I remember when we would get all our clothes from Walmart. No one liked it, but it was affordable. Today I not only appreciate that they provided us that option, but that they now have a much better selection for the new generation to go to school in. And as for the bike, the Ozark Trail logo on the bottom, clean.
They now sell Adidas clothing & it's very nice & affordable
@ definitely stepped it up 🥁
Walmart might actually be the saviour the bike industry needs right now!
You, Sir, are my new favourite bike youtuber. So much more relatable.
love seeing people trying to put more people on bikes!!
It's funny, your comment about bike shops is so relatable, and I think most folks feel that way, which is a huge missed opportunity for the shops. You walk in and see a row of $3,000+ bikes, it's very intimidating. The shop I go to has a shop dog, she helps break the ice a little. I like inexpensive gear, with the caveat as always ride it within the limits that it can handle. Some of these bikes look just like a bike you can do drops on, for instance, but it isn't built for it. I'm curious, is there a sticker on it, or anywhere in the owner's manual that says if you can jump the bike? Most lower priced bikes say not to, I was actually surprised when I got my Fathom that it says specifically that it IS meant to be used offroad and for jumping. I love what Walmart is doing, either way, anything that drives more folks to the trails brings more interest and money to develop and maintain more and better ones is great in my book.
Your assessment of most bike shops is correct… need to shop for best LBS in your area
Dude that thing is sweet!!!! Man 2 new bikes released in a week 😎
Lol, your excitement, giddiness and sense of wonder made my day brother! It really shows your passion for bikes. You were like a kid on Christmas day! Thank you! As far as Suntour goes...I've been riding their higher end line for years...Suntour and Manitou. Enjoy your awesome new dirt jumper brother!
5:09 lol - "comment what's in the box", just as a pic of it shows on the side of the box😂
Cool👍 good to know you were never a Trek shill👍
Wish I was in US, I would have a garage full of Ozarks👍
All thumbs up😆😎
10:30 While I usually use a set of "aviation snips" designed for aluminum to open plastic packaging, an Xcelite flush cutter or one of the million knockoffs is by far the best tool I have ever found for safely cutting zip ties even when they are up against things like painted and powdercoat or tires, it gives you the precision and control to cut the zip tie safely and without damaging anything else.
I use an awl to get under the locking tab on the zip, and then pull the tail out. Its nice to have those thicker longer zip ties.
AWESOME
Can't wait to see it in some better light
Thanks again for another great video
That bike is pretty sick 😊
Matty you should start your own bike shop
I agree with your comments about the Specialized bike, but they also come with a lifetime frame warranty that is fully transferable. Compared to the Ozark Trail warranty, which is much more limited-typically covering defects for a shorter period and often excluding transfers to new owners-part of the cost of a Specialized bike goes toward that warranty and the added engineering to ensure the components last longer.
That said, I agree that Walmart is definitely opening the door for people who don’t want to invest a lot of money into something they may or may not stick with but still want a bike capable of handling their local trails without falling apart. The latest Ozark Trail full-suspension model is a step in the right direction-closer to where I think the brand should have been in terms of specs-but they’re getting there.
😂😂😂 How do you expect me to sit through commercials when you got a video like this....😂😂😂😂
Walmart shipped that bike with more protection than Jenson did with my Pivot. 🙃
Get it brother! Stoked to see the channel growing!
That bike is super sick!! Whoa!
Honestly yeah that's how big name bike shops are. You have to find those mom and pops
Hahaha, I never watch unboxing videos, but you just got good vibes man. Cheers!
So sick, I shop at Walmart online everyday, dude last week I exploded my rear tube going super fast and smashing into a sharp edge rock. That night I ordered a thorn proof slime tube, it was at my front door before I woke up the next morning. Fixed my bike, never skipped a beat.
Kenda small block 8's are some old school xc/dj tires. Been around for 2 decades or so, wire bead involves the steel wire that is in the bead to give it strength. Not as light as folding/nylon, but they hold shape well and are a little easier to install I find.
Only thing I would worry about is the wheels, but at such a low price a wheel upgrade would be still low cost.
I always knew dj's to be 750+usd, so this slotting in under 300 or even 350 is great.
Man with a few tweaks that is an amazing beginner trials bike as well … they doin it 🎉🎉
Amazing I literally just asked you about this bike! I will be looking forward to your review on specs. Thx for another great video Matty
Thanks for making these. I’m lucky we have a great bike shop here, but I’ve been in that kind of bike shop before
Walmart doing right the first time always!
Unfortunately the bike shops of today have started to lean towards elitism as the staff all ride something north of $5k and that's not including the mods. The average person will be more than happy with the average bike ( read affordable) like your work 👍
Wire bead tire: the rings - or _beads_ - inside the part of the tire that locks in with the rim are made of steel - i.e. this tire can't be folded.
Thanks for another great video, I do love your enthusiasm. The background music, it could be turned down a little, but still, thanks, I appreciate your work.
Good vibes my man.
It gives people the chance to just enjoy the sport again without spend a lot of money... And if they want to spend it then they have the chance to upgrade and that's how the sports should be that's how it was when I was a kid.
Ozark trail
“Get in, where they fit in” - Matty
That’s kinda dirty that they wrote “Trex air” on the box. Having said that, my first bike came from Sam’s Club and it had some really nice components on it.
My kids have Kenda Small Block Eight tires on their GT Stomper mountain bikes. They're fine for the riding that they do.
Edit: Pump tracks, dirt roads/paths, and pavement.
Thing's a steal, but I would've liked a chromoly fork for undying value.
I gotta say that for trying to champion more affordable biking for people Matty, before even putting the rig together much less even spending 30 seconds riding it you already want to swap out the fork? When I was kid growing up we appreciated ALL of our Christmas & Bday gifts (maybe not the socks haha) and played\used them till they broke..
I like your shoes in this video! What kind are they? LOL Also would you ever consider reviewing Walmart E-Bikes / their Commuter line-up?
Can you make a video to break it down and check bearings? Does it have sealed bearings? Have they done better on making sure the cone nuts are adjusted and there's quality grease and not that clear water collecting crud?
Clean 🔥🔥🔥
0:55 100% how I feel when I go into a bike shop. I get it, they deal with a wide range of people but yeah.
Rad bike. The yellow looks cool.
The colour would match my Trek Roscoe 8!!
I saw a guy on a DJ bike at my local park last summer and have been jonesing for one since. I am so excited by this. Any tips to learn how to ride one? I've always been hesitant to get my bike off the ground and usually roll most features on my mtb
The big box bike industry is LYiNG TO YoU!!!!!!!! You dont need a dirt jumper to jump dirt, you would have more fun hitting jumps on a 1980s touring bike.
I love it! Definitely gonna pick one up for my son. What size wheels are those? Thanks
It’s awesome, can’t wait to show the riding video. They are 26” wheels
GET A BIKE STAND!!!! at this point in your life you need a proper bike stand!!! to assemble bikes and work on bikes
You would think I would have one by now lol
Or film a video making an affordable diy bike stand. 👍
@@MattyActivei bought one off craigslist for $50 like a decade ago! Changes the game 😂
I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but he has a relatively popular bike channel and knows very little about bikes. He wasn't even sure what a wire bead was.
The next video ,Walmart sent me a bike work stand !
This thing is sick
I think it's a mountain bike. I can see the picture on the side of the inner-box (i.e. 2nd box).
It’s likely they are coming out with a lot of bikes because they are building more bike trails and they just announced a new bike park with ski lifts. So yeah they want to sell more bikes at a good price point.
S-works 😂
I'm pretty sure the E-bike is coming next. They also have the Ozark fat bike
that bike looks really decent for $298!
my biggest problem with those bikes is the Suntour XCM fork. Walmart makes them look like real bikes but that suspension fork specifically states it's not meant to be used anywhere except paved roads, which completely defeats the purpose of these bikes existing. Same with the brakes. This and that full sus are just glorified city bikes that will be used 90% for doing groceries or commuting.
I have that same sticker on the Suntour fork I took off my used Rockhopper, and there's one on the RST on my single speed too. Based on Berm Peak's testing of the Suntour fork, I'd say you'd have to do something incredible to break one, they are heavy and strong.

I only replaced it because I wanted an air fork (a Rockshox), otherwise the 'pogo stick' is pretty ok for an entry level bike.
The problem is that good DJ forks are ungodly expensive. If they put a Rockshox Pike DJ, a Marzoochi Bomber DJ, or a Manitou Circus Expert on this bike the bike would cost like $800+.
Wire bead=non foldable tire
Most affordable gravel bike in the universe also.. $250.00
matty has videos on that bike
I want this and the gravel bike.
Wild
Is the Ozark Trail logo on the bottom a sticker or painted in?
Haven't watched but I bet its the OT dirt jumper.
I was right! Dude those bars have a so much backsweep. Change those things asap.
I feel the same from bikeshops
it's a weird but common phenomenon. Feel like I'm being chased out of some shops
Some people ride bikes, everyone on TH-cam sells bikes.
Paid infomercials are the now considered content on TH-cam.
Rear brake only?
Can someone tell me where I can order Ozark Trail FS.2 Mountain. I live in the Caribbean I would have order it from walmart yesterday if I could actually buy one. I got a lot of family in the US and Canada who can physically buy a bike for me too.
Dude not to sound like a beggar but if you’d ever like to unload any of your bikes I’d Love to grab one. I have a 2016 Giant Talon 4 and really enjoy it but I recently went for a ride with some buddies who had newer better bikes and got literally cooked. So if you ever want to help anyone out who wants to continue to grow in the sport, I’d love to be on the receiving end. And if not your channel is still awesome and I’ll still watch all of the videos. Have a great one dude🤙🏽
Is the frame steel or aluminum?
This is a social media bike. Only the TH-camrs have it because they send the influencers the entire inventory.
rad
MATTY WALMART
Send it back.
My Walmart only has junk
You need better lighting
.its not you bro.. and . its not just BIKE shops yo.. its ALL shops. dead ass, i was at the mall last Wednesday and was sssooo nervous just goin into stores to look for shorts..
Dirt jumper
Tell Walmart about me… I’ll review some for them.
Aprreciate the trek story. Not a fan.
bro, we didn't see the bike until the 5th minute of the video..
Great, but here is the real question that has to have yes answer, so you have better bikes that are affordable, can you meet the market demand that this could create???
Wal-Mart's Ozark Trail brand is to the bike industry what Mazda used to be to the automotive industry: the company that Gets It - the _Big It._ Don't just make things that are cheap and cheerful, make things that are _affordable and joyful._
stop pushing the shit bikes yes they will work but they suck bad in no time they go to shit and are hard to fix because of the parts they use.
So obvious you are a commercial
Walmart is a waste of money. Look at the 30 yr old bolt on wheels. Crap parts. Shotty welds. Hubs fall apart.
Boring
Your content is all about shit bikes and startling news about bike industry. 🤦♂️
At least his attitude isn't ass like your face😅
Uhmmm..., Speaking of Trek.., please test/review the FX Sport 6. 🦻
