes.
How mesmerizing and engaging Preludes 😇🥺😍 I had to recover from this performance for a long time, in a positive sense.
One of the best Prelude sets I've ever heard, and I've heard dozens of them.
This was an epic historic performance. She is by far the very best.
Lets see if the jury has the same opinion
@@jungwirthmartin probably not,. Number 16 was blurry as hell: too much pedalling
@@kzelmer after a performance like that you are quibbling about the pedalling in no. 16? Seriously!
@@kzelmer omg you probably not seen Krzyzowski's 16th prelude, that was real hell
It was fine. The “Hades” is very difficult.
And you forget this is a very reverberating hall. I thought Aimi did a good job.
Name another in this competition who did it better?
I lost a few tears during her concert.
So elegant, beatiful, strong and sad, soul-like.
I hope she wins 🤍
Only a genius is capable of playing so perfectly and transmitting to the audience so much emotion to the point of tears. She is the only pianist who is able to do that and communicate with spirits
Wow!! I didn’t know that it was such a lovely collection of songs Chopin 24 preludes. I’ve never liked it when I was a piano student over 20 years ago. I didn’t feel the value this collection to be honest. Now I’ve pulled out a dusty Chopin preludes score from the bookshelf. I’m deeply touched with turning pages of the score while listening to Aimi.
Amazing pianist, amazing rendition, I loved it very much! Brava! Come play in Rio de Janeiro
congratulations he played with great romanticism. A dream described in music. She picked all the flowers in Chopin's garden.💐🌷🌸🌹💐 Congratulations Miss Aimi Kobayashi
I was moved by the youthful and fresh Chopin. I wanted to unravel the Chopin prelude I played 30 years ago. Thank you for the wonderful music.
It’s kind of emotional that Aimi Kobayashi and Kyohei Sorita grew up together as best friends and finally both make it to the final.
I hope she wins
It would be a happy ending for them if they end up both top 3, since only one can win

AIMI KOBAYASHI....a genius confession to the spirit of Chopin .... what's more ... there is no such reward for such an amazing playing

Mrs. Ami Kobajashi - you are a wonderful musician, a wonderful pianist, an expert on Chopin. Listening to the Lady brings a lot of positive emotions.
You are wonderful.
Amazing and shocking. I have no other words. i wonder what would Chopin did if he heard Aimi. Possibly, would get on his knees.
Wonderful performance. Aimi you should have won. So gifted. Best Chopin preludes I have ever heard. Thank you 🙏
