Great video and amazing job 👍 I heard that this grey-green cabinets are very hard to clean. Do you have any ideas how to protect these fronts from finger marks?
I don’t have a detailed video on how to install this, in this video at 13:17 you can see a little how I install th-cam.com/video/gDwy6HmZxJU/w-d-xo.html
Great workmanship. You have the IKEA system down. Question; do you ever use a crown nailer doing build-outs or fillers ? Done custom and box kitchens before but never and IKEA untill now. Your video is very helpful. Thank You
These are actually Ikea brackets that come with the trash can assembly packaging. I think that they do make a difference, because they used to be plastic and now they make them metal.
Hi Maxplus! It would literally be so helpful if you explain it to me,what's the distance from the floor that you put the Rail in for the base cabinets,it's usually 82cm or...?
This is cool! But where did you get that conversion template from 6:54 ? And also the door conversion screws and plugs? I ordered an IKEA kitchen and they gave me door faces instead of drawer faces so I returned all the door faces and changed sizes to something else where they had drawer faces. But you!?!? The magician?!?!?!
Here is what you buy, and it has everything you need to convert drawer to door. www.ikea.com/us/en/p/utrusta-fixture-for-mounting-door-on-drawer-00280755/ Hope that helps!
Can I ask about the decision to put in the flooring after the cabinets? I’ve been doing a lot of research, and a lot of people do the floor before the cabinets. If this just preference?
Hi, yes absolutely. Either way works, it is just your preference. In Europe they usually do the flooring before the install the cabinets; in the USA most of the people complete the flooring after they install the cabinets.
Ceramic or hardwood flooring usually goes in first. However, floating floors (like click vinyl etc) usually go in after because they suggest that the cabinets should not be on the floating floor (feet should go on the subfloor).
I’m an interior designer and neither answers are correct. Deciding to put the flooring prior to cabinets is solely based upon whether you wish for the floor to run under the cabinets. Flooring is need under appliances but not cabinets. If you don’t wish for the floor to run under the cabinets, you can conceal the gap with shoe molding or a trim piece if your toe kick is not tall enough.
@@jennisosa6076 typical designer.... floating floors need to be able to expand and contract. If you install them first and then place the ( heavy) cabinets or an island on top of them, they can easily buckle when they swell up and cannot move. Leave installing to the experienced installers and stick to drawing your pretty ( but often severely flawed) pictures!
Looking at the microwave, do you think it is essential to have a cover panel between the cabinet that is above the microwave and the cabinet that is to the left and right of the microwave?
If your cabinets are 30in high, and you DON'T have the deco strip on the bottom then you don't, BUT if you do have deco strip and your cabinets are 30in or 40in high then yes, you do need cover panels you've listed.
I only install kitchens, so can't tell you exactly how it is in everyday use, but I could imagine anything that has at least a little bit of gloss to it, will have some fingerprints.
what is the size of your metod and bodarps beside the stove? great video. i am also currently working on our kitchen using the same materials :) keep it up
can i ask you a question? what is the height to the bottom of the upper rail? because in the user manual of ikea did not explained well. thanks in advance.
Bottom of the rail is 2 3/8 inches below top of cabinet. So, for base cabinets, it would (usually) be 32 1/8" above finished floor. There are exceptions occasionally
The standard for base cabinet is 34 1/2" - now, you set the top of the rail 1/4" below that measurement (so, your measurement for top of the rail should measure 34 1/4" of the finished floor) Same function for the upper cabinets with the standard calling for 94 1/2 for 40"(!) upper cabinets, and 84 1/2" for 30"(!) upper cabinets.
Thank you. They come in boxes and you've got to assemble them first. You can watch me do it in this video th-cam.com/video/gDwy6HmZxJU/w-d-xo.html so yes, basically this is why the price is $2,700; again, in California.
As someone with a tiny apartment kitchen, it’s the only place I’d have it. In a larger kitchen I’d have it built into the cabinets at about chest height.
Usually this would be a one-day type of project would I have had an assistant, and here I did it in 2 days because I was by myself. But again, I have a ton of experience :)
So depending on what the flooring is going to be, we set up the rails height pre-calculating the thickness of the flooring (there are different measurement standards for different types of flooring). I live in US, and here we install the kitchen with or without flooring - it is simply a customer preference.
Pretty shitty job. You left a huge gap in the upper cabinets and never attempted to fix it. I can't believe you didn't see it. I learned a lot from this. Thank you.
The gap is to the right of the microwave. But in the finished part of video it's closed. So I think you didn't have that cover piece until later. It's closed at end.
I plan to install a kitchen for my daughter without a corner base cabinet. it was a tradeoff decision between a corner cabinet with turntable or a cabinet with three 30 in wide drawers for pots. We chose the latter.
